This was an interesting experiment, I didn't really feel motivated enough to participate though with such scanty turn time. The judging was accurate to me, but the one thing that stands out is spezi's score. Although spezi's run was smooth and looked good, half of it was basically scrolling, I think it should've been in the high 3 range instead. I'd expect the variety requirements here to be higher, such that 4s and above would have essentially no scrolling at all, since you're so pressed for time.

Scanty turn time?

If you can warm for 60 seconds either;

1) You fell
2) Roped at a sub-maximal speed
3) Did not push yourself hard enough to do more difficult tricks

60 second turns make me sick

The same is true for any amount of turn time though Dub, you can always push yourself way past the point of control. Also, your style along with everyone else's incorporates roping at sub-maximal speeds, it's both necessary and looks good for certain durations of time.

As time increases, quality decreases. Thats what I'm getting at.

in 60 secs it's true that you can come out with some amazing roping, but it's hard taking once in a challenge like this, and it's very irritating. We've already tried this.

30 secs maybe are not many, it's less irritating, but I felt that when i was up to make a great turn the time was already finished and after you play with this feeling.

it would perhaps fine a turn of 35 secs. just 5 secs more could be better... 35 secs.

Oof.. Those roping style challenges and the replays and everything look great but I still can't participate here. Firstly I need to find out how to shoot rope more than twice in a row ;O I just wanted to share with you pro freaks (someone is jealous ^^ ) an idea about a possible scheme. How about infinite turn time but the player decides later which of his 30 sec during the turn will be rated. Sometimes when warming with inf time some cool things happen during 30 straight seconds but is really hard to plan them to be at the beginning of a turn. In this way, when a player achieves 2-3 cool combos no matter when, he can start his "turn" from there (mentioning the exact time afterwards) and then fill the rest of the "30 sec turn" continuing to do decent tricks and hopefully not mess his good start ;D I believe that in this way much of the stress due to turn restriction is removed and way much better replays can be achieved. Because right now i believe there are lot of "damn nice moments who didn't make it to participate" just because of the "one turn restriction" . Just sayin' my humble opinion :)

I admit I got driven to play in this one because of the shorter 30s turns, since the prospect of playing a full contest offline turn just puts me off, given the fact that you can retry as much as you want to.
But then, the more I roped the more I realized 30s is just not good enough. 60s is the way to go for me, and I definitely enjoy online ones more.

Also [rant]if I had known beforehand that fast map coverage was the key element to raise your score, I would have sent another turn.[/rant]
[morerant]Also the fact that you have less time to do stuff makes it end up with radically more different turns, so the reasonable thing is to allow for more replays to be submitted and actually cover for the variety that half a turn cuts down.[/morerant]

I told you already Dub, but once more, well done! And thanks franz for hosting this challenge.

nice idea :)

as for final scores, I am trying my best everyone. if I ever become way off, I'm willing to stop doing challenges before it gets too dramatic, so just let me know. I'm doing these because I love seeing awesome roping :) it may just be inevitable that the top scores will always be controversial.

I don't understand how everyone can piss an moan about the time. The lower the time the higher in quality the run should be. Anything over 45 seconds requires a lot of boring ass roping in order not to fall.

So whens the GunDaM challenge start?  :P
