General discussion / Worm Olympics
« on: June 15, 2023, 10:06 AM »
Dear all,

After a few discussions I had with some key people during the last months (e.g., @DarkOne, @SiD, @CS and @Zemke), I/we come up with the idea that WO should be brought to life again.

So far, this is what remains of the main website we used to be familiar with:

https://web.archive.org/web/20221121201207/http://wormolympics.com/

Unfortunately, it seems there is no way (for the time being) to take control over the website which (in addition) is offline due to domain’s expiration: no source code, no admin rights, etc.
After a quick discussion with @Florian Zemke (who kindly offered himself as a full-stack developer), a good option seemed to be the development of a new web application (probably with a fresh and more attractive layout). Of course, we should first make sure that the original WO can really not be salvaged.

Another point for the discussion is related to the back-end logic of the old application which includes the tournament system (e.g., points, patterns, etc.). A few questions arise: Should this be kept as it was? Should it be updated?

Considering all these bullet points, it would be nice to have as many opinions/considerations/feedback/information as possible from you all, as end-users and as people who potentially were (partially/fully) in charge of the old web application.

Bests,
‘rUNaW4y

Some fresh bread for your teeth.

User: Baldoro
Map: https://www.wmdb.org/44467

Although I have some other stuff to deal with, I review this map 2 times per day. The guy disagrees about "not-so-good-graphcis" and "unimaginative" tags.

That is why I come to you with a democratic approach.
Please post your option as per below:

- Elaborate: 1
- Good Graphics: 2
- Original: 3
- Themed: 4
- Sprites: 5

More than one option is allowed.

Bests,

TUS Discussion / TUS - Italian translation

Damn MI, can you please quickly update your back end by replacing "unti" (which means "greased people") with "Punti" (which stands for "points") since it slightly disturbs my small brain every time I try to see a posted game?
Thanks beforehand.

Schemes / Bet You Beat The Sheep - BTS based scheme
« on: May 07, 2020, 08:29 AM »
RULES:

This scheme is a variant of BTS scheme by Nail, based on Check Points for the BIG RR maps (instead of TTRR maps). It is based on points (pts).

The rules are quite simple:

The attached map is 5 Stages long map, so teleport your 5 worms to each Check Point before starting (on START, on Check Point #1, ... on Check Point #4). The Check Points are at the end of each Stage, below down. Before starting, each player should declare his intention in chat. The possible choices are:

I BET  I BEAT THE SHEEP (write B in the chat before starting your turn):
•   YOU BEAT THE SHEEP IN TIME: +2PTS
•   YOU DO NOT BEAT THE SHEEP (E.G. YOU FAIL SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE MAP OR YOU DO NOT GET IT IN TIME): -2PTS

I BET I DO NOT BEAT THE SHEEP (write NB in the chat before starting you turn):
•   YOU BEAT THE SHEEP ANYWAY: 0 PTS
•   YOU DO NOT BEAT THE SHEEP, AS PROMISED (E.G. YOU FAIL SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE MAP): -1 PTS

Demo:

Let me know your interest in order to:

1)   Improve the scheme;
2)   Provide quite difficult maps.

Your feedback is more than welcome.

Peace.
