[...] the fascination with it

...is:
a) more precise scheme and waeapon settings
b) faster rope - better feeling for some (even better as /ir)
c) frontend optimized for pc (W:A's is more optimized  for Nintendo64...)
d) ReSolutionWK allows zoooming with mouse - how nice is that?! Why isn't W:A capable of it yet?

apart from that, you are right... patches, updates, active community, etc. is on W:As side... but even here in W:A comunity 5 out of 22 people whant at least the worms2 rope  ;)

btw - we were young and stupid, but when w:a came out, precise weapon and scheme settings were missed so much – we switched back to W2.
I wish everyone would have done that 1999/2000, and W:A would be the dead one, everyone playing Worms2-v8.271-Rubber-PX-Flawless-Deluxe ;)

ps: When I finaly find the way to run W2 via wine - I'll call for Worms2-Wednesday...
...and rest of the week no mocking about how much better a developed version of W2 would be compared to W:A  ;)

Just need someone to get w2 stable for Windows 10 and ill come play it with ya  :D
It's already stable if you install ReSolution with windowed mode support: https://worms2d.info/ReSolution

OpenSource even* - HowMuchAikLikesStepS++;  ;)

*) Well - of cource not Worms2, the WK... W2 would be too good to be true.

Note that the "Improved Rope" option in RubberWorm is not exactly the Worms2 rope. Worms2 rope physics had some fundamental differences, as far as I remember. This is only a rough approximation that doesn't modify the W:A rope itself (it's only the angle and acceleration, which are already tweakable).

How, besides IR and TS? I mainly miss Worms2 for it's precise settings - damage a single mortar piece does in exact health points, not just 5 power level to choose i.e.

If a genie or feary would grant me 3 wishes – one would be having Worms2 source code (and permission to upgrade and distribute) ^^

Please don't suggest downgrading VB, as I already see that as possible ("dirty") solution  ;)
oh, those archers and their faith in modernity :-[

You're right – I simply should downgrade... lazy (modern ^^) me, for asking here XD

Ahoihoi!

With the latest Update of VirtualBox (5.1.4_OSE r110228) the sound of W:A is delayed by ~2 seconds.
This is very annoying... I think I could just downgrade VB, but I also like to have newest versions installed.

Maybe someone else had that problem, and solved it? Or anyone does know how to correct this?

ArchLinux is host system and WinXP SP2 guest... other applications in guest-XP seem to work fine (no sound delay), it's just worms.

Please don't suggest downgrading VB, as I already see that as possible ("dirty") solution  ;)

I don't think what those two posted is what is meant, considering there's a red section meant for attachment right at the inlaw spot.  The video to which you referred is correct, though it doesn't show the setup.

Hmm... but the direction you have to go on the map kinda implies the way it's done in the gifs...

If you (or anyone else) would like to show a better/correct way – https://wmdb.org/maps/27727 is the map I played on (the "inlaw" is in the middle of the "T" in the first section).

Both gifs in this thread are incorrect.  An inlaw ends lower than it starts.  On that corner, bounce off the top lightly and reattach to the same corner you were attached to or lower down the side.  This was commonly used at the start of many old rope race maps and it was a common trick practiced while warming.

Ye - like in the Video rUNaW4y posted

ExZo is able to explain you it for sure :V

But I think what Kaleu and ExZo posted is what is meant on the particular map - "modified inlaw". On the map it sais - "manny tricks are performed in an unusual manner"...

So thx Kaleu & ExZo – I get it now  ;)
Also thanks for links and stuff all others =)

How do you make these very clean gifs? I know the frame extracting part but I can't find the best program to cut it the way I need and compile it, help?

Don't know how WTF-8 did it, but I use http://www.imagemagick.org/ for (batch) cropping, scaling etc.
And https://www.lcdf.org/gifsicle/ for gifs.

Hello ! It will be soon. Just not enough time for site restoration.

Sweet =) Hope you find some time for it soon...
...if you don't - i'll start collecting replays, extracting gifs and put it on (still quite empty) k-clan-hp ^^

Ahoi!

I always used http://faw-wa.tk/school_basic_tricks.html for looking up how to do tricks, witch I don't know from memory.
But the site seems to be down... replaced by some "you're the 1,000,000th visitor"-site.

Is there an alternative? Will Freestyle AnyWhere reup the site?
