OK, I'm talking about compatibility fixes for WORMS 2 IN GENERAL, not WORMS: ARMAGEDDON, not FIXES FOR PLAYING ONLINE, and DEFINITELY not FIXES FOR RESOLUTION!
Imagine What a Buck Could Do!

I now declare a brand new league (and the successor to the failed Ultra League): WormsRF!

How to make Worms 2 run perfectly:

1- Get the official patch from http://www.worms2.com/main.html?page=supp&area=patc
2- Get any of the unofficial patchs from http://worms.sydv.net/worms2/ in order to fix annoying bugs.
3- Use the resolution module made by StepS: http://worms2d.info/ReSolution
4- Download the DirectDrawFix which fixes the color bugs in game: http://aok.heavengames.com/blacksmith/showfile.php?fileid=11108

I have already posted a link (3rd post in this thread) to the windowed mode wrapper which resolves:
  • Compatibility with the latest systems and GPU drivers
  • Performance issues on Windows 8+
  • Vista and 7 color issues that sometimes could show up even with all the other fixes
Wine does not need this fix, because it already implements its own DD wrapper. The reason why this is windows-only is simple: putting pants on twice causes all sorts of problems.
Hope this helps.
Dec 30 2013 23:59:44 <StepS> windowed mode isn't the only thing you need about frontend
Dec 30 2013 23:59:49 <StepS> you need it to be actually bigger
Dec 31 2013 00:00:13 <StepS> it actually is very small on my 15-inch full HD screen
Dec 31 2013 00:00:25 <StepS> while running at 640x480 or stretched mode makes it fuzzy
Dec 31 2013 00:00:44 <StepS> this problem has been around since the Worms Armageddon's release and no one has even tried to beat it
