The wkTerrainSync module, when used with a terrain (not a PNG), supports loading a custom water.dir file.  This file not only contains the water animation, but the animations for all objects that sink in the water.  They all share a dedicated 32 colour palette.  Interestingly there are sprites in the water.dir file that exist but the game doesn't use them.  This is why the concrete donkey, homing missile and the mole bomb don't change colour when they enter the water. This should probably be corrected in a future update.  It would also be nice to hear a splash sound when the homing missile  enters the water, but I'm just nit picking!

The module also supports replacing any sprite within the Gfx0.dir / Gfx1.dir files.  These files contain all other sprites in the game, including the worms themselves and their animations.

This is just a 'proof of concept' to see if I could convert the Worms DC fire to something Worms Armageddon can use.

If you want to try it in a custom terrain or stock terrain, copy the Water.dir file into the terrain directory (where the Level.dir file is).

It needs the wkTerrainSync module to be installed.  Get the latest version here : https://worms2d.info/WkTerrainSync

I've made a new Cookies variation of this terrain which is easier on the eye for those who don't like the parallel lines (thanks to jsgnextortex for the idea).  This version uses a non-smooth grass.  All terrain objects and bridge are the same for both terrains.

I've created a version 2 of this terrain with various improvements (new background, bridge, more object placements etc) which can be found here : https://www.tus-wa.com/files/file-2899

Yes, you can make any sprite invisible including crates.  I tried removing the aiming cross hairs which was interesting. You can also replace sprites with different dimensions but I've mainly experimented with clouds which can be as large as 1000x400 px - examples here :

I've not tried changing mine dimensions.  Sprites like that might be fixed with having a hitbox to activate it.

I love this utility.  I'm not sure if there's an appetite to add new features to it but if so would it be possible to load an existing replay and continue from a particular point, as a read-only thing (no need to write out a new replay file)?

I've replaced the water colour, easier on the eye with being less bright and suits the terrain a lot better

I've added a v3 of this terrain with a new dual-layer background and debris.  I overhauled quite a few objects making them smaller for better playability (some were way too big) and generated a better colour palette for the terrain.  The old v2.3 is still available.

After playing this some more I've added a final update with some slight adjustments (sky, pixel edits and I made a couple of objects easier to jump up).  All 32 objects:

EDIT: Sorry, final update (1.3) was added on 20-1-23 - I matched the sky with the Camping terrain which I thought looked better being a bit brighter.

The icon with 17 colors seems to have helped the people with crashes, i'm asking more people to test it. Btw I didn't know you need to click Recreate SPR IMGs checkbox in the sprite editor. It doesn't say so in the Terrain Creation Guide.

You don't need to especially if the .IMG/.SPR doesn't exist (it will always be created).  I just tick it out of habit to make sure Sprite Editor creates the files regardless of file date stamps.  If .IMG/.SPR files already exist, Sprite Editor only re-creates/overwrites them if the corresponding .BMP has been modified since. It's usually correct but I've seen a couple of instances where it hasn't re-created the files despite a .BMP update.  I'll update the guide as it's a good precaution.

Good news on the icon. I updated the guide making a point about the 17 colour palette, even if the icon uses less colours.

I can't explain why it crashes for some people and not others.  The only thing I can say is that the BreakingBad terrain icon only had a 16 colour palette and it's likely that the game expects a 17 colour palette even if the image uses less colours.  Did you try the new 17-colour icon I attached to see if this fixes the crash?

I was surprised to see that the game positions the exact same image differently if it has 16 colours compared to 17 colours (check the amount of empty space to the right of the word "Breaking" in the icons I screenshot).  This further supports the idea that the game expects a 17 colour palette.

It is really fiddly sorting palettes and working with Sprite Editor. Hopefully in a future update 'Level.dir' files can be replaced with 'Level.zip' files and .img/.spr can be replaced with .png.

Here is the video for creating the icon in Photoshop: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/985634698812338176/1007387532524269688/Video_2022-08-11_213439-1.mp4
