I stopped playing actively for the fairly common reasons:

Went to uni
Got a Job

I never came back to active play for the same reasons already mentioned, by the time I found the time too play, those I enjoyed playing with had also stopped playing and I no longer had the time available to start from scratch.

As for why do we even bother coming to places like this? Personally, and I know many of the others are the same, I got involved in the development side of the game instead both with updates and wormkit modules / tools. You don't have to be an active player to be involved in the game.

I have moved all PC's over to Win10 now and haven't ran in to any issues apart from updates deciding to install at hugely inconvenient moments.

I dont know what you mean. You just download it and install it. You can install both but mapgen needs the 32 bit one.

Do you have the latest windows updates installed? If so you could try downloading the visual studio 2015 redistributable from the Microsoft site

I see no harm in implemening a rope variation (Worms 2 physics or otherwise), but it would have to be an option, you couldn't just force that on people as the default. Other than it just being a bad idea to do so, it would make versioning a real pain. By that I mean that when ever someone with an older version joined a game, forcing version emulation, the rope physics would change.

That said, I would love to see the W2 weapons bought back. They weren't the greatest weapons, but I never saw any reason to get rid of them...

EDIT1: I just noticed, when I'm generating a Big RR map (8000x8000, Water, No Top Soil, Start Top Left) i takes about 3-6 seconds, right? But when I'm saving a map, it freezes for about 10 seconds, then I get the map exported. Weird right?


Hey! Good to see someone trying it out! :)

It's not that weird, 8k maps are pretty big files, and how long it takes to save will depend on your harddrive. For what it's worth, the actual generation only takes about a 10th of a second or less, the rest is entirely rendering it to the png in RAM.
As for it freezing, that is because it just saves on the main thread (it used to freeze during generation too but I fixed that). Async saving may be a good idea, but might be more effort that it is worth.

The links should be back up. At least for now, look like my IP auto-updater is failing. I have manually updated it for now and will take a look at the script tonight.

Edit: Hopefully it will update properly now, let me know if they break again!

* Optimisations to a number of themes.
* Complete re-write of the RR generator:
    - Corridors are no longer as long allowing for more complicated areas.
    - Start and finish no longer have to be next to each other.
    - Added ability to force the start to the top left (mostly for huge maps where finding it can be tricky).
    - Added tick box for water, when set, there is no floor. When not set the floor is thicker so it can be seen.
