you guys want to introduce money while we dont even a working infracstructure in this league?

-we still dont have a rule for lagouts in 2 vs 2 games,

we still have a non working information policy:
people put wrong schemes cos somehow they dont read announcements, rules for leagues and schemes are spread all over this homepage in a very confusing way (for example the current linked bng scheme doesnt even include rules>> as a newcomer you are basicly forced to find the old scheme.)

imo we should fix these things first.

on the topic: i kinda dislike the idea people are motivated in their hobby cos they can earn money. but more activity and challenge is always a good thing. having ads would be fine for me, doesnt really bother.

pros:

- will probably increase activity
- motivate players to increase their skillset
contras:

- more drama (money always causes drama xD, exept u do it in a small seperated group like ea)
- many people already stopped playing the league because of a very competitive style of playing.

how is there not a rule for lagouts??? and screw the bng scheme ;p

obviously introducing money to the league would be mainly for the pros... i dont think that newbs that dont know what the bng rules are, have a shot to win any money...

but it will give them incentive to learn, and become pro...

but peja, if you think there are problems with-in the site, and think they should be fixed, you should tell monkeyisland how to fix them, rather then just saying they should be fixed.

ontopic: i see your pros.. a con is that there may be more drama, sure people will take it more seriously, but i dont think that its going to be a huge increase in drama... we have fair players, that are always going to play fair.. and we have drama queen, complaint whores.. i wont say any names...

as far as people not playing because ppl take the league to serious, thats not a valid complaint... if they wont wanna take league seriously then they should not be in it to begin with... maybe their views would change if money was introduced tho.

Peja hit all the nails on the head there.

It's a nice idea, but this League is nowhere near strict enough, or professional enough, to handle such a thing.

And it isn't worth having annoying popups unless we have things running smoothly and efficiently.

well avi i would be glad if you would check for informations just 1 f@#!ing time before you start talking xD.

well just for you although you could have done it by yourself:

2) Lag-outs

If one player lags out and returns to the given channel, the game should be continued with handicap or restarted.
If a game is lagging, do not quit. Quitting means you surrender. If a game lags out, let it lag out.
If a player lags out and is not seen online 10 minutes later, then the game is taken care of by the following rules:
If it was the first game, then the game should not be reported, rather played at another time.
If it was the second game and the loser of the first game was seemingly losing the second game too, it can be reported. At any other occasion the moderators will decide about the outcome of the game, after it is posted to the forum's League Complaints section.
Moderators will never decide about the outcome of a game considering the skills of the players. Always the state of the game is what the moderators consider.

all these rules work only for singles. we dont have a sepecific rule how to handle lagouts of 1 player in clanners.guess i dont need to remind you on barmans aggressive torchxD
furthermore there are also more questions, like at which point its useless to continue playing when someone keeps dropping.

its annoying but ok having these flaws right now. but if we get seriously paid for winning a league, (doesnt matter if its just about small earnings) we should have clear strict rules.

Why would I read into something I already know?

Those rules easily translate into 2v2. .. barman should have surr on that torch, we all know his intention was not to resume the game, but the fact of the matter is that he did make an aggressive move... at the time I thought it was bs, but looking back at it with a level head mods most likely made the right choice.

This game has too many variables and unpredictable events to have a written rule fr every single situation. Otherwise we would have a rule book a thousand pages long that no 1 would read...

If you f feel strongly about a certain aspect of the rules that is not perfect, you should write up the rules for it, and ask for it to be looked over and approved by a complaint mod...  rather then just pulling a 'ray' and pointing out what wrong with no motivation to fix it

Google adwords is the way to go :) not very intrusive, won't make the site slower, and they're reliable.

i agree that not every rule is not crystal clear, and i agree mostly with husk, that disconnects will be painful..

but if we are not ready now, after 12 years of w:a or however long its been, we are never going to be ready..

maybe some rules are not exactly great, and maybe lagouts are an extreme pain in the ass, but like i said.. this game has too many variables to put each situation on paper... thats exactly why we have mods

ok.. so if some people dont think that the league is ready to introduce money, because some rules are not on point.. i can respect that...

but i think we can still have advertisements, and start to earn money... i mean, why not??

MonkeyIsland can finally start earning money for all his work, and with MI's blessing, we can start putting the money towards other things, that benefit the entire community.

advertising the game to other gaming communities, having smaller tournaments hosted by TUS, with small cash prizes, making donations to Cybershadow, and DeadCode for all their work, maybe having some sort of raffles for nice keyboards, or tournaments for keyboards, or buying w:a for interested newbs (through steam) or we can save the money, and do even bigger things (WormsCon type things)

maybe have a committee that can discuss how the money is split up each season...

yeah thats nice idea
We can make tourneys and put W:A key on steam as a prize, not only wormers will be interest in such tourneys.

I have another idea. There is alot of guests on site, lets try to pop-up advertisment only for guests first, if it will bring enough money i think we can stuck to this type of advertisment (adds will force guests to register which is another bonus for tus), if we wont earn much with this, then everyone gotta enjoy adds i guess :D

so, MI, do you have any suggestion? When you gonna put the adds? Google adds is fine i think
