IRC clients for wormnet
« on: August 18, 2010, 02:01 PM »
Didn't find anything about irc clients here.. and i heard that someone use it to connect wormnet. Is here anyone who know which is the best, and what i need to do to connect worment? And.. what are the disadvantages? Unknown flag? Can I see hosted games and join it?

I'm just asking because i want something with more options then prosnopper. The Wheat Snopper which i tested is a bit buggy for me, crashed couple times and generally i didn't like it. ;)

Ah, and question for all users, what do you use to connect to wormnet and why?

You need any IRC client and password for the wormnet server. And you cant host/join games via irc unless someone made own client for this, but as far as i know there is not any.

There are a few: http://worms2d.info/Software

You could try this: http://worms2d.info/Solixa_Worms

About IRC, I use mIRC to connect to WormNET, but as lacoste said it already, you cannot join/host/see games with that. You can set your rank and flag, though it's also a little tricky.

But to connect with IRC you must have a password, and that has been kept as a secret for a long time (for various reasons) and I wouldn't like to post it to such popular place as TUS.

Okay Ray and lac. Thanks for info. :D I didn't know many things you've said. I'm gonna try all snoopers, then some irc clients. Password won't be a problem. :p

hey skimek :D
wheat snoop gives you more options than connecting via IRC Client.
Im using prsnp to host\join games. and mIRC (the most popular IRC client for windows) to chat only :)
idk if in wheat u can join a cuple of channels(#ag, #rh & #pt at the same time) and have a private msg window's with several ppl, but with IRC client you can have both.
also, if u know some irc scripting you can code a "ON *:HOTLINK:", then u'll be able to press links in the irc client when some1 hosts with gameid, like in wheat snoop as much as I know.

feel free to ask anything about IRC, im kinda familiar..

cheers ^^
