Finished

Description:
It's been a while since a tournament with this scheme has been hosted, so I feel the time is ripe!

The rules for this cup are quite simple. It's basically timetrial: place your worms at the start, rope to the finish. You'll have 3 worms each and worm gets one attempt to reach the finish.

Be nice with your placement! Don't get in the way of your opponent and such. Try not to stack the worms if it's possible.
If you lose time because your opponent ignored this or by accident (it happens!), just unstack the worms, aim your rope horizontal, skip turn and you can still have your turn with that worm. If you lose time and leave the start, that's your choice and you won't be allowed to go back to start and try again with that worm.

You have to activate low gravity every turn *before* you start roping. If you forget to activate it, rope back to the start, aim your rope horizontal and skip turn: you'll get another try with that worm.

The worm with the lowest turn time wins! If no worm finishes, the worm that got furthest will win.
The games will be best of 3, both in the group phase and in the knockout phase.

Map choices: no oneturners of the classic RR schemes and no abnormally huge maps (we don't want turns of 300 seconds as the winning time).

If you can't reach your opponent on WN, msn, IRC and whatnot: use the PM function on this site. Everybody is signed up here, so there's no excuse for not using that!

If you sign up, I suggest practicing this a bit offline, since LG RR is not the same as slomo RR. That's about it!

Time's up!

Group 1: easily the least productive group. I've heard that Dibz won his game against crash, but since he did not report, I can't really do anything with that result.
Crash seems to be the most active player, so he wins the group. The others will partipate in a lottery with equal chances. I sorted them alphabetically and used a random sequence generator make up a sequence (http://www.random.org/sequences/)
The player receiving the number 1 goes through to the knock-out section. The sequence was 1-3-2, which means that Dibz goes through as #2.

Please don't be this inactive again, though. You're making others wait.

Group 2: 1. Dulek 2. Random00.
Group 3: 1. Madden 2. DarkOne.
Group 4: 1. yanme 2. chakkman. Tenori, be more active in getting your games played next cup!

From now on, I'm having a deadline of 2 weeks for each round. If inactivity was a problem in one round, you will most likely be disqualified if the next round is also inhibited by inactivity!
If you have holidays coming up that will prevent you from playing your game in time post it here. At least then we'll know you can't play and we can arrange for something else.

So: Deadline for the first knockout round is February 1st!

Alright, I'll just post the deadlines for each round :)

Deadline for the quarter finals: February 1st 2010.
Deadline for the semifinals: February 15th 2010
Deadline for the finals/bronze match: March 1st 2010.

I think these times are not unreasonable at all :) You may use the first week of which round to find your opponent on msn/snoop/irc/icq/whatever, but if you're in the second week and you haven't found your opponent: Use this forum or use the PM function on this site. In case of the latter, don't forget to send me a CC, so I know you guys are doing your best.

PS: sorry I wasn't more of a challenge, yanme  :-[

sigh @ Dibz.
No game played and no post made here by tomorrow = Dibz is out. You have not responded to my personal message. You have not responded to Dulek's personal message. You have not responded to him on msn.
No more than fair that Dulek goes through if there's no activity from your end whatsoever.

Random's busy with exams this week and therefore has a valid reason for not playing yet.
Deadline for crash vs Random is now 8th of february.
I will be away on holidays for a week starting tomorrow, but I've asked MonkeyIsland to keep an eye out :)

I always thought 'I had a match in worms' excuse was valid for exams/schools/uni/life XD
Due to massive misunderstandings: MonkeyIsland refers to an island not a monkey. I would be a monkey, if my name was IslandMonkey meaning a monkey who is or lives on an island. MonkeyIsland is an island which is related to monkeys. Also there's been a legend around saying MonkeyIsland is a game. So please, think of me as an island or a game.

Dear me! I seem to have earned myself a '4' vote!
I hope my vacation wasn't the reason for that :)

I've sent all you guys a PM regarding the semifinals, since the deadline is next monday! I don't have a problem being lenient with the deadline as long as I can see some effort in getting the games played :)

Guys, you have 2 days.
Post on the cup forum or send a pm to your opponent with a CC to me; suggest a day and a time to play your game.

If you don't, I'll assign a random bronze medal winner.

Message sent to yanme and Madden today.

Random and Dulek have given a good reason for postponing their game and will play their games soon :)

Sorry to hear that, sir. I hope you're feeling well now.

About the second part, I really prefer that you don't wait for your opponent to name a time, because that's usually exactly what your opponent does :)

Sorry for not responding to the PMs. I've just entered the final month of the final year of my degree course. Being the lazy-wormer-type student that I am, I've got ALOT of work piled up. I won't be playing any worms until the end of this month, so the bronze is yours Yanme! I haven't played much recently anyway so I doubt I'd have put up much of a fight :s

Thanks for a well run tourny DarkOne, I hope it hasn't discouraged you from hosting more in future :p
