For now the numbers that truly won this poll are the odd ones.

I always watch with 5 a full round. Sometimes I use 3 when I want to pay more attention to the gameplay and 1 only if it is a truly epic game that I want to see every detail of the match.

Of course I use space bar and 9, or "Playback at" feature when I want to see an exact moment. And S and slow motion when I want to understand what happened on a specific moment to understand WA physics, like a glide or alien glitch.

And Shotgun Race article has now a screenshot.

Gaming Central / Re: W:A playstation port bonus schemes
« on: May 15, 2024, 02:13 AM »
I never played any version of Worms which was not made for PC. However, recently I made a list of intrinsic and exclusive schemes of these platforms. Hopefully some people can contribute to write about these schemes, otherwise, I'll do it myself using emulators when I have enough free time and patience. I still need to check if WWP versions for other hardwares have exclusive schemes too. It seems that the Dreamcast WA version doesn't have any exclusive scheme, I still want to confirm this, though.

The list I made can be found here: https://worms2d.info/Schemes#Other_hardwares_exclusives

I doubt there is any archive about this map on Blame The Pixel. I searched a lot of things in BTP's archive, predominantly all the preserved scheme pages (I know some of the schemes are lost, because I uploaded some schemes there that didn't receive any snapshot). Information about maps are very scarce, specially maps designed for underground schemes. So, I think we should write about the possibilities of this map, because I think the info about it is lost.

It's not my map. First time I saw this was when FoxHound added a link to it from WKB.
Oh, lol now I remember I found this map. So, it seems it needs to be in "similar ideas" section or something. It is probably a different scheme. With a different gameplay, but the idea is similar.

Which other schemes I made are worth writing about? Probably the only ones not mentioned on WKB are Bungee Fight (which was silly), and my attack-from-bungee scheme from 2001 which could just be a footnote in the section on Bungee Shopper (main difference is my scheme had no crates).
All your schemes are listed as a red link in Scheme ideas page. You forgot to mention Pixels that existed before Comet Dodging Race Wee and it was different from Speck Game.

Quote
You may have heard of the speck game, but this pixels game is different. Speck game is really just a fort with reasonable dots for landscape. I created this pixels game, basing it on the 'Space' level that came with Worms 1: Reinforcements. Every worm is placed randomly on a single pixel and they battle it from there!

They could be as a section on these pages you mentioned, but many of the sections of some scheme pages became one full page. Best example is Surf Shopper, but Snorkel became independant from Space Race, and I'm thinking to do the same with Banana Show, separate it from Banana Zone page, or FFW and Rope for Weapons that can be independant from Walk for Weapons article.

Note that Banana Show is literally almost the same scheme as Banana Zone, while Rope for Weapons is very different from WFW.

EDIT: And Bungee Fight is not silly. The idea is great, but the gameplay is hard and complex, it can be very frustrating, specially for beginners.  I never seen anything similar like Bungee Fight before, and this game is 25 years old now. I love the name of the scheme too.

EDIT 2: Regarding this "shotgun race" alternative map, I could make a "Map design" section like what I did in Paranoia article. Maybe the scheme file is the same, just the map is different and changes the gameplay significantly. Somehow like Tower Rope Race and Rope Race. They both use the same scheme file and same concept, but the gameplay is significantly different.

I'm double posting after my edit on previous post just to show why I thought this. My smartphone was with minimum brightness and I was eating during the coffe-break of my job.

I believe this is a different scheme with the same name, made by a different person. This seems like the classic training mission, but as a multiplayer scheme. Many people had this idea or played this with other people. It would be a boring map to be played as a real race to plop, I believe.

I played Shotgun Race in real time only IIRC, so I think I don't have a replay. But, if I have one, it is not a great example to be published. Shotgun Race has an article on WKB: http://worms2d.info/Shotgun_Race

I plan to write about some other scheme Bloopy made, not sure if I'll be able to do it before the CWA podcast.

EDIT: ops, I was seeing the map quickly and small on my smartphone, I didn't realize it was a Mole Shopper-like map. So maybe Bloopy is right. I don't know. I thought the map was like a Holy War map, only with girders (no terrain). It is not that boring I was thinking. Imagine a race to plop on holy war map... That was what I was thinking lol. stupid me. And that's why I said about the training mission.

And by the way I found the replay I have of Shotgun Race, but I'll not publish it here.

TUS Discussion / Re: Does TUS need off topic forum?
« on: May 09, 2024, 11:01 PM »
The topic was related to delete the duplified map. Discussing racism is very necessary in society. I think it is politically incorrect not discussing it. I respect TUS decision, though. Not really an ideal place to this. It causes many unecessary troubles.

Schemes / Re: FoxHound cups. Or ESL-like in cup format?
« on: May 07, 2024, 03:30 AM »
difference being that the maps can be random, the soil is destructible, and only 3 crates instead of 5. (and small weapons are spawning in weaponcrates) it's a nice scheme. our TS cup worked out rly nice too

You're not being accurate about Teleporting maps. They are not random they must be bigger than the standard 1920 x 696 pixels. They are open islands and usually they are custom PNG maps designed by players, however, I do believe it's possible to play Teleporting using the increased map size feature of MapGen and wkTerrainSync. Although, I know sbs is an enthusiast of the map making process, that's why he made a mappack of 100 maps without the increased terrain feature of those modules. One of the nicest things about Teleporting is playing on these huge beautiful island maps that are abundant in TUS and WMDB and few people really play on them, so Teleporting is making these maps more playable.

And you are wrong about only small weapons, Teleporting has Super Weapons, so you can use Sheep Strike, Carpet Bomb, magic Bullet, and many other OP weapons. The only thing sbs was considering to remove is the Donkey I think, but if I remember correctly he kept it, not sure, I need to check this. Anyway, it's a fun scheme to play surely. The only thing that concerns me are the rules that will be a bit complicated to explain and to organize the tournament+cup.

By the way, the fact there's destructible terrain makes the scheme much more interesting than the other variants, in my opinion. Although I really need to play the other variants like yours to say with more precision.

Silly question, but I'm curious about what key people use the most to watch replays fast.

Alright. The poll is made (it is above). You have 2 weeks to vote. Each person can vote in 3 schemes of the 10 I selected. You can change your vote and see the results any time. When the two weeks expire, it may receive a second turn of votes between the 3 most voted. Then I will organize a tournament for the scheme, and later a cup.

Thanks for this link. I'll not make those points system. Nah. But this inspired me for some things:

  • There will be a warm up tournament before each cup. The tournament may flop, but I will be there available to play the scheme of the cup with anyone that wants to try it or experiment it. The tournament will be to teach people how the scheme is and how it works, so the cup will be in a higher level when it happens. Also, to have fun, because I'll be playing schemes that I like most of the times. If the tournament does happen successfully I'll donate money to TUS. Yes, the donation has a condition, just to encourage people to play.
  • I might donate money to TUS for each succesfull cup too, but I'll prioritize tournaments, because they are more challenging to be successful.
  • If the tournament flops, I'll still publish all the games played on the tournament page, even if I play only with one person. If zero people play, well, then it flopped, and the cup will still happen, because people voted for the scheme. If the cup fails, I might try another scheme or give up the idea.

yay! Foxy cups, looking forward to it. we need some more unique schemes cups. only I + Kirill (and earlier Echiko) have been doing these

Surely you are my inspiration on this project. But I want to do this something more like ESL. With polls. However, the first polls will be centralized to the schemes I appreciate more. If the cups do success, I plan to make the polls more democratic as ESL used to be.

Schemes / FoxHound cups. Or ESL-like in cup format?
« on: May 04, 2024, 04:41 PM »
Hi, I was thinking to either continue the ESL concept, but for cups that are easier nowadays to people play and join new schemes. Maybe I'll host tournaments too. I'm a bit inexperient with hosting competitive events, but I think I can do it. I decided to do this because I'm afraid to host an alternative scheme and people don't join them. The flop sensation is bad.

I was thinking to centralize things a bit, at least for the first cups, because there are schemes that I really want to see played competitively and registered. So, I'll start a poll for just a few schemes that are among my favorites. This way, I'll be more motivated to play and to organize the cup. In the future cups, I might make them more democratic, allowing people to suggest their own schemes like in ESL format.

So I'll create the poll now. I'll add the link here.
