I am actually just more genuinely impressed that there is still a community and that this is still going.

I don't know if I will ever play properly again, but I find that a little alarm goes off in my head like once every couple of months to come back to this site and check in.

It's a weird one, the game had so much potential and team17 just didn't seem to care about it. If it came out today it would have seasons, dlc etc.... it's a nice novelty to look back on.

I hope people are playing it for years to come, but I'm pretty much done.

TUS Discussion / Re: Anti-lock in BnG
September 02, 2020, 08:57 PM
I mean if you go back far enough petrol bombs were also part of BnG for a period of time along with clusters and 20 sec turn time. Like everything evolution of the game, I am not the biggest fan of ant-locked worming, but it serves it purposes.

Thanks folks and Mr. CkC it's being awhile, I've joined the discord so will see what the story is :) I've played a couple of games over the last few days. Seems to be inter's only, nothing too crazy but good none the less.

There appears to be no better time to get back worming.

I have installed WA from Steam and will be back online, looking forward to catching up with some old folks and some new folks and of course BnGin.....

If you want to catch up and have a game feel free to give me a shout! Looking forward to seeing you folks!

And this is why the game is dead. There is a difference between voicing concerns and just being critical for the sake of point scoring. I shall call you Captain Negativity going forward. :)

You need to move past shite like backwards compatibility replay save files etc... Its 2019 the game needs to move with times or it doesn't work. As I said you have to be willing to let the purists behind. But honestly it's negativity like this that made me realise I don't need this in my life and I moved away from it.

Best of luck with it! See you guys in a year or so again, I'll pop into a random convo :)

You'll miss a chance to showcase backwards compatibility!
On a serious note, I don't think last few old versions miss something super important that'd require banning them. It's also not a good idea if planning interactions with randoms in-game, as 3.6.31.0 is rather popular for some reason.
I'm also assuming that 3.7.2.2 and 3.7.2.1 will be treated as one version, because AFAIK .2 is exclusive to Steam and doesn't have noticeable changes.

I imagine blackground is pretty common among high level players, following the stereotype of pros disabling everything to reduce lag and distruptivity of visual effects. But yeah, it shouldn't cause major inconvenience in W:A.

Sounds like an unrealistic goal in this small community.

As I said, guys, it's just a thought. On the version piece, I think you need to find one version and stick to it as that is what you are show casing. As new versions come out it gives new content to stream also e.g. check out WA v4. Realistically speaking Backwards compatibility should not be a thing. By introducing stuff like that you make it needlessly complicated in trying to attract new people to the game, which is the aim of this??? It's like going to buy a car - I want the blue one, perfect then you see all the extras, etc.... but from the outside people still, only see the blue car. Go with whats simplest to give you the best chance of success. That may piss off the purists but it's not them we should be trying to satisfy.

@WTF - no issue with you shooting down ideas, but I'd appreciate some solutions to what "won't work" there is nothing more infuriating to me than people saying "Hey this is shit or that's shit" with no thoughts on how to make it work.

Yes, there is an uplift needed with coordination, but if people were serious about getting the game back up and running then you would think they would be open to putting in some effort???... If not then maybe it's best the game is left to rest in peace and enjoy what's left of it until the end of Wormnet.

It's been fun being back on the forums for a bit I must say :)

Upon my recent visit to these forums that I have not seen in a while, I was thinking what could reignite WA and attract new people to the game and I was thinking since the day when the walls fell (The day I refer to ranks disappearing never to return) it has been a slow demise.

So I think it's safe to say this community has some interesting personalities both big and small and some of the banter I have been involved in over the years has been bursting my sides laughing... Anyway coming to the plan of action... we need the following.

A sizeable amount of people to sign up to this I am talking 20-50 people.
An agreed time realistically speaking U.S. centric EST or PST is a good bet around 5 pm either side.

Everyone who signs up to have a gaming Twitter page. Agree a Hashtag e.g. #WAWorms #Gaming #Twitch and link to our Twitch streaming account
People will also need a Twitch account and stream the game and not be afraid to talk, answer questions about WA etc.. and build a following and push people to this site.
This site would need an overhaul as most people access content on their phones these days.
We need people to commit to playing for 2-3 hours and have folks who cannot play, retweet their links to get the message out there.
N.B. Everyone will need the same version, graphics turned on all the bells and whistles to showcase the game

I think if we agreed to this like once a week if not multiple times a week, we could start to see an impact and start attracting people to the game.

Apologies if people have already discussed this, I just think it's an interesting thought that could help the community in the long run and who knows perhaps create some stars in the community.

Just a thought!

Oh and one thing I love is it still ranks me as a newbie. So some might consider my thoughts fresh from a young whipper snapper :D

Bi yearly check in? Or 2 years since last checked in who knows... Someone check my last post... Anywho... To those talking about players from the early 2000's if it makes you feel any better I don't recognise most people on this forum with the odd person here or there a stand out. In terms of noobies and all that good conversation around teaching or not teaching. All for teaching and having people learn, but it says more about the state of the game when your desperate to do it rather than folks showing an interest in the game and wanting to learn the classic game types. And being fair the game is 20 years old now, if it was a dog it would have been put to sleep a long time ago. Since ranks went the game went down hill dramatically and what is that now 17 years ago. Let it be okay with those who want to meet up and have a laugh, but it's never going to be anywhere near as great as it was unfortunately.

I remember DaBomb, can't remember what he was like though...

But wtf, bit of a coincidence all these VERY old players showing up within such a small time frame this year isn't it?

I really hope I am wrong, but feels like someone is going around taking the piss...

Yup you got me. I'm also examining it for you know.... scientific purposes.... yes that'll do...

Am I the only one who thinks the EBDB could be the best clan ever! It could be sponsored by Taco Corp. We're only 15 years too late! lol.

Yeah sounds Komodo, I'm sure I can be an easy first round win for some up and coming new fella. I can tell him back in my day those 3 second grenades were not like the 3 second grenades today.

I'll have a look and start doing some practice and look to make the tourney :)

Talk about playing the field! I wonder if there is something in the EBDB about this!?

I'm in AG now if anyone fancies a game :)

Hey guys, believe it or not I have bought a PC and while I have a wife, kids, work etc... I am starting to play a little few games on the PC more so than the PS4 these days. I have dusted off the old WA disk and by golly is it old. I am wondering if anyone is still around for some BnG with benefits? Or anything that I can just watch people fly around the screen with ropes as I take a jump, tumble to my demise. Give me a shout :)

BTW - this isint a comeback thread, it's just casual gaming like a one night stand that may turn into a f@#! buddy or something like that.

Have fun!

And here I was going to suggest "The A Team"
I pity the fools that overlook the need for a man with a van in this day and age.
