General discussion / AI
« on: July 17, 2020, 06:25 PM »
Is there by any chance a website that lists which weapons the AI can/will use in WA?

I'm also wondering which schemes the AI can play, and which schemes it is good at. Is it just BnG?  :D
Has anyone tried the AI vs AI already (or in the past)? Which scheme would be interesting to watch? I reckon most are rather boring cause of the simplistic playing style of the AI.

Hmm, now that I think about it.. is there actually a scheme in which an AI-player online can be a good addition?

Maybe 2vs2 BnG, with a CPU4 or CPU5 teammate?

I am glad some of us can agree that Government, big corporations are taking advantage of the situation economically.

The government and big corporations profit economically from the entire economy going to shit??

how??

I work for the local government.. we're spending a shitload of money on sustaining local entrepeneurs, so that they may continue their business once this is all over. There's also a lot of time, effort and money involved in implementing Corona-measures, so that the people can stay safe.
Where do you think we get our money from? It's coming from the central government, which is putting itself once again in serious debt to make this all possible, while at the same time putting money in funds to help the countries that are even worse off.

And what does the government gain in return?
That X-files-government you speak of?

That we can control who can travel by public transport? That we can control which festivities cannot take place?
Why the F* would we care about that lol.

This government and these big corporations you speak of are run by people. Fortunately for everyone, they are run by people who had a good education and know just how serious this is.

Remember 9/11?
3000 people died that day, both in New York in Washington.
Corona has killed 23.000 people, only in New York City (!). That's nearly 8 times as much.
Makes it appropriate to speak of a national tragedy doesn't it?

You have a very distorted view of government (and big companies alike). I hope that one day you join 'our' forces and see for yourself how much work we put into keeping everything running smoothly.

Other worms games / Re: Team17 has announced Worms 2020
« on: May 08, 2020, 07:48 PM »
Worms WMD really isn't THAT BAD. The problem with it is that it needed more development time as well as a closed beta with experienced Wormers.

I still play WMD frequently and have a lot of fun with it. I know that a lot of people here think that any Worms title post-WWP is complete trash but I disagree. I think there are good ideas in all of them. Team17's failure is recognizing what is good and not carrying it over to subsequent titles. They need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel and instead just make each game incrementally better, despite the inevitable bitching about how each new game isn't that much different from the last.

If they spent like 6-8 more months developing WMD with good feedback and effort it could smash W:A, honestly.

As far as the new game goes, I can only assume that it is going to be a 3D title, or 2.5D at best based upon the renders in that video. The noobs and casuals are dying for another 3D Worms title. I know this because I talk to a lot of them, and I guess Team17 is compelled to answer. This will be the first game that I don't pre-order. Against all reason I have had blind loyalty to the Worms franchise for a very long time and I just can't support them anymore if they are going to continue to make stupid decisions regarding my beloved franchise. They really need to start listening to longtime fans instead of catering to noobs and trends.

Good rant skunk.

I'm not too sure about the last bit though. It seems that when you ask oldtimers what the new game should be like, the answer you'll get is always the same: make it just like WA.

But as you mention before, there are interesting concepts in all titles after WWP. In every game there's at least 2 or 3 components that DO work and feel fresh.

The main issue for me always was the shitty multiplayer mode. The game is perfectly suited for a quick pick-up-and-play online battle mode, but it never lived up to that. Rounds seem to last ever longer, the gameplay seems slow, even moving a worm across the map has become a hassle..
The online servers are crap, the online rankings are stupid (1 pt for every win, 0 for a loss...) and there's always the connectivity issues.

The biggest joke was Clan Wars by far. Intended to be played online the servers were a complete mess from the start. I think on day 3 the online multiplayer was already dead.

It's a shame, because anyone can see the huge potential for this game, especially on mobile devices.
It just needs a company that knows how to cather games to a large audience.. and well, perhaps a development crew that is larger than 3.  ;D

how can I get rid of Keylock?this makes it very difficult to use the rope, for example, I can't press the space bar when I hold the arrows, or my arrows get inverted somehow, although on an old laptop with windows7 there was no such problem, I could hold several buttons at the same time and everything was fine

Let's hope we have access to a vaccine soon.. otherwise quarantine may last a really long time  :-[

Gonna have some political consequences though. We Dutch were way too late shutting everything down and applied a strategy of 'gradual infection' in order to keep healthcare functioning while we strive for 'collective immunity'.

Pretty f@#!ed up strategy if you ask me. Before we get to the point of collective immunity I'm pretty darn sure we'll have access to a vaccine already. Then all those people dying now to build immunity are a waste.
Economy-wise we maybe kept things running for about 2 weeks longer than with full lockdown immediately.. so that's not much of a pro either.

Meanwhile we do not have enough testing material cause f@#!ed up companies and lack of preparation. So most people don't get tested, even when they have pretty much all the symptoms. Then there's the medical personnel taking care of the elderly that lack protection, hence a lot of people die in old people's homes. Bleh bleh.

And the only thing on the news you hear is how bad Trump and China are handling this. f@#! that lol.

If we had acted like Taiwan we would have the vaccine in the same time, but with thousands of deaths less.

Anywho,

And then (again) the EU proves to be a totally useless institute.
And again we have to pay for Southern Europe, even tho our own economy is in shambles as well  >:(

AAARGGH..

Everything cool here tho. Working at home for over a month now and I like it better and better. Family is safe.  :-*
