Australia is one of the best places to go work for a while, all things considered, I've read, and they say.

it tends to be hard and they're super xenophobic

why did hungary get so lucky?

Yeah, I do consider myself lucky, but if there wasn't a huge emigration from Hungary mostly in the '50s, I wouldn't be here. Would rather come in the summer or spring tho, winter gets kinda boring.. But it wasn't up to me. I can't say much about the people, since I'm mostly around Hungarians and I'm in a special position, but the gov really is sort of xenophobic. Immigration is def not easy as I heard from some newly arrived hungarians. But this scholarship has nothing to do with the aussie gov, my expenses (to a certain limit) are covered by the hungarian gov, and I'm here on a visitor visa.

everything's called differently in Australia..

Australia is like different world, which i`d like to live in, btw ;D

Yeah, I thought the same at first. But after being here for 3 months, I don't. I'm not saying I know this country and I'm sure there's more in it in the summer, but it feels like they have hardly any culture, compared to Europe. Yeah, it's easier here to make a living and I love the "no worries" attitude, but man, there's no salt.. The scenery can be astonishing tho :)

i'm curious how did you end up working there? what's you field?

It's a scholarship sort of thing. There's a program run by the Hungarian government, which goal is to build a connection between the mother country and the emigrant communities and also to help keeping up the culture, especially folklore ad language. Young Hungarians with experience in traditional and community activities could apply for a 6 month period. I did to Australia and succeeded :) My main task here is to help a folkdance group, but I do other things too, like collecting oral history, working on getting the younger generation involved, etc..

honestly I have no idea about that, I just simply hated every single character (especially Walter), didn't like the acting, the script, even the picture, the colors seemed ugly to me..

What is it you didn't like about the script? You're not into drugs? No curiosity on that part of society? It makes sense you start hating everything if you don't like the series topic overall. I'd never watch a show like Californication for instance, because I know it's not my thing, regardless of how good it probably is.

I'm not going to judge your ability to rate actors, but I don't see why you feel comfortable dismissing the general public and those who make a living out of rating these kinds of things.

But you speak as if you watched the whole show, and you use the word hate, it really stops making sense for me right there. What kind of person are you? Why are you doing this to yourself?

Just realized they moved this discussion here..

I don't think Breaking Bad was about being into drugs or not.. I've simply found the script unrealistically silly (take Jesse for example), while it seemed to me that it meant to be serious. I'm not dismissing the general public or the opinion of some critics (never read any critiques about it), but this is not science, just because everyone else liked it, I'm not obliged to. I only heard good about the show so I gave it a shot and I didn't like it. I'm not going to bring up arguments because I lack the appropriate instruments to express my thoughts but I think I have the right to dislike the show on my behalf.
Yes, I hated the characters (ok, except maybe for Walter jr and the cop (can't remember his name)), but the show was quite exciting, so I kept watching until season 4, but then I really had enough, I just wanted them to catch Walter and end this shit. I don't really like to leave things unfinished tho..

To add something else to the topic:
I liked Firefly, Band of Brothers, Walking Dead and True Detective. And South Park + Family Guy until they got boring.

Ah, nice to see others mentioned True Detective too, I hope the won't screw it up in the following season(s). MI, tell oby to finally join us in #b2b! :)

probably gonna get stones for saying this, but I hated BB
that just doesn't make any sense.
I've met some people who took it personal when I told them the same. they acted as if I told that I hated them, so.. maybe it doesn't make any sense, but it's experience :)

BB was cool before it was mainstream

now it's mainstream so I guess it's cool to pretend it's softcore compared to the street shit one goes through ya know

People need to decorate their arguments with childish insults and lies only when they are trying to hide their foolishness and/or incompetence.

Yeah avi, you didn't break any rules. But you forced your enemy to do so, then started whining about it. Then you came here throwing shit at everyone, even though no one even said that you broke a rule. If you wanna play like that, be a man and take the critique at least.
Now you're just making a fool of yourself (not like we needed any confirmation about that).
