Cups and Tournaments Comments / Re: Cup #298: Neocombat Cup #1
« on: March 29, 2012, 01:58 PM »
I was wishing that final match would be settled, but that doesn't seem possible. Anyways, thz for playing in this Cup, and hope everyone enjoyed it! Here are the medalists.

1st Place: Chelsea

2nd Place: K4Tsis

3rd Place: DumbBongChow

I understand Dennis for trying to make the Cup fair, but we have to understand that game is meant to have fun, not have hyper strict, fair competition. (I've just fully realized that now. -_-) Back lucks can happen, but the most important thing is to HF, not to mention too much fair rule regulation can disrupt that by being focus more on fairness than fun.

Ok. I have a major discussion regarding this cup. I've changed my mind. Just leave the cup as it is. Sorry for bothering you guys.

I understand this cup have been extended so much due to many problem with players not following the deadline. But Dennis have gave excellent idea of ending the cup fairly and properly without giving free Gold and Silver to finalist without a match up.

Since K4tsis did not try to play in the final match up, whoever wins in the Bronze match gets to play against one of the finalist, in this case clearly Chelsea. So I will be playing against Chelsea since I won against Dennis, and Dennis gets the Bronze medal for it. Lastly, K4tsis is good as out of the cup for not following the deadline far too many times.

So please, make the cup fair by allowing an another match up instead. I will be matching Chelsea probably at late Friday and Saturday in GMT time.

Ok. I've tested a new map you have put for the cup with oinky, and we realized there are number of problems with it. I first have thought the map seems very good for cup, but I've realized I was dead wrong.

Reasons
1) Having Two Kings kind of defeat the purpose of this scheme because the scheme have become more like CTF like.
(Losing unique asymmetrical game-play that makes this scheme very special.)
2) The game have become much more BNG oriented than unique strategy and tactics present in older KTK maps.

If this isn't convincing enough, the replay I've attached should give better idea with the problem of this map.

I guess the issue is which map would fit best for the cup. I got feeling the best solution may be altering already made map to make the game as balanced and dynamic as possible.

So far, I'm pretty sure these maps don't work too well.

For Every Contestants
- Bow damage is 100 in this scheme as that's that the creator of this scheme, MG, intended.
- The scheme have been updated which changed utility crate probability and mine fuse, so be sure to re-download those who have the outdated scheme version.

For Gadzet
Thank you very for listening to my suggestions Gadzet. I'm glad number of issues with this scheme have been fixed especially the mine fuse part. Be sure to inform MG about these changes, but I'm sure he'll understand the reasoning behind these changes.

+1 Gadzet for hosting a fun, underrated scheme and fixing some scheme problem especially the random mine fuse.

Ok Throsti. We had good times together, but we should stop playing against each other atm. I've been playing against only one opponent lately. If you still really want to play with me, lets just play non-tus games.

I've noticed there's a rare chance of getting jet pack in this version of KTK scheme which can seriously disrupts balance and strategy of this game. I think it's highly recommended to take out utility crate probability out by updating your uploaded scheme. (Only you can do it moderator.) Low gravity poses problem on gameplay balance as well. [Updated]

Since I'm no expert in this scheme, I should ask my community mate about map selection because I remember someone of being critical of either of those maps.

I highly recommended to not start the cup until we decide right maps for this. (For I care, I really want this cup to be successful.)

GGz Dennis. Very nice rope fly on the first game, and that vicious, overkill attack in second round really surprised me.

It's real nice to this see topic like this after all the unreasonable negativity I see from various topics. Many of HHC's comments were insightful and interesting, and there's no question MI is doing best as he can to make this site as good as possible. People need to understand many of the issue that admins have to deal with in which HHC points out explicitly in this topic. It's true that there are number of things that I don't like how MI handles this site, but it's impressive to see how much work contributions he put on this site without much help from others.
;D
The community is good as dead without you MI to be honest, and it's just that I wish there are more productive moderator and admin other than MI and DarkOne in this site. I should definitely say MI put strenuous amount of workload just to keep this site from not falling.

Anyways, MI surely least deserves much respect.
