There will be 4 groups of 5 players each.

POT 5

** denotes a player who didn't confirm event selection, was also never seen - high chance of replacement if inactive for first 2 weeks of the event.

Groups will be formed in a professional draw that will be held soon and announced here. The draw will start from pot 5 placing each player in the 5th spot in each group from A do D, then same procedure with pot 4, 3, 2 and 1.

Players from same pot will not compete within the same group.

There is an idea of allowing more action and games for players who will take lower spots in each group, so not 3 but just 1 player gets eliminated after groupstage.

The idea is to introduce additional stage "1/8 final - round 2" between grooupstage and quarterfinal stage. Game would be played at 3 victories also (alike in groupstage and pairings would be:

1 A1 vs C4
2 B1 vs D4
3 C1 vs A4
4 D1 vs B4
5 A2 vs C3
6 B2 vs D3
7 C2 vs A3
8 D2 vs B3

So the idea is to pair 1st players from each group vs 4th ones and 2nd ones vs 3rd ones, then the winner of 1 would play winner of 2 in quarterfinal, the winner of 3 vs the winner of 4 etc.

I made some simulation and the results were way different than when quarterfinals were direct.

Speak up guys, do you want this additional stage, the voting ends on friday 6th March. Then the final rules will be posted.

Again - thanks to all for joining this event once again and have lots of fun and challenge at it's best.

Welcome to the official edition of the kaos tournament that will be a part of season 3 of the official kaos events.

The official events are powered by the Kf community that keeps the spirit alive.

First of all I'd like to thank you all for your interest and participation that you declared, it will be a great adventure of kaos on its highest level. A lot of action is coming.

Let's show and prove that succeeding in kaos scheme is something that requires mastering of various complexed techniques. Only those who wield them all best will reach the top phases and emerge victorious.

This event will begin on Monday 9th March (0:00 GMT time) and will last until the end of May.

All games must be played within that period. There will be one unreachable deadline for group stage and deadlines for playoff phases.

There are 48 games to be played in this event (groupgames + all playoff matches including finals).

The event will consist of 4 stages:

1) The group stage (9th March - 12th April)

40 group-games at 3 victories by 20 players (4 games per every player).

All games should be arranged individually. Special threads will be prepared for your convenience. Should you experience problems with contacting a player, contact me or the one who will manage your games and these dudes will try to solve the problem.

Check the Kf boards for tournament updates that will be a friendly tool prepared especially for your convenience so you can't get confused and have a pleasant event.

EVENT STAGES
------------

GROUP STAGE
-----------

The professional draw of groups was held. No qualifiers were needed as there were 20 players that signed up.

The pots were based on the official kaos ranking. The players who didn't participate in any official kaos events before formed last pot.

There are 4 groups consisting of 5 players each.

The criteria of forming pots are:

- players who got champion / runner up titles (based on ranking)

- players who reached semifinal stage of tournament or league playoffs (based on ranking)

- players who reached quarterfinal stage of tournament (based on ranking)

- players who didn't reach quarterfinals in tournament and league playoffs (based on ranking)

- unranked players who never participated in any official kaos events (by signing up order)

You can see groups in separate sections dedicated to each group.

The tournament will include competition in 4 groups of 5 players with scheme and rules used also in league format. The only exceptions are stated below.

Each player will have to play one game against everyone within their group. That will amount in 4 games for each player to be played in group stage.

Once all these games are played the best two players from each group (based on the criteria explained below) will advance to the next stage.

Group stage games will be played at 3 victories.

The criteria used to determine group standings will be as follows:

1. Amount of victories,

2. Greater Won/Lost rounds ratio,

3. Greater amount of rounds won,

4. Head 2 head result between tied players.

QUARTERFINAL STAGE
------------------

Players will be paired for quarterfinal matches as follows:

QF1 [A1 vs C2]
QF2 [B1 vs D2]
QF3 [C1 vs A2]
QF4 [D1 vs B2]

A1 = Group A winner
A2 = Group A runner up

... etc ...

Quaterfinal games will be played at 5 victories.

Players who will advance as first ones from their groups will have the privilege to start in each match (so they can also start a possible decider).

Winners of each quarterfinal will advance to the next stage.

SEMIFINAL STAGE
---------------

The winners of quarterfinals will be paired as follows:

SF1 [QF1 vs QF2]
SF2 [QF3 vs QF4]

The semifinal matches will be played at 7 victories.

All four players attending this stage will advance to the final stage.

The player who will be starting semifinal (and final) games will be the determined on criteria below:

- won by more rounds advantage in the stage before,

- performance count

- random, as game decides.

FINAL STAGE
-----------

Losers of semifinals will meet in a 3rd place match.

Winners of semifinals will meet in the event's final.

Both matches of this stage will be played at 9 victories.

Winner of 3rd place match will get the money prize as specified in the rules.

Loser of event's final will be announced vice-champion of the event and will get the money prize as specified in the rules.

Winner of event's final will be declared the season 2 world champion of the official kaos tournament and will get the money prize as specified in the rules.

Prizes paid in full apply only to games completed in time.

Each day of breaking the deadlines will cause the prize money to drop by 10 Euro.

The groupstage is taking too long already, the extended deadline has passed yesterday, but despite that, 19 of 20 players didn't complete all of their matches, while 6 even didn't play their games.

The players who didn't play any games yet scenarios will be as follows:

Completely inactive player is Alien, he last time logged in to tus even before it started and thus will be replaced by Magnificent.

Players who have never responded, but was logging in to tus since the tournament started are Vince and v-stuff, I give them 10 days time to arrange games, after this time, they will be replaced.

Other inactive players: Prince Egypt, Asbest and Hurz were at least contacted, but yet didn't arrange any games, except of Hurz who tried. I give these players 15 days time to arrange and play their games.

This is why replacement signups start, all who want to join in this official professional tournament of kaos can post here (except the players who already are taking part in current edition). Signups will be open for 10 days, we will need a maximum of 5 players if noone of the above will play their games.

First replacement for group C is Magnificent, who already wanted to take part, he replaces top seed Alien.

All the other 13 players need to play all their games until the end of May, this is the last and final deadline for arranging them with opponents as well as with hosts (use your respective group topics for that). After that time, those who are ranked best will advance altered by the penalties for unplayed games (so for example if you have 2 wins, but 2 unplayed games, and some other player has 1 win, but just 1 unplayed game, he will be tied and other factors will decide, such as head to head or ratios).

Remember that unplayed games penalties will be applied in every case, no matter if you tried arranging your games or not, this also applies to replacement players who will have less days to play these games, that's why if you decide to be a replacement, be sure you will be active in the second half of May.

EDIT

Asbest decided not to play, so Alien has still a chance to play, Magnificent replaces Asbest.

Entering June with official professional kaos tournament with all replacements made and 4 of 8 qualified players (Dream, impo, o, hollow) so far.

First of all I want to THANK YOU REPLACEMENT PLAYERS for being active and playing your groupmatches, it's really appreciated.

There are still some unplayed matches though - ESPECIALLY IN GROUP C - where no qualification is yet determined for anyone.

In order to have all games played I extend the groupstage deadline a bit, not sure yet for how many days, but please arrange your games as soon as possible guys (pizzasheet, Magnificent, Hurz, spleen, Mega Adnan) - do it in the topic dedicated to group C.

Also Berria, boolca, philie, PSIX from group A have some matches to complete, there is no clear situation concerning A2 quarterfinal spot, for now boolca's in that place but not completely clear there. As far as I know only philie cared to arrange his remaining matches to date.

In group D Kayz should also complete his 2 remaining matches to determine places in that group.

Thank you for your attention and keep in mind that all the guys who already qualified are waiting patiently for their quarterfinal opponents. Don't let them wait too long :)

ADVERTISEMENT: The newest child in prokaos roster was born recently. Halfkaos with 30 second turns and 4 worms. Hand placement is still being considered which can make this version more balanced concerning initial positions over random placement that may result in all kills in 1st turn at time. Plan is to launch a public tus cup on that harder - faster scheme very soon - probably even this week. All this to popularize fast-paced version of the classic kaos mode.
