General discussion / What weaps can/does the AI use?
« on: October 04, 2017, 04:56 PM »
Does anyone have a list by any chance.

I know it uses zooks, nades and normal airstrike among others.. but there's also a particular order (like clusters only when no normal nades are there, etc.)

edit: the selection is the same for each level of AI right? Is the AI level only important for the accuracy of weapons btw? Or has it influence on tactical choices as well?

Gaming Central / PC console
« on: August 03, 2017, 10:01 PM »
Yoo,

Any of you have something comparable to a 'PC console'?

Been checking those steam machines. They say products like the Alienware Alpha R2 is pretty neat and comparable to a PS4 and other current gen consoles. Except that it's twice as expensive  :-[
That can be compensated with cheap games through steam though.

But it's true without a doubt though that these slim PC consoles are more expensive when compared to similar regular PC builds. Like a laptop to a desktop PC.

Pro's probably are that it is smaller and specifically designed to be played on TV and with a controller.

Some people also complain about the Steam controller that is apparently fairly shite compared to real console ones in terms of layout/design.

And choosing between Steam OS and Windows I reckon it's prolly better to go with windows cause it allows any game in the steam library instead of just the Steam OS ones.

So yah, I'm looking for some feedback from people who have one of these steam machines/PC consoles. Or just the Steam controller.. (cause I could give that one a try first and just HDMI my normal PC to the TV)

Main reason for (maybe) getting this: I wanna try the more demanding games on Steam for which my current cheap PC is too shite + playing my PC games with a decent controller that doesnt have to re-callibrate every f@#!ING TIME I START RL *ahem* + it seems interesting to have a PC that acts like a console.. one that is only used for playing games.

Gaming Central / Innovation in games
« on: July 27, 2017, 12:44 AM »
Was having a discussion with Anubis on steam.

My point of view: there is little innovation in games atm, 99% of games are just clones of other games that do not offer anything new. Only once in a while a genuinely new idea is introduced and companies jump on the bandwagon to copy that idea (GTA, sandbox games, RocketLeague, etc.), without really adding new elements to it.

So yeh, I wanna know how you people feel about it.

Are you satisfied with what the gaming industry publishes or is it mostly 'meh' to you?

Where is room for improvement?
Can you think of a cool innovation that would be the next big thing in gaming?
What kind of game is missing.. what would you like to play that isn't available on the market?

And on a sidenote, how would you revolutionize Worms? Or are you just looking for the perfection of the existing set-up (WA 4.0)?

At the time of uploading the game I was wrong I think: / My second tournament only, at first I did not even know I had to report the game. I did not pay attention at the top of the upload area where the numbers are 1: 0 On the home page of the site TUS, it is appearing that I won the match when I actually lost. I wanted the reponsavel someone so it removes the points that were given. It was a mistake Once again I apologize to everyone"

My report is there also, I was advanced, it's just to get the stats right  ;)

Tech Support / Creators update messed something up
« on: June 08, 2017, 11:06 PM »
Ever since the update of windows Im having trouble with my games.
Worms takes longer to minimize and I keep getting this annoying flickering window in the top left of the screen every 10 seconds or so.
One other game I play also has a samilar issue, it usually starts the game with a solid yellow screen, instead of with the menu, when I click with my mouse it proceeds to the menu as usual. An other game tends to crash every now and then, just going back to desktop and the game is completely gone  :-[

I reckon a program on the background is intervening, claiming priority where it shouldnt :/
Would that be the problem, and how can i see which one it is?

Gaming Central / Any1 has VR?
« on: January 05, 2017, 12:04 PM »
I see a lot of games on steam are being released that are VR.

Does anyone have experience with them? Own a VR-headset, or whatever it is that you need?
Considering to buy one?

Asking cause many of these games have interesting concepts that you don't see in 2D.
Wanna know if it's something worth checking into/getting.

6 euro's on steam atm, this awesome little game.
Also available on phones.

Just installed it and I think it's awesome.

You start with a blank map, with a river or lake (depending on the map you play on) and 3 symbols: a square, a circle and a triangle: these are your stations. Now as the game progresses little dark symbols appear at these stations, they are square, circle or triangle as well. Point of the game: you draw railways (simple lines) between the stations (the large symbols) to carry the passengers (the small symbols) to the station where they desire to be (the station that shares their symbol). So triangle passenger to a triangle station.

As you can see each train (the blocks on the coloured lines) can carry up to 6 passengers. Every passenger you deliver scores you a point. As weeks progress the number of passengers appearing at your stations greatly increases, up to the point where you just can't deliver them all anymore and stations become overcrowded. When a station is clogged for too long it's game over.

Every week you are granted one new locomotive (a basic train) + either a tunnel to cross rivers, a carriage to attach to an existing train (so you can carry 12 at once) or the ability to create a new route (a new line colour). There's also the extra challenge of new symbols entering the game.

It's basically a giant mathematical puzzle: you have to draw your lines in such a manner that passengers can get quickly to the station that they need to be. A recipe for disaster is for example when your route has 3 circle-stations in a row. All the circled passengers will get off at the first station then; the squared and triangle ones stay seeded and are multiplied by all the new passengers that board your train on these stations. It's a recipe for going over the train's capacity and therefore: angry passengers that have to wait at the station.

It's a game you can do in about 5-10 mins. After that the ants win :D

Example game:

Simple, but a lot of fun, and intellectually very challenging 8)

Let's get a few quick reviews in tonight.

Meet-ups: I'll meet up with Peja, and maybe Senator and Bonhert and some others will be there too. Easiest way to get in touch is through steam friendslist: my profile is here: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197998893628/

Gaming Central / Nes re-release
« on: July 15, 2016, 02:42 PM »
http://www.theverge.com/2016/7/14/12187296/nintendo-nes-classic-edition-announced-price-games

Too bad it can't play original cartridges, but oh well, it's a nice idea. For 60$ it seems worth buying, even in this limited version :)

Hopefully it leads to other initiatives.
These old ones should be re-released with 'all' games on it, shouldn't be hard/expensive to make.
