Off Topic / Hello I need a VPS
« on: June 06, 2014, 12:05 PM »
I need a 100 slots NP license TeamSpeak3 server with as close to 100% uptime as possible and reasonable ping for Spain (western europe)

I've been looking around and direct hosting would cost me around 25-40 dollars a month, but I haven't looked at many german/french websites and they are supposedly cheaper

I don't want to spend more than 5 or 6 euros a month and at this point I'm not even sure if that's possible.

It's work related-ish, and so far we have been using a free one from a local hosting network website thing but they've ran out of sponsors (duh)

Anyone has any idea if my expectations are reasonable? Or anyone with a VPS can do me a price? :P

Quote from: DarkOne
You can't punish a team if they don't play their own pick - they're already the team that got handicapped.

Handicapped is not the word and this is definetely not the case. You assume people pick what they're best at and what their opponent is worse at. And there's nothing stopping you from trying to pick based on this and still get it wrong - people aren't always right and you can't expect them to objetively rate skill at any given day and time, when they can't even get it right in a general context.

There's no intrinsic handicap in playing the other's clan pick. It's random who comes out better. In fact, said feeling can be different before and after the game. If I pick roper versus Chicken and he picks TTTRR, I migh see him RR first and change mind because he's suddenly amazing or I realize he's more warmed up than me, on a better spot to win the second game...

If you think a free win should be awarded for this, then you don't understand why free wins exist in the first place. They're there to ensure that if 2 people/clans play, both sides have the opportunity to play the scheme they want.

Well, free wins exist since the first or second league. As far as I'm concerned they were as a counter measure to double or nothing. Not to mention that most leagues had a rule enforced about  both games becoming mandatory once you start playing the first.

I'll stand corrected if you show me a source for these claims, but you're still wrong in practice, everyone uses the analyzer. You wanna go into detail why that's also contradicting to your speech about picks being about  playing your favorite schemes?

If I'm good at all schemes I want points, I don't care, I rather play two games. If Anubis picks BnG I will pick Rope, not because I'm better but because he has a high rating in both and I want to play BOTH to stand a chance at winning points because I'm sure I'll lose at least one but I can still grind out some points because he has a higher ratin, not if he leaves, of course not... There's a bunch of scenarios.

And when one is high in the rankings, this is as bad as avoiding.

Gaming Central / Dark Souls II interest check
« on: March 05, 2014, 10:21 AM »
So the best game of the decade (most likely dozens of decades) is about to come out in roughly a week for USA and a couple of days after in Europe.

The game isn't region locked so you can play with whoever be it in Japan, USA or Europe.

I'll be playing it on the PS3 and a couple of weeks later on PC, when it comes out.

If you tried Dark Souls and it wasn't for you (you probably don't like games at all or never gave it a true chance) this time around the game is more accesible for newcomers. It still doesn't hold your hand and if you want to know anything about the plot you will have to find it out yourself, but gameplay features are now more explained in the game not like in the previous one where you could complete it 10 times and be ignorant on 80% of the game's content.

You can check some Making of videos to convince you on how FormSoftware is the new leading example of videogame producing and how you're most likely missing on one of the biggest experiences in gaming if you don't give it a proper go (it's interesting from a game deveoloping point of view, since these guys have their own dogma on making games)

So, anyone is planning on playing from release?

TUS Discussion / Main page "Latest games"
« on: June 10, 2012, 12:11 PM »
Ever thought it might be a good idea to have a different "latest game box" for the latest posts in the complaints forum? Or maybe have it as an option so each user can decide his main page design?

I'm not sure about others but the latest posts in the main page is the thing I first look at, and I always find myself skipping the complaints posts because those are only relevant to the players/clans involved and the staff.

Thoughts?
