Description:
A quick (8-12 minutes) single player duel with CPU.
Tested and tuned for
v3.8.1 of the game.
NOT RECOMMENDED for human matches!Best played in a non-flat open space random map with 1 team of
4 human worms against 1 team of
8 CPU worms.
Settings for mines, barrels, fuse, and retreat times are default ("normal"). Includes only non-super weapons that may be used by CPU. Has crates (except tools) that also include weapons usable by CPU. Some weapons are slightly rebalanced in power: petrol and cluster bombs are stronger while the banana bomb is weaker, and a handgun can deal up to 36 hp of damage. All ammo is limited except Fire Punch. Sudden Death is activated after 4 minutes with no damage to health but relatively high flooding speed (37 pixels), in order to resolve potential stalemates.
By no means this is a challenging scheme — for me it's just a quick break during a working day...
...for all these 14 years since I made a v1.0 of this scheme (more than 800 matches played since then).
For a challenge (if you'd like to have one) I also have a list of personal "medals" for completing a match:
Bronze Medal — just win;
Silver Medal — all your worms must stay alive
OR you must win no later than making just 1 own turn in Sudden Death mode;
Gold Medal — both conditions for the Silver Medal must be satisfied.
"Gold" is absolutely doable as you can see in the included replay. However, I made a couple of crucial mistakes during that game so you can see that I was very close but ultimately failed with a "bronze".
Of course, going for gold apparently requires grinding for a specific random map and worm placement (and maybe a certain crate?), but that's the challenge if you need it.
In general, the more caves and closed spaces are present in the map, the harder and longer the game will be (though still up to 12 minutes due to Sudden Death).
