[SOLVED] HostingBuddy ingnores me, when I use a snooper
« on: August 31, 2015, 10:47 AM »
[edit] Working now with Great Snooper - you can check "Use
snooper rank". [/edit]
Ahoi!

When I try to host games with HostingBuddy via snooper, nothing happens.
He also ignores, when I message him (instead of answering "I'm a bot...").
I did send him /allowsnooper and until ~a week ago it worked very well.
Tried with GreatSnooper 1.4.9 and WheatSnooper 2.9.2.

If any1 has a possible solution, I would be very glad - using a snooper brings so much comfort, compared to the w:a-frontend...

sunny regards

Open conversation with HB and type "allowsnooper" without / you were using. That should do the trick.
Later, in #AG use !host commands.
Does HB reply to you in any way, if not, can't help you, but other than that, solution above ^
Every time I come back to TUS, I realize my last signature was cringe

Thank you for your comment.

He replies "HostingBuddy: \pYou can already host games from a snooper." - seem I already messaged him without '/'...

Thats progress - at least he doesn't ingnore me in every way. But I still can't host. And other messages are still ignored.

hmmm...weird....the same problem happened to me if I tried to host in any other chat other than #AG.

Hope someone else sorts this out as I'm out of ideas :/
Good luck!

Still no interaction with HB besides me: "allowsnooper" hb: "\pYou can already host games from a snooper."

Any ideas? I'd really like to host with hb via snooper...

just Pm HB with "allowsnooper" It will reply with: "HostingBuddy: \pThank you. You can now use the \rhost\p or \rphost\p command to host a game."

I looked into this. It's caused by not using the "snooper" rank when using a snooper - this confuses HB. It will now send an appropriate error message.

To fix this, just set your snooper to use the "Snooper" rank.

Thank you!

But doesn't that mean, I won't be able to use HB, when logging in with TUS? Or is there an apropriate rank I can choose at TUS-settings?
...well not that I need TUS secure login...

Simple solution for now - log in normal. Everythings working fine again =)
I'm wondering, why I didn't come up with this myself (did experiment with ranks once ~2 month ago and HB send me that message back then...

You would need to consult with the snooper author probably, however all rank-related code (not just in HB) assumes that if your rank is not "Unknown" or "Snooper", you are not using a snooper (i.e. you're using W:A itself).

It's possible that it would be best if snoopers communicated third-party ranks via some other way than the WormNET rank field.

I will send/post a message to the authors of the snoopers I tested. Now that HB talks again - even with non-snooper ranks - noone has to be confused anymore ;)

Thank you for looking into this - worming with even more fun =)

btw: If you whant to look into this even further - HB still doesn't reply when I send him i.e. "hello" - he used to anwer, that he's only a bot ;)

Is it fixed when you use snooper secure-logging with TUS too?
Due to massive misunderstandings: MonkeyIsland refers to an island not a monkey. I would be a monkey, if my name was IslandMonkey meaning a monkey who is or lives on an island. MonkeyIsland is an island which is related to monkeys. Also there's been a legend around saying MonkeyIsland is a game. So please, think of me as an island or a game.

No, but as CyberShaddow said - that has to be fixed on the snooper side.

You would need to consult with the snooper author probably, however all rank-related code (not just in HB) assumes that if your rank is not "Unknown" or "Snooper", you are not using a snooper (i.e. you're using W:A itself).

I wrote messages to dbanet (weatsnooper ) and Tomi (great snooper).
dbanet sais it will probably be fixed soon. But first, next release 2.9.3 is for new NAT2 only.
Tomi hasn't yet anwered.

Untill then I don't use the TUS-secure-login.
