Most maps turn out to be good for elite, no matter if they are open or tight, simple or maze-like. The problem is with people who use only one type of maps all the time and start to complain as soon as an opponent picks something they are not used to. I once even wanted to start using cavern elite maps on a regular basis, but the opposition was too big, so I kinda gave up the idea.

hehehehehe it's just preferences. I really dont care with maps. If my opponent askies to change my map, i do np.

In random maps, We havent so much good hides, the game gets kinda open, such as intermediate. Elite is a scheme where a good battle race skill and a good use of the weapons are absolutelly required.

Imo, open maps are good to a frontal battle in the start, but when u are in trouble, there ar no good hides to protect urself. "Draw maps" brings the game until the sd and if the player in advantage doesnt kill You, there is a chance to You revenge with a good ss or air strike.

The maps must evolve along the time, Bar. No problem to change them. It sounds as a new challenge in Elite.
