[SOLVED] GLITCHING/CHEATING in TUS League Games
« on: November 06, 2009, 04:46 AM »
Okay, Here is my complaint.

The definition of Glitching.

In video games, a glitch is a programming error which results in behavior not intended by the programmers. Glitches may include incorrectly displayed graphics, collision detection errors, game freezes/crashes, sound issues, and others. Some glitches are potentially dangerous to the game save data. [2]

"Glitching" is the practice of a player exploiting faults in a video game's programming to achieve tasks normally impossible if the game's script runs as intended, such as running through walls or defying gravity. It is often used to gain an unfair advantage over other players in multiplayer video games.

That's straight off Wikipedia.

Now I played a TUS roper with Unique.
He did a " zook " bug/glitch.
To me, I feel that is a cow. It's cheating, as you can read the definiton of a glitch yourself.
It's unfair.

I read the League rules, and there is no rule on weither a " glitch " is a cow, or is not a cow.

Unique said it is legal in TUS. And MonkeyIsland said that it's been happening for about two years now, so he's used to it.

Those are thier opinions, and I shared mine. I would also like to see your opinions on this subject.

I feel that the TUS league should make a rule stating weither " glitches " are a cow, or are not a cow, since it is not in the rules. ( I know i repeated myself. )

On the Replay I posted On his First turn he " zook " glitches me, and OF COURSE. I got pissed. I could have completley blown up, but I tried to keep my cool.

Also: Remember that this is not a post to comment on my behavior or his behavior, this post is about GLITCHING. So keep it on the subject that matters. I don't care what you think about my attitude, weither its wrong nor right.

I won't apologize for my actions as I feel as a Long Time Roper, Glitching in any type of game is cheating.
I own a xbox360 With xbox live. Made by Microsoft. If you cheat on XBOX LIVE. You get BANNED/KICKED off of xbox live for a such period of time.

Me being a gamer, I don't cheat. Its Unsportsman-like. And I do not support any cheaters ever.

Please post your responses on what you think.

( I also lost a BnG game to him, because i would not play him anymore because of this result of " cheating ". )

i think your overreacting a little, some glitches are very harmful i agree(like going on the roof in t17) atleast half of the players in ag have used the "zook glitch" in league games and its impossible to penalize every1 for it and it would probably just give us a headache from so many complaint threads

lol yeh, I think the rules say zook glitch isnt allowed.

Just go to the complaints forum and the game will be voided lol, no need for this!

This is the complaint forum, and no where in the rules does it say it's cheating or not. The only rule that is applied to cheating is using a program to cheat. Obviously doing a glitch like the " zook " glitch, isn't using a program. It's just minipulation of the system.

@Wooka: I'm not over-reacting. It's still cheating in my eyes. In my 8 years of roping, I have never seen anything like this. It was a surprise to me. I would not complain if everyone knew how to do it, but it is a disadvantage to players who do not know how to " glitch " like that. I'm still sticking to my opinion. I think it should be a cow, or the game should be voided.

Giving a headache? If you make it a cow, it would be the same thing as attacking without getting a crate, or not attacking from rope. Just because you ( not YOU in general but League MODS ) don't want to deal with situations like this doesn't mean the rest of us should have to suffer the consiquences of other players actions.

Like I said, this is my opinion. I'm not a mod or anything like that. I'm just voicing what I think is right.

Also, I'm not just talking about roper. I'm saying in general. Like your example of T17.

Other players in AG have agreed that even in shopper it's cheap, because it is used as a easy plop.

I apologize for making this a bigger deal than it was suppose to be. I just can't stand glitching or cheaters. I hate playing games where people minipulate it, and then laugh because you don't know how to do it.

As he said while in game, " You should be happy that I even showed you. " ( Maybe not EXACT words, but close enough. )

No. I don't care for petty glitches that make no sense. I'll never do one, and I really don't want to find out how to do it because I, personally, don't care.

A little side note for this,

MavericK was a Worms 2 player. Apparently There's no such glitch in Worms 2.
I've seen this glitch in both WWP and W:A, And even from the very moment I started to play worms online. That's why It is normal to me and so surprising to him.
Due to massive misunderstandings: MonkeyIsland refers to an island not a monkey. I would be a monkey, if my name was IslandMonkey meaning a monkey who is or lives on an island. MonkeyIsland is an island which is related to monkeys. Also there's been a legend around saying MonkeyIsland is a game. So please, think of me as an island or a game.

Is this where the zook stays on the corner of the worms head? Did unique use this on first turn when ur ment to zook to attack? I think its kinda unfair if he did as hides are important on first turn as u wanna go somewhere where its harder to be zooked from and encourage ur enemy to miss so advantage goes to urself.

If someone zook glitched me on first turn of roper id complain also.

I share Maverick's opinion about glitches. Some people will argue that anybody can learn how to do them, some glitches are hard to or can't be predicted (for example petrol exploding when thrown from the rope, double fire-punch causing 60 damage, double skunk poisoning, etc.), but still, intentional use of glitches IMO shouldn't be allowed. Zook glitch (and other, like changing bat angle) can only be pulled off completely intentionaly.

I play to finally rewrite the league rules this weekend and include things like that, make the rules more clear and specific. Do other mods agree that we include "anti-glitch" rule? I don't think that would cause any extra complaints (at least not a considerable amount :)) and it would prevent complaints like this: https://www.tus-wa.com/forums/complaints/10105-game/.

Now Maverick, about this game: We never voided games for something that wasn't in the rules at the time complaint started, neither can we void this game now (see the link above). I hope you can understand this.

Cheers.

IMO, We have different glitches. A nade passing through walls is different than bat angle.

I think we may even call some glitches as some skill. Double fire punch? I'd love to learn it!!

That's fine, I don't care that it's a loss because at the time there was no rule, but i do think me and him should have to play the BnG game over, the only reason i would not play him again was because he wanted to be cheap, and I wanted to see if it was a COW or not. So the roper is a loss, but the BnG I feel we should have to play again, but You have pretty much summed up everything I was trying to say. Thank you.

@Chicken23: I went First and didnt atk because of his hide. Then on his first turn, he pulled the " glitch " thing. But what if he wouldn't have used the glitch? he could have missed? you never know! if he would have missed maybe I would have played serious ? or Maybe I could have won? ( Probably Not, due to year n half inactivity. ) But still! Can't take chances like this. Also Chicken, I attached the replay on my first post, If you'd rather just watch it.

Giving a headache? If you make it a cow, it would be the same thing as attacking without getting a crate

that would be the best way to handle it as a cow... but my point was that a majority of league players are used to it and dont consider it a big deal, it would cause alot of arguments and confusion from people saying if it was a cow or not, lets face it alot of players dont know every single rule and make themselves aware of them especially if we keep throwing new ones at them

anyways if MI and rok wanna make it a cow, fine by me

Well, Rok has already said in a previous post that he is down to make a rule for this.

@Rok: And as you said some glitching might be accidental. Yes. I agree, also as you said some glitches are intentional ( exp: zook glitch ) those are the types that should be cow.

I also asked if mods agree on making it a rule. I don't intend to do anything on my own. And for once I disagree with you, wooka - I don't think people are used to glitches in league games, especially not to zook glitch. Also, glitches were forbidden in leagues before (correct me if I'm wrong here), so players don't need to learn anything new here.

I know, but he wanted me to ask you if you wanted to, and as I figured as a obvious answer would be Yes. Because of your post. Not saying only you, that's why he asked me, to ask the other mods on thier opinion on making the rule.

Sorry, my bad.

You were right to bring this topic up.

Personally I feel all glitches should be allowed (although i dont know how to do the rope drop tricks), seeing as anyone can learn how to do them I dont see a problem with them, although I can see why you wouldnt want them to be allowed. Im happy either way.
