We are civilized. We are pointing out the Immoral practice and the Impartial decision making.
If the situation were reversed I think people would react poorly. So Instead in such reversed situation I'd make a poll Darts or ZaR. While ZaR could lose in this poll, I'd walk away with good conscience knowing I made the right call.
Well, to begin with, you are missing the entire point of this League Kradie, also, as I've said before, it's like you guys are agreeing to the T&C and then being surprised when it actually happens.
Immoral practise? Please, explain how ANYTHING I've done regarding the current TRL League is immoral.
Impartial decision making? You're saying it's not biased, but it IS biased when it comes to a split vote, and I explained that when this League was first proposed AND more importantly approved:
For most future Seasons there will be polls to decide the scheme and the scheme variants as well as if it will be Best of 1, Best of 3 or Best of 5 for each scheme to win.
This means that ANY scheme can be used.
Here's a few more possibilities, remember - Artillery/Physical/Strategic:
Black Hole BnG / Bungee Shopper / Elemental
Paranoia / Surf Shopper / One of Everything
Plop War / Trick Race / Kaos
Hysteria / Darts / Abnormal
Forts / Wascar / Board Game
Literally any scheme as long as it fits the right criteria to match each category of schemes!
However, since this is something that I have planned and funded alone and that MonkeyIsland has approved for me to manage alone, of course, help is appreciated! I plan to make sure that classic variants or my personal favourites are used from time to time. As TRL is just the testing ground, if it's successful the way I hope, it'll develop into it's own thing.
Which means most of the time, I won't really have a say in which scheme is picked unless it's a split vote. Though a few seasons a year will be dealers pick! Which I will genuinely base on what I want to see as well as what people actually want!
So don't worry thinking I'm going to be picking anything that people don't like, you have to keep in mind that the nature of this League is not to be selfish! It's to accept how other people want to play as well while still using and respecting authentic and traditional schemes.
On the Seasons which I pick what schemes are played, if there is actually a big backlash to this, or heavy protesting to do something else, of course I'll take that into consideration!
After all I'm doing this both because I want to see the best of the best compete, but also see it from all corners of the globe with a variety of skillsets.
I'm actually quite hopeful that the majority of players will bring some interesting suggestions, it'll be exciting to see which 3 schemes are used each Season and to see how each players improves at each scheme since you only need to focus on 1 of each type each Season.

Remember, this is a League that I've created that's being used inside MonkeyIsland's League...
Let's clear it up and fully explain the reasoning why this new League exists:This is Leagueception, it's a league within a league within a league... It's CWA within TUS within TRL.When I brought the idea of CWA(The 3 scheme Artillery/Physical/Strategic) to MonkeyIsland he liked the idea but proposed using TRL as TRL already had all the requirements and setup needed to run the League, and since TRL was inactive we decided to use it as a testing ground sort of. This means we could see if anybody would even like the idea, and MonkeyIsland wouldn't have to invest as much of his spare time adding an extra League on the website.
Think of it like this... I like TUS Allround and TUS TFL League, and although I'm not a fan of the amount of different schemes they offer they do still provide great competitive gameplay, I really enjoy Clanners!. The problem for me has always been that there are too many schemes to realistically practise at the top level and that the Playoffs only requires you to play Bo5.
I, and many others, very often over the years have made a point of really disliking the experience of playing specific schemes. You've got to remember, this is a hobby we do in our spare time, we're supposed to enjoy our spare time as an escape from work, family, or whatever... How can you realistically expect to grow a community when you keep isolating people like this? It doesn't matter if Sbaffo thinks you are "a p***y" or if you get called an avoider... If I have a choice of spending a few seconds reading a biased insult as opposed to spending hours and hours of my spare time doing things I don't enjoy... You better believe I'm choosing being insulted because that takes seconds and leaves me with more free time to enjoy my life.
I've noticed something personally over the history of this game... For the past 20 years the general activity of the game online has felt exactly the same for me. However, from my perspective, the general activity of the mainstream competitive scene(us) seems to have gradually got lower and lower as more and more schemes were added to the selection of competitive schemes to compete in the main allround league. The main leagues are trying to do too many different things at the same time there's too much choice... You've got clans who have ZERO ropers, or ZERO strategic players or ZERO bng players and even when people agree to play clanners and singles, it's becoming more common you may spend up to 5-10 minutes debating on the scheme to pick, or what map to use etc.
Over the past 5 years I've noticed patterns where people are more willing to come together for specific competitive environments, which is why Cups and Challenges are still going so strong, Cups especially, in my opinion, are the best thing on TUS at the moment. Well, that and the current TRL now.
Anyway, I've always thought of WA as being 3 categories of gameplay, Artillery, Physical and Strategic. For me the ideal competitive environment is taking the "less is more" approach. You have less schemes, but in theory a higher level of skill and more players competing when players focus on just the 3 schemes during that Season.
Doing it this way is a compromise for CWA and for TRL to combine both ideas in a way that maintains the TUS charm of playing the Season however you enjoy! As in you can play just 1 scheme and focus on that individual schemes standings and compete against the others who play that scheme and even opt out of the Playoffs if you don't care about the prizes. However the main focus for serious players will be reaching the playoffs, achieving glory by being the best 3 scheme allrounder and winning some decent prize money as well as just enjoying the game and having the chance to play against the best players in the world, learning new skills and improving.
Less is more is very important, I feel like the way the mainstream League of WA works has grown out of control, kind of like a garden in the sense that... If your grass grows too long and there is too much, it looks messy and untidy. If you keep it nice and trimmed it's more appealing, neat, tidy, organized. And that potential players are customers looking to play in the garden, if it's a mess, they will keep looking for other gardens to play in.
In our case we have too many schemes being used competitively for the size of garden we have... We have too many schemes and not enough players Even if we had more players it's still not ideal because only a small percentage of those would have enough time to master 12 schemes for allround and 21 schemes for TFL. We simply DO NOT have enough time on our hands as adults to sit playing WA 8-16 hours a day to play THAT many schemes!
How many TOP allrounders do you actually see these days? Like proper allrounders who are way above average at every scheme, and let's just say, you can't count anyone who started WA before 5 years ago... I don't see any, not a single person. I see a lot of people who are top players, or specialize at at least 1 out of 3 category, and is good enough at another category that they actually have a chance of winning against a lot of people who share similar traits.
That's why I know deep down we're onto something good here... So good that we've received an official sponsor and even more prize money from another player! If we can continue to grow and support each other with this idea, who knows in a few years we could have £1000's on the prize money with sponsors from keyboard organizations and what not... It's a pipe dream, but it's definitely possible with the right enthusiasm and support.
If the CWA Twitch channel keeps growing and making more money from subscribers and donations then all that goes to prize money. We also have several players who like putting money towards well organized and popular events here as well. This entire idea exists because I've been paying attention to what people are literally complaining about and asking for and trying to put it all together.
It's not REALLY my idea, it's yours, the community as a whole. It's my project to organize it all and make decisions when required. For the most part, it's YOU guys who are running the show though with YOUR vote.
I'm not doing this for me, I'm doing it for the community and if other people sponsor it, THEY will have a say in what happens as well, that's how it works.
Moral of the story, Kradie, if you want ZaR, then get support from your ZaR community, it's that simple.
