o0, I see some errors on Alien replay:

- In the 2 wizards combo, after hard Dragon on 1st map, he dont grab the blue line.

- In the Cannonball at the end of 1st map, he dont grab the pinball.

I don't know if anyone new is still looking at this challenge, but with a week to go I'm expanding my offer to put people's names on the map. Anyone who beats the challenge at all before the end date for the challenge will get their name on the map, so if you haven't played or submitted 'cause you couldn't beat an hour, now is your time.

Very nice work to everyone vying for first place, you're making me feel bad about how lazy I was with the replays I made of the maps

Just watched the replay.  Hats off.

It's all very well roping for 40 seconds in a ttrr and then make a huge mistake and f@#! it all up but after 20 minutes I'd be so pissed off.

Aliens replay was really nice, I actually really really enjoyed watching this, this is the 1st replay i've ever watched in x1 speed, damn that was entertaining.

Ok, this is a really really long post, I remember KRD telling me how bad the names of moves for roping has became a while back, I had no idea what he meant until I watched Aliens replay on this map, is it the NLF or FNL community or something? Well he said they renamed alot of "moves" with the rope, anyway, maybe I am old fashioned or something, but alot of this doesn't make sense to me, here is my criticism and my own confusion as to how the names for these shots came to be, please by all means, if anyone can explain to me about any these moves I mention, please do so lol !

The following is based on how Alien roped, if he done any the moves wrong and i've been mis-guided, let me know !

And Fluffy, good job modding this Challenge, i've been watching it, so ignore all this criticism etc cuz it ain't directed at you lol.

"Scrolls"

I thought and I am very sure Scrolls is just roping in a direction with a roof above you, not the technique you see in RR's alot, hard for me to explain, but well what Alien done in the replay.

Is "Pini" a "Pinball" cuz that's what it looks like to me?

I don't get this "Dreamer with Pini" thing, all he done was the 1st part of a Dragon then done what was originally called an IllBeBack.


Can you explain to me "Swing to Touchdown to Gap"? All that looks like is the start of a dragon with another IllbeBack with a pinball, what is "to Gap" Lol

"Double Dragon" - Isn't this just a Fling then a Dragon combined, it isn't a double dragon, the way i'd imagine it anyway...

"Plunger" this is just a swoosh pinball move, why not just call it a swoosh pinball?

"Reverse Inlaw" I don't see why this is called this, doesn't look reverse to me, but it looks extremely cool and actually said out loud "nice", I think this should be called something totally different altogther, but thats just me lol.


From what originated as a "Mexi" and an "Arch" a mexi is when you throw yourself like this way over an entire island in a roper, and an arch is when you do it over a small part of this island, so I don't see where you get all these Mexi's that are actually Arches.

I can see why you call things "Extended" cuz instead of pulling the rope in, you've pushed it way out, this makes sense I like this.

"Swing to Nova" How is this called this, looks like a Swing to a Shadow, where do you get Nova from lol?

Isn't this "Backwash" just a wizard? Looks like it to me...

I really don't understand why you call this next move a "reverse mexi" when it actually looks more like a reverse swoosh...

"Swoosh to Dragon" This just looks like a swoosh, then just some sort of a toss up, then a shadow, that isn't a dragon, no way in hell is that a dragon, dragons are when you throw yourself like you are doing a mexi then doing a shadow going down, not up lol.

"Butterfly" Seriously, where are you getting these names from LOL ! This just looks like a pump, then a spiked shadow...

I thought inlaws were supposed to go down, not up, but I can see how this works...

"Swing to Spike" This is a cool move actually, but why call it swing to spike, and not an entirely different name? Like a dragon is just a "swing" then a shadow but isn't called a swing to shadow...

Wasn't a "Reverse Spike" called something of it's own on IBB's Tutorial page? I'm sure it had it's own name, I might be wrong though...

"Impossible" Just lol... Alien done this 1st attempt, what a stupid name for a move...


Who actually came up with all these names? I mean some of the names are cool I guess, but it's a shame to see how so many of these moves have actually already been named something else by Ropers like 8 years or more ago...

You shouldn't necessarily mention Alien's replay specifically.  There are a number of very similar times in this challenge.

A lot of these new tricks are combinations of pre-existing tricks.  It could be argued that renaming / grouping tricks is more sensible when you're trying to describe a massive rope combo you've just done.

If there was any debate about what these tricks should be called then it's up to those people to complain or offer alternative suggestions.  As this hasn't happened (or at least not publically) then people playing these crazy trick schemes can name them what they like.

These new trick names have evolved from a fairly small group of hardcore wormers devoted to tricks and trick combos. 

I find it quite intimidating looking at these maps and not knowing what the f@#! the tricks are.  It makes a long term wormer feel uncomfortable as perhaps it does to you Komo.

But these tricks aren't 'new'.  All the old schoolers and anyone else has had their chance to complain about these tricks.

Yeah, it just seems a bit silly with these crazy names, in terms of BnG, I could start making up weird names too for combo's, like a bank transfer, let's call that "puff puff pass" and when you plop someone, let's call that "You got knocked the f@#! out!"


I done a combo of shots, with their names that the b2b community calls them between ourselfs, some of which most people refer to nowadays, for example a Bank, me and resonance started this name, and it stuck, floorbank, that stuck too, but it sounds right from what you see, double bank and triple bank are pretty obvious, for each individual part it goes like this:

LG MaxBounce Floorbank Triple Bank BunnyHop Transfer - 5s, maybe i'll name this a "Dreamworld"

And a LG MaxBounce Bank BackBounce Transfer Trapshot - 5s, i'll name that a "MWaHaHa"

I guess my point is, I think it's pretty confusing having specific names for moves that are a combination of a bunch of different actions, like when it says "swing to inlaw", this, is easy to understand, but when I see "Dreamer" and "Impossible" and "Butterfly" I am thinking, what the hell is he gonna do now, and I actually had to start the replay and skip in super fast mode like 10-15 times for each of those moves to fully understand what seperates them.

And if they called it like, "Swing to Dragon to outlaw" it'd be much much easier to understand.

If I played that map, i'd have to pause it everytime I came up to a new part to check their tutorial page just to see what I have to do next lol.

Plus the names they make up don't really make sense.

Like a "Transfer" in BnG is like the opposite of a bank, instead of bouncing off a wall and going up, it bounces off a wall and goes down, it's like a transfer of direction, which is why I named it this.

I just feel like the names they made up don't really make sense or fit the move.

Don't get me wrong, this whole Trick Race thing is really really awesome, it's really impressive and like you said, takes ALOT of patience to rope 20-40 minutes solid like that, and for some people it would actually maybe start to hurt your arms/wrists depending on your style, so yeah, hats off for that.

And it doesn't make me uncomfortable, just confuses the hell outta me lol

These new tricks / combo names have become 'standard'; you can only assume that they make sense for the experts who play this scheme as much as you play BnG.

Considering this was perhaps your first proper look at a trick race, it's only expected that you'd be confused!

Yeah I know that lol, I just think some of the names are flawed, some of them don't make sense, and some of them are wrong.

Komo... I have in my mind one project. That will be map with explanations of all the tricks that are done in this "new roping age"
You know many tricks by their old names, that simply are not used anymore. Some new tricks invented and combinations of 2 or more tricks got their own unique names because those are used often in games like wxw.

I simply can't replay to your post here because it will take me hours probably to find explanations for all things you asked and probably you won't understand even half because of my bad English... so if you see me ( sW`Rodent`nlF ) around a wormnet feel free to ask me for a game. I will be able to explain you most of that things in game probably.

As I already said in my post... combos that are used too often in normal games deserve their own unique name... Like the thing you will say "I'm" instead if "I am" in most of the cases... simply it's just easier when you are using that combo words too often

And ye... some things that may not look logical to you after this... names for some tricks here are made from names of that combos because they are tought like that.

"IllbeBack" I don't know what is that... probably that is too old name for me... I'm kinda new roper around here...

Some people consider that pinball is made of many pinies... so when you have one bounce from ground that is pini and when you have multy bouncing that is pinball.

About scrolls you are totally right... I disagree with that naming too
