Thanks for all the feedback
I know the movie itself is not that spectacular, but keep in mind, this is my first attempt and it's just me getting used to the video editing software
I have plenty of ideas for other projects that I want to get done!
The movie was intended as a showcase for the challenge, considering the enormous amount of time that went into making it (and it seems even some of my clan mates had no idea of the intended solution, but considering the vast amount of stuff to do in worms, I can hardly blame them) and wanting for a larger audience to see it.
The first 2 replays were basically just an introduction: they were nice shots, but if you think that's all there is to WA, get ready for some of the batshit stuff you can pull in W:A.
The panning over the map was somewhat of a problem. There's no feature in W:A that allows you to pan over the map in a fluent way and my video card didn't allow for a bigger resolution than 1280*1024, so I wasn't able to do it in the video editor. Alternatively, I could've just used the image, but I wanted the "okay wormer" from the first replay to see the map and give up in the face of the challenge, so it had to be there from the start of the panning. (omg, a storyline! what a nerd!)
But yeah, it was a good learning experience
The rendering part was the main reason I didn't want to start with too big a project (that and I didn't want to waste too much of other people's time with a long, boring one cause I have so much to learn). In future projects, I want to add special effects and all that jazz.
Maybe I could do some voiceover stuff. Several people have now told me I could go into voice acting (you know, if that other career doesn't quite work out
, but you can judge for yourself:
D1 first blood.mp3
(94.62 kB - downloaded 29 times.)
D1 evil genius.mp3
(90.68 kB - downloaded 23 times.)
D1 evil laugh.mp3
(128.37 kB - downloaded 18 times.)
(additional effects provided by Khamski, thanks man!)
I think it only took him 40 tries
35, but that was after the map was finished, of course
Finding the right spots for all the moves, the correct width of tunnels and all that took somewhat longer, of course. In all, the map took several months to make, but some of the ideas were formed a few years before I even started.
