when WWP came out Team17 got tired of announcing it was a totally different code done from scratch. Theyre not a valid source nor are they the ones who confirmed all this.

I discussed this same topic to lengths ages ago. In the end I figured it had to do with frame rate or a different speed in reading keyboard inputs. Nope

fact remains, it's the exact same and the rope behaves exactly the same and this has been confirmed many times by different people including Cybershadow

the gameplay was exactly the same

wormpot allowed some interesting multiplayer modes like "points for weapons" or quality of life improvements such as sticky mode on warmers. But beyond that, the moment you could minimize in WA the latter became a much superior game.

It was a success in sales. But it wasn't a successful console, far from it.  1653 games where developed for it, less than half compared to the PS2. And it was such a success in sales because it had a huge market, it marketed itself as a console that moms and grandfathers could play, and they did for 2 days before letting it rest in some obscure place in the living room, as seen in so many family homes.
