Description:
Academy of Artillery #2



Rules:

All matches are 'Best of 5'.

Players can agree on which scheme to play first, the loser gets the next pick, then alternate until someone reaches 3 wins first.

If players can't agree on first pick, play 'Comet Dodging' to decide who gets first pick, then alternate.

Map choice and style is decided by the player who picked the scheme, opponent cannot refuse the pickers map choice.

NO NSFW MAPS

If a draw happens on a mutual pick, both players must agree to a new scheme, they can however agree to the same scheme again.

If a draw happens when a player picked the scheme, that scheme goes back into the available schemes to pick and the other player gets to pick the next scheme from whatever is left to pick from.

TIEBREAKERS

In the event of a tiebreaker between any 2 players, they must play a Bo3 match using any of the 5 schemes.

The 1st pick will go to whoever won in their group stage match.

It will be mandatory that the Semi-Final and Final matches will be scheduled in advance and streamed at https://www.twitch.tv/WormsArmageddonCWA

AT LEAST 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE FOR THE MATCH TO BE SCHEDULED FOR STREAMING!

All other matches are optional though appreciated if you can organize for them to be streamed.

Deadlines:

There will be deadlines set for each stage, there will be no extensions. By signing up to the Cup you agree to these terms.

Group Stage - 4 weeks
Playoffs Quarter Finals - 2 weeks
Playoffs Semi Finals - 2 weeks
Playoffs Final - 2 weeks

These timelines are set in stone, each stage will take that amount of time before advancing.

Which means if one stage is finished early we must wait to proceed to the next stage.

It is each players responsibility to organize their matches before the deadline.

Organizing your matches within the official Cup thread takes priority over all other forms of communiation with your opponent when judging who will proceed due to unfinished matches.

Though players CAN organize their matches outside of TUS if they wish.

Wow, I had no idea it was set to private, that's mad! No wonder I had no idea when it works for me lol.

Yeah though, it's updated now!

When we made AoA last time, we changed the Aerial scheme due to your request actually, you didn't join anyway but the changes were welcome.

No crates, 3s fuse for mines and water rise.

We forgot the crates part, and just went with it, this time, it's fixed though!



Edit - We're probably going to change the Fort scheme as well so it's faster without SD.

I'm all up for making Aerial as competitive as it can get, as long as it doesn't become 3sec Hysteria.

In your "K" scheme, though, you left infinite uzi, 4 mortars, 4 petrols.. Which tells me you probably never even played this scheme properly. If you did, you'd know that these weapons totally kill the "sudden death" meaning to it, making it way too noob friendly and not competitive at all.

So please refrain of saying you "fixed" something which Walrus, oldsock, Salty, Jago, SiD and dozens of us really tested and fixed almost decade ago.

Crates create RnG, so that's an automatic NOPE!

So no, I won't refrain from saying the problem was fixed, when the problem actually being spoken about WAS fixed.

The problem is that I personally forgot to remove random crates from the scheme, and THAT problem was fixed, which is why I said it was fixed.

Your problem, which is a different problem, and as stated, is YOUR problem until you can convince me that it's, OUR problem.

I saw ZERO complaints about the Aerial scheme last time, other than crates being left on however didn't want to change the scheme again halfway into the Cup.

The only reason I made the "K" variant was so people knew it was a variant and there was a direct link in the Cup so that people get the right scheme for the Cup.

Now, uzi and mortars I couldn't care less about so if anyone else has issue with those I'll remove them, but petrols, I fail to see how that makes the scheme less competitive combined with water rise, especially when there are only 4 of them. I strongly disagree so will be keeping them in.

A lot of people say the same thing about Hysteria that it shouldn't have petrols and I disagree with them too.

Either way, this has nothing to do with competitiveness and more to do with taste, as with or without petrol the scheme is still highly competitive and skilled, and that's a literal fact.

Edit - That being said...

I'm not playing, but watching, so if everyone is ok taking out petrols, mortars and uzi, then I'll do it.

Well then there's your problem, you assumed.

Though I need to clear a few things up as well:

  • This is a TUS Cup, these events can be hosted using whatever schemes & rules the host wishes to use.
  • If your suggestions get rejected you shouldn't be so upset about it, life needs variety. That's what these Cups are for, trying things a little differently!
  • AoA Cups are also testing grounds for the schemes I consider to be worthy of an Artillery focused event, so while suggestions are all welcome and I will read them all, it doesn't mean I'll accept them all and integrate them into the event.
  • Aerial is one of the more flexible schemes in my opinion, it's a little bit more dynamic than the others, so it's ok to play custom Cups with custom settings so long as people follow the proper rules for the official leagues.

There was me trying to secretly sabotage my own Cup like an evil genius trying to annoy everyone without them realizing it!

Over 24 years playing Worms Armageddon, all that time was surely a waste where I learned nothing about the game lol!

Though regarding what you said there, anyone with half a brain can see why those things aren't related to each other.

Although, my point was not do I like or don't like this scheme. Point was it's not competitive as you say it is, since few weapons are still in there and they allow players to take advantage of noobish tactics when game is about to end. I do hope you'll consider new Aerial league scheme when it's up and running.

Edit - Actually while we are on the subject of scheme changes...

You may be aware we're changing the Fort scheme, or trying to at least lol.

So far, we've testing it with 100hp worms instead of 200hp worms, took banana out, no sudden death and no girder pack.

James and I are fans so far, Rocket seems ok but says it feels a lot different which it does because it focuses more on artillery BnG skill instead of SD stuff because it was always ending with water and plops that way with less precise shots.

We haven't came to a conclusion yet.

Haven't played Forts since 2015. probably. I'm up for trying that new scheme tomorrow if anyone is around.
