Got it, talk to you then!

Hey Zwitter, sorry I was too busy with other shit to agree to play our match when you first asked about it (weeks ago). I'm much more available these days, and I know you have other things going on as well and can't plan ahead very far in advance, so just let me know a couple of days beforehand what date/time would work for you and I'll try and fit my schedule around that.

I'm in the GMT+2 timezone now during summer, so it's 18:16 at the time of me posting this message. Usually I prefer to play during late afternoons and evenings, but I can handle late at night or a bit earlier in the day too, if that's better for you. I'll be checking my WormNet private messages daily, so message me there when you can! I'll hopefully remember to check this thread too, though.

This is much more likely to have to do with what your PC is doing in the background than any graphical settings in the game itself, but I'm attaching mine for reference, just in case. If you download a utility like Process Explorer, that can maybe help you clean up some of the bloat your OS is bothering WA with, and also allow you to set your WA.exe process to run on only a single CPU core (something called "process affinity" in Task Manager and Process Explorer). Maybe also try bumping its "process priority" to above normal or high, that feels like it helps me a little bit, sometimes. But you have to remember to do this every time you run the game, sadly.

The caveat regarding my WA settings being, since I use neither v-sync nor assisted v-sync these days, my framerate is completely unlocked and that means that on my 60 Hz monitor, I do see quite a bit of screen tearing when panning the camera around island maps, and a little bit when roping on 1920×696 pixel maps, so even with no camera movement. Some people may perceive this as stuttering, even though it's not really that, but either way, it's the price I'm willing to pay to get the lowest input lag my crappy hardware can muster.

Yeah, what is this bullshit that I'm reading here...

The TA build isn't some conspiracy designed to give The Jews/BLM/gingers/whoever an advantage over you at the game of Worms, that just makes you sound completely deranged. The reason it's always been kept private is that in its current state, it isn't ready for public release, same as a bunch of other features and ideas floating around, competing for the same single, unpaid programmer's time and attention. As it happens, it's specifically the sort of big feature that will require a lot of rethinking on the design front, changes in the way the rest of the game is put together, on top of the sheer implementation of it. So doing all that correctly is tricky and hence harder to justify pouring resources into it, over implementing or improving features that will be interesting to a (much) larger portion of the player base. Gotta look at it with some perspective.

If anything, I imagine trying to nudge DC into prioritising work on a public TA build by making shit up and questioning the motives of people who have been nothing but helpful in keeping the game alive for upwards of 15 years is going to achieve the opposite; it'll make TA builds less easy to ask for by those who would have a legitimate use for them now, one that contributes in some way to the goal of advancing the WA community. Speculating on how advantageous having a TA build is, or on the other no doubt nefarious shenanigans that some unnamed cabal of elitists gets up to while laughing at the plebs, with seemingly little interest in actually listening to and understanding the explanations offered... yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if that would be exactly the sort of motivation-destroying attitude that would delay progress and harm us all in the long run. Don't do that!

With 5 minutes to spare, found one extra optimisation and got it implemented as part of an imperfect but good run.

Now I pray.

Glorious, just watched David's exact tie. What are the odds!

That first half, up until around 70 seconds, is so good now. I wish I knew earlier about that forward bump jump near the top where he absolutely STICKS the landing, it looks like a huge time save!

but hey since both of your submitted time is 114.38s you share the 1st place and I can get silvah ::)

Mablak's entrance music sounds in the distance...

I'm actually gonna go to bed now, but definitely there's 2 extra seconds that can still be shaved off this 119.48s run, even using my exact method. Then using the forward jump from Lupastic's submission at around 96 seconds on top of that, a bunch more seconds to be saved, for those braver than I.

Fun challenge, but then they always are when DC throws his hat in the ring. :D

This is getting a little exciting now.

Thoink!

I'm sure this current method is doable in 124s at least, btw. Maybe even just taking the best parts of my two submitted replays would get it there, it's not that difficult to optimise further. Although that second to last jump right under the finish is kinda bullshit, I don't think it works 100% of the time. And that worries me.

These TAs were awesome to go through together, thanks David. :-*

Very, very tough matches with a bunch of options to consider on so many of the turns. Sen says he was thinking kinda slow at times, which did show in some of the important moments, but I'm happy I pulled through by the skin of my teeth both times. That mine knock on the 6:31 turn in the final round here was INSANE. And could have been even better with the shotgun plop on the worm afterwards, but then the hide would have been iffy, probably. And then the draw attempt on the very last turn is definitely one to TA at some point too; holy shit if that was possible...

Nice! A lot of scheme variety in there, it's been a while since I've seen that in a WA video, always good to see!
