So I never delete my replays, and I've been playing this game a long time (years before replays were recorded :( ). I thought it would be interesting to have a thread for posting/requesting replays of various players through the years... Since 2004 I'm sure a lot of people went from newbs to pros. So if you have requests for old replays of a player, want to post replays of yourself over time, or have old replays of a player to post, post them here.

I don't have any replays. But I've got some old tourney results for those who care.
They are FB tournaments held in 2005 over 5 seasons.
I originally saved them to incorporate them into some kind of world ranking (a sum of the results achieved in various worms leagues), but it just seemed to require too much maintainance, so I dropped it. It's still nice to see some of the old elite players in there though :)

I just had to search an old CD where I found all my replays from Febbruary 2004 to October 2004. Very funny to watch them :D

niceness (= HiT was the first clan I joined in wa, I remember he had nice stats in cl2k single ladder (yea i know ppl blamed him only picking roper and with DoN he would win 2-0) still, I looked up to him.

It's cool seeing that was been an evolution in the tipology of maps to warmer... Before it seems that you used larger maps, with an empty space in the middle. they were too different... maybe... in roper maps too I have seen another one change... what do yu think about?

Yeah maps used to be more laid back many years ago, especially Warmer maps, no one, I mean NO ONE warmed on WxW maps back then lol.
I can dig out more replays with very good ropers if you want, but not with Fudo, if you want?

Ye, but also in random map there is an important difference..ye, they were more relaxed, more space and it seems that there were more players playing warmer then now ehehe. We are a very small combo now who play it, specially in random maps...

Yeah ANO, back then Warmers were the big thing, I am not saying it was like this for everyone, but people who were great at warmers were considered like, the popular people on WNET, if you were great at warmers and roping you were respected, ain't as easy as that now, i'll always love warmers and roping, but i'm just 2 lazy for it now lol.

My oldest replay dates 2004-03-21.
Most of my replays are shoppa games I think. I deleted my replays between 01-05-2005 and today, because I havent played more then a month continuesly during those years.
To add to the topic, here are some warmers/ropers with oldschool players:
VoltageIWC, Skel, aenimic, BacK2SkooLSFX, llwpllrox, NBRthewalrus, mmsprek, kronwwa, sickropes, VoltageIWC, dismember, joshlldSll, Snoopx2x, llWcDllChUpIkA.
All of them date 2004. I think none of them are active now, they are mostly oldschool players who have been in the oldschool clans (SFX, X2X, WcD etc..)
I didn't check the chat for private info, I think there is none.
Don't judge my roping, I never claimed to be a pro.

Came over some funny games vs flex, it was a bng for cl2k i think ;P Some nice nades from flex at the start, then i tele my worm way too close to him, then i tele underneath him, and we start to fight, lol.. i do understand flex at some part when i watch the game 7 years later, my hide was kind of a darkside i guess ::) and my attitude was bad, but people change, we were just kids. we still argue a bit tho, but thats good, i love u flex <3
Also, a bng with me and Guy vs fada and Chupika. Miss him indeed, he was a cool guy. The only thing he said during this entire game was "im stoned" though xD

I recently started playing again - Used to be in BFW and a couple other clans before that;\ I'm pretty disappointed with how awful I am now so if anyone with replays from 5~ years ago could quickly search for bfw or nex / nexile in their replays and possibly find one with me in it, I'd love to see it xD Some of these are pretty cool ^^

Naw. I had the game in 2001 but at the time I was too young,stupid and computer illiterate so I just figured my game was broken because I didn't know I had to double click on the server to get into the multiplayer part of the game. I'd just play offline ropers with my older brother and friends ^^ He seemed to know all the schemes. I assume he knew how to get online >:[

I have tons of replays with old players, here's an old warmer with Moose! He was a very skilled warmer that I knew from back in the days of WWP, still great by today's standards. It's funny to watch myself rope 6+ years ago, I spent most of my time doing bouncy outlaws and kicks.

I remember him, some solid roping there! Here`s a funny game with az01, where he`s trying to explain me the essence of "timetrial roperacing" (time counts down from 90 sec). I had never tryed to play counting it down from 90 sec before this game, and Az was not even sure if this was how it really should be played ;X But i guess it was some kind of pre-timetrial shit?

Turns counting upwards from 0 secs weren't always part of WA. The timetrial setting got introduced in one of the later patches, we used to put 90 sec turns back then (120 wasn't available either) and whoever had more time left by the finish would win.

Yes you interpreted it correct Dark, it was a sort of a question. I can`t recall everything from those times, and I can be honest and say I only remember that we played with 30 sec (not 90 sec also), and then started with TTRR when TT was presented in one of the previous updates. Which is why I was a bit surprised :P

I'm pretty sure that the first mainstream use of the ttrr scheme was in the CL2K rr challenge of Pi's "Mission Impossible 2". I guess others may have used the scheme before this, but as a super active racer at the time I can say that I'd never played the scheme before. If anyone knows when this was I think it would give a really accurate representation of when the TT scheme came into exsitence, as I'd never played it before, and I think it was all I played after this challenge!

... but I also remember playing RR with 90 second turn time and looking at the time that was left on the clock when you finished, so I wouldn't be too quick to pronounce that the official birth date of TTRR, heh. It was version 3.6.19.17 that made the turn counter go up from zero (instead of going nuts) when set to a negative value though, yeah, and that update was released about a month before Deadcode's MI2 tool-assisted run was made.
It's a pretty good estimation of when the current TTRR scheme became more widely accepted, at least. Still, it wasn't a clear-cut transition, and for quite a while a bunch of players still liked the old RR better.

In tournaments, it was a true test of consistency, first fall you're out!

I think Dextah090 introduced the scheme to the community at large with a RRkit tourney :) Had the 90 second timer, only because it wasn't possible to have the turn time set to infinity. It was used in a couple of following RRkit tourneys too (cause I liked having different types of RR in different tourneys, had LG, had mirror RR, 3 star ropes, timetrial, 50% timetrial, oh the endless possibilities!)
I think the infinite timer was added specifically to accomodate timetrial though, so I'll still call the 90 second version the birth of timetrial.

I remember moose now... At first I was like "if it's the moose I know, he's canadian." Then I realized that it would be pretty rare for someone who's not Canadian to use the name moose ;p but yeah, moose is actually probably the oldest name I can remember in worms.

Hm, roping looks all so normal on these old replays... when you watch a warmer nowadays it looks like 50% of the players use some kind of macro.

That's false, I didn't pick names that were already in use, I don't like it since I am forced to rope "like that". Aliasing for me is to develop a new rope style, try different approaches on the rope other than the usual I used to. I have often aliased just with the use of 1 Finger tapping, cross handed, double hand tapping (old school Komodo style) but I really didn't like imposters.

That's because I check these forums every day, not all threads but the ones that interest me. ;)
I can't remember ropa impostering volrin though, at that time we were pretty close in terms of knowing what the other one is doing. Team name, Wormname and flag seem to be right though.

Unfortunately I don't have my old sCa replays anymore, you will have to ask Mablak. Me and Mab actually made a little alias clan one time, we then could recruit saltyk to join our little clan, it was just a fun clan not for leagues and we were just warming around but if I remember correctly we had awesome turns there. Again Mablak is your only hope for that.

No it wasnt me, its Anubis and Mab played x)
haeuhuaha, kaleu, open replay and press S, it will show game frame by frame, here you can check tapping speed and find macro, if you look parts with max tapping speed you can see anubis tapping mostly 2frames between tap, mablak doing 3frames, I am able to do 3-4frames with one space lol, so the speed is ok, if you practise stuff like guitar/piano/speedcubing/pen spinning for years or at least dont have lame fingers you are able to do faster as well.
Id say doing such tapping is normal, but controling tap so well is what make them looking haxxy but in fact its thing you cant cheat with

there is only one zillian who can really troll, and I dont think nino have knowlege on hacking other accounts. Even allthrough kaleu uses password equal to his IQ (42), or less, because he obviously cant count to a number bigger then 12. Maybe thats not much, but still enough for him to count his age ;)

See guys, w:a is dead. We feed our fun with stuff from the past. We all miss the good old days, many players tried to come back but they don't get the same passion as they used to. Totally logical. W:A is past now, FACT.
A real shame, because the game has the best web site w:a has ever had, seems like it came in in the wrong era.

I've been playing almost 6 hours a day in June and August, aliasing, (as Morph and others) joining every single host (intermediate, Moleshopper, "sbs schemes rofl" a bunch of shoppers, hosting my own games ropers etc) and I only got to play with noobs who end up quiting and maybe 5-6 cool players like Heisenberg, Alien, Dilboy, Mat27... but that's all.
What I mean is, where are those days where you could play fun games without having to SCHEDULE GAMES? EA elitist? CUPS? LOL... it's f@#!ing worms.
Yeah nobody cares but it is how I see this, what the hell are those bunch of dead people on the snoopers, miss so much the WWP days when everyone who was in the channel was actually there to play with ya! You've never seen me in wormnet through a snooper. What I see is the community got split into noobs and tus and nobody give a damn to teach noobs as to how to play ropers or ttrr's, neither elites. They're all dead schemes. It's absolutely astounding when I find out players that have been playing merely shoppers for about 2 years, lol.

A few things I've noticed since I've come back is that people are drawing a huge line between the Old Days vs Today. Everyone dreams of the old days and how amazing warmers and propers and elites etc all were. Heck, even I say that! But if you look at a clear difference, is that the game has evolved. We never had this WxW game back then. Hell, we didn't even have replays! It was a time where most of us were the ages of 12-17 trying to escape in the newly found Internet. We used fricken 56k dialup back then! I remember having to muffle a pillow behind my computer when I was signing into AOL at 2am of a school night!
Now W:A has a bunch of new games, contests, schemes and maps that we have made to make the game more interesting. However, we still want the "old" feeling back too. Well guess what, it's gone. I hate to admit it but that's just how it is. This game has evolved and we need to either embrace it or sit in the back table of a party pointing out all the newb dancers.
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this post, but it too felt like an appropriate response to Leroy.
TL;DR - I miss the old days. But they are gone. Love, Varial.

it's not so black and white
people need motivation to get that good and it often comes from competition, without competition the level bar could potentially go lower; it certainly isn't a straight bar like you make it out to be.

pretty rare find i guess... being there was no replays, they had to record this during the game... nice stuff in there for not having the luxury of picking out the best stuff out of replays, like we have now....
only guy i remember is shenlong, and i dont even remember him, just name is familiar... they are all brazillian guys, it seems.. maybe this new group "w2" that has been popping up on w:a will know these guys better...
some things i noticed: this is obviously after 1 of snatch's patches, because its the lower resolution (not sure how we ever roped on big resolution) and there are more then 9 shots per rope... but it must be before another one of snatchs patch, cuz he did away with the annoying pop up at top of screen "99 swings left, 98 swings left, 96 etc)
another thing to notice, is retreat time is only 5 seconds... its amazing how w:a newbified roper *winks*
and, just a funny thing, clusters are in place of nades... w2 was so customizable, ppl used cluster, but made them the power as nades, and made mortars react to wind as zooks did, and would use mortar instead of zook, and some ppl even had clusters shoot from the bomb, but with no damage, and no blast radius... every little tiny detail to each weapon was customizable, i believe u could even make a grenade react to the wind... so, i noticed some guy recently made a w:a weapon editor very similar.. so that will be cool...

My oldest replay dates 2004-03-21.
Most of my replays are shoppa games I think. I deleted my replays between 01-05-2005 and today, because I havent played more then a month continuesly during those years.
To add to the topic, here are some warmers/ropers with oldschool players:
VoltageIWC, Skel, aenimic, BacK2SkooLSFX, llwpllrox, NBRthewalrus, mmsprek, kronwwa, sickropes, VoltageIWC, dismember, joshlldSll, Snoopx2x, llWcDllChUpIkA.
All of them date 2004. I think none of them are active now, they are mostly oldschool players who have been in the oldschool clans (SFX, X2X, WcD etc..)
I didn't check the chat for private info, I think there is none.
Don't judge my roping, I never claimed to be a pro.

There is a difference between cherry picking one or two replays you watch of him from 10 years ago and actually watching him play on a consistent basis.

Except not. Key lock is quite a modern thing and most USB keyboards introduced had it and have it. Whilst old keyboards tend not to have it.
In fact, the frist keyboard I ever roped with was one of the best I ever had, and I didn't even know it.

It's a technology introduced to make them cheaper. It's the worst ever. Even my Cherry black kb has a keylock (left-up-space)

I've got ones from 2000-12-30 onward, and one from 2000-11-23 (although it isn't a good one; "2000-11-23 04.42.35 [Extracted] LouieTheFuzz, skipper, @Deadcode, Hazycles.WAgame" has me complaining that a game I joined that was hosted with the name "fair for all" had infinite bananas). From the earliest up to right before 3.6.19.7 (the first public version with replay recording) was released, I've got 3864 replays.
I can't just post the whole lot without looking through each one individually first. I don't know which ones might have private conversation. (And removing the chat from all of them before posting would ruin the experience of watching them; the chat adds a lot to it.) But I can respond to specific requests!

Yikes, I don't know why that would be happening. Every version from 3.6.26.4 onward can play them, and I just tested that to confirm it. And earlier versions report "Version Error", not "Format Error". What version of W:A are you using?
Edit: Maybe you could try disabling WormKit module loading, if you're using any.
Edit 2: Maybe the program you used to un-.7z them didn't work properly. Try 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) if that's not what you used already.
And yes, they are all battleraces, except for 2 Team17 replays and 2 BnG replays (the 2-round one).
Also I found I have 4 more battlerace replays (http://kingbird.myphotos.cc/9f38ca6afbeb7d1c846fa9258176f439/SwissPowerWorms2.7z) with you! I hadn't extracted these earlier because that's one of the network log files whose ZIP file was corrupted by the Deskstar 75GXP bad sector stripe. However the corruption in the file occurs after our games, so they are intact without any special recovery needed.

Hmmm... does it work both in the file Korydex posted and the file uncompressed from the .7z file I posted?
Maybe the program you're using to uncompress the .7z file screwed up? Try using 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) (instead of e.g. WinRar) if you aren't already.

Didn't Shimon prefer WWP and avoided W:A? I think I never seen him on W:A and played warmers with him on WWP, he didn't like the W:A roping very much. Wonder what happened to him he was quite a good roper.

He did smooth scrolls, just like I did back in the day or Jmoberg (who motivated me to learn them). That form of roping is very effective on lower island maps, depending on your timing skills and in the end your quick tap skills this can be applied on higher maps too. Fun way to rope with and not many get the timing perfect so it was always nice to see other do it too. On WWP it was easier to do though, I think WWP had smoother Frame-rate until W:A got a patch that fixed the stuttering?

I wonder why we didnt run into each other back then, spw. Was playing nonstop br in those days with gargy, blacksgy, raptor, nzkiwi, garycoleman, Mr t, bas1c, ect ect. Love that scheme.

x2x died when most of the members (mojo, blaze, almog, and jigsaw) quit to create a new clan called Dr. They left because x2x had started to get fat with less talented members. I think it was shortly after me, snoop and masta joined.

I'm pretty sure they all just stopped playing. Mojo, Jig and Almog were quite a bit older (mid 30s-ish) and they already only rarely played by the time Dr was formed. Blaze was just starting college at the time and was discovering his incredible gift of getting drunk from only 2-3 beers. With a sweet frugal liver like that, he probably never touched a computer again. Especially since his old mates had already left.
