General discussion / WMDB: Map Review
February 14, 2023, 08:50 AM
Some fresh bread for your teeth.

User: Baldoro
Map: https://www.wmdb.org/44467

Although I have some other stuff to deal with, I review this map 2 times per day. The guy disagrees about "not-so-good-graphcis" and "unimaginative" tags.

That is why I come to you with a democratic approach.
Please post your option as per below:

- Elaborate: 1
- Good Graphics: 2
- Original: 3
- Themed: 4
- Sprites: 5

More than one option is allowed.

Bests,

I have idea. Instead of playing nonsense missions/challenges, maybe it is the time to  walk from the shadow and show ur face in AG? maybe instead of waste 100 hours to beat the records, maybe better to spend 10-20 minutes to play tusk game or clanner?  JUST AN IDEA...

1. Possibility to change water color
2. Being able to change resolution during the game (or just doing Zoom +/-)
3. Being able to hear people's custom soundbanks by default? (without having to tick it as ON)
4. Option to actually pause the game before our turn begins once per match for maximum 3 minutes? The game is turn-based so maybe it would be nice if we could open the door, pick up the phonecall, use the toilet just one time per match?

Using toilet one time per match is a prostate issue, can't be addressed by v3.9/4.0/ .. /7.98.

You're right, it isn't fair but it isn't 100% unfair either in my opinion. I did say I would manually place people in groups, however I did failed to mention in the cup description that I would sort people by skill. Though I was hoping that people would get that, or people would at least make an inquiry on the cup page ''What does he mean by: sorting groups manually?'' But the last sentence is only speculative though. But I did float the Idea or that I said I would sort players by skill to other people. Nobody at the time seemed to object to this Idea.

The ultimate question is ''Why did you manually sort players by skill, Kradie?''
First off, I would like to say that the following sentence by Runaway is pure conjecture:
''it seems you set it up to make sure some good ropers would be out of the competition after the first stage.'' This must make sense to some people with a different viewpoint, but this is simply not true. The Idea was to allow lesser known players to have a fighting chance, Instead of having to be brushed off so quickly by a titan. It could help them elevate their confidence, as well as their competitive nature, and Interest in TUS. Although, some of these people that joined the cup did it not out of sheer competitiveness, but rather to support this cup and the community on WA.

A counter-argument could be something like ''A newbie or a less skilled player should be thrilled to go against seasoned player. Because perhaps only then there is something to aspire to''. This makes sense and I do agree with this. As well as I agree with ''Less Skilled player would probably opt out in future competition here on WA by losing hard to a titan.''. Admittedly this is quite the conundrum for me.

But keep in mind, this practice may not be repeated in future cups.

My point was just a consideration which does not worth a long justification. Ignore my comment.

The groups has been manually sorted!

Good luck and have fun to everyone!

Prabe, what do you mean by "manually"?
The group #4 is quite unfair: it seems you set it up to make sure some good ropers would be out of the competition after the first stage.

But in this group there will be the most interesting battles

True, but if FIFA did not put France, Spain, Argentina and Brazil in the same group, there should be a good reasoning regardless of just some interesting matches.

Lol.. really.. It's getting more ridiculous to me the more I discover how challenge points system works.  :D
I just see no reason now to rush before the challenge expires. The point reduction penalty to send replays after expiration is kind meaningless.
It has been like that for years. I wonder if anybody complained about, I can't be the only one.  :-\

Kaleuman, I do believe challenges are about proving you can do better than other players, regardless of points and other metrics such as expiration times. Rankings and points are for politicians, not for ropers.

Seems more like a battle of insults than anything else.

By the way I know who is alaising you Zalo!

Yes, the joker already told me who he is and he wrote MonkeyIsland to remove the games. He wanted to put some humour to the community so maybe he will stay incognito for now. Admins probably already know anyway.

Luspastic would be a good candidate for this joke.

TUS Discussion / TUS - Italian translation

Damn MI, can you please quickly update your back end by replacing "unti" (which means "greased people") with "Punti" (which stands for "points") since it slightly disturbs my small brain every time I try to see a posted game?
Thanks beforehand.

Hey guys!
I'm pleased to announce you that I've finished this project, originally started by @Syc :D

W:A Texturizer is a small web-application that allows you to create maps that look W:A generated; in the style of the classic terrains, but keeping them pixel-perfect. This means that transparent pixels will always stay transparent, so that you can create precise race maps that will still work as they were meant to after the textures are applied.
Also, the application style was designed to follow W:A's graphical interfaces style :)

You can try it here: https://wa-map-texturizer.vercel.app
Source code (with a small tutorial): https://github.com/oscardianno/wa-texturizer

I enjoyed working on this:)), any feedback is kindly appreciated!  ;D

Interesting.

I wonder, what scheme is this map supposed to be made for? Anyone knows about this? Hand to Hand is supposed to be played on random intermediate or elite maps

@rUNaW4y

Can you explain the path you are supposed to take in this map? I go left and it splits immediately, I go right and it splits too, it's like a maze...

Looks really nice, but it's not direct enough to follow.

Which part of the map are you talking about? If you are referring to the start, then you have a warmer zone on your left and a standard path on your right. I thought "Warmer" nomenclature would be clear, but It seems to me it is not. I will avoid adding warming zones within next maps.
