Schemes / Re: 30 second rr.
October 28, 2010, 08:21 AM
Well since RR is a race without random events such as cr8s there will always (or should) win the better player. If the better player doesn't win that basically means that he isn't the better racer on that particular map. I have some maps which I really have a hard time on, and then the next one I can race so nicely. Different style of Racers so different results. :)

I personally think that 30s on bigger maps would be a good idea! But I wanna mention something else too:

I always thought that TTRR on these 40-50s maps are quite too fast over, not because of their length but in my opinion it should take more than 3 turns to determine who is the better RRer. Imagine if Elite was over after 3 turns, or BnG. Sure it CAN happen but it's not really the case. I think that a scheme should encourage you to play it for about 15-30 Minutes. Depending on how many mistakes someone makes. Basically right now every TTRR 1v1 is over after 5 Minutes. I would add at least 5-6 Worms per team in TTRR to have to rely on better 'real' results since the more often you try a map the better you get to know the map and can show your skill. It's like getting used to a BnG map. Also it allows more tactics, if, for example you have 5 or 6 worms you can try to put pressure on your opponent and try faster turns in the beginning or the other way around. Currently it's just maybe 1 safe turn and then try to do fast ones. In most races in real life the race is not over after 3 turns, because it simply doesn't show who is the better racer, they take a lot of rounds in F1 to see who is faster and determine the positions.

As for the 30s, the more turns you need to finish the map the less it gets likely to have a draw.

Basically the people at Giga thought:

Ok we can't just play the well balanced Elite scheme, we need to introduce something new even though it's a 1:1 copy of the same scheme because we can't admit that there already schemes that are good enough to be effective as a competitive scheme such as elite so we need to add moles and do minor things and then we can call it Giga scheme.

I always had to do an inner facepalm when I thought of Giga scheme because it was so ridiculous copied from elite.

Ah yeah, hi Sören. =)

I think Kermit never really liked Miss Piggy, at least that's what I remember. Kermit always tried to escape Miss Piggy because she was so annoying.

Umm, didn't he say that the only reason schemes should be in the Classic league because they are fun and competitive. He never said that it has to be popular, and in this case BnG is fun and competitive but not as popular as the other classic schemes. Can't see what's wrong with that statement.  :-X

Sometimes I think I am the only one that understands Komo. xD

If it comes down to skill only schemes, Super Sheep Race would be a very good candidate. There is no luck involved in that scheme. It's just not popular. I like the idea of just 1 scheme of one of a kind as well. 1 pure roping scheme, 1 artillery etc. +1

Edit: It would even be possible to do time trial super sheep race, would be fun too.

i wanna see replay and basic roper/warmer map from ur "old good days". This just sounds kinda ridiculous for me:p

It was before Replays :(

I might have some warmers I played when I had started already started BnG and lost my touch a bit, but even now, if you wanna warm with me for an hour, i'm still pretty fast and good, but nowhere near what I was for obviously reasons *COUGH*COUGH*COUGHbngCOUGH*COUGH* lol

I'm sure anyone who is still here now who was around back then will tell you, even Anubis can vouch for me lol, I inspired that afro-bearded fool ! haha

**EDIT**

I'm just watching an old replay from 2006 (I think, I changed filename so don't know which year) I actually done a few half decent turns, which I got over-excited and claimed they were "sh*t hot" turns lol, even though I know I used to be so much better, I'd upload the replay, but I was such a tw*t back then and was talking complete garbage, I might make a short movie with it though to show you some of my turns, I have some really nice stuff from Mablak saved from like 2005 haha.

Komodo really used to pwn at warmers, I remember many warmers on Gundam with him.

TheOne, Saltyk9, wargod or generally most NBR guys were at a very high level when it comes to warming. I have also warmed with volrin one time 1v1, but it didn't leave a big impression to me, I think Theone or Saltyk9 were more fun to watch when they warm. Note: I am not saying he is not good, just not as fun to watch as others!

It's also not really about who is 'better' at warming, it's about who is fun to warm with. You can't beat someone at warming and going to the limit can mean very ownage turns but that doesn't classify anyone at being the best warmer. franz is still a great warmer and when we have a warmer there always happen great things and more importantly fun things. I just remember the ghost grab that almost turned in a mexi, really had to laugh. XD

For someone that really played a shithole of warmers they are no real challenges left, even W:A has limits with tricks and most serious warmers have already exceeded their limit and all they now practice is more consistence, in other words not to fall that often.

You can't pump better you can't kick faster and you can't power spike more than what most people can do already, so all is left is trying to get more consistence in your roping when you warm.

Btw: Komodo used to do double handed taps after kicks and then a double handed shadow. Sometimes it looked like the old silkworm, but it wasn't cause double handed taps are really f@#!ing fast, I used to practice them too but never controlled them as well as komo did. That was something special about komodo. :D

ahaha :p.
Well, I've been clanning with a lot of "very good roper" while I was in TdC and susuii.
Volrin,volcom... They are all really good. You can add Lyte imo also. At one time he was really great.
But if you ask me. I'd say shimon. Not a lot of person know him because he wasn't playing that much single and not posting in forum. But still he was able to beat me doing w6w in roper while I was just w2w and at this time I wasn't roping as bad as today. He was pretty fast, pretty constant... Well really something. I played a lot of clanner with him and volrin and I'd say in 2vs2 shimon was better roper.

Shimon really owned, him and Jmoberg were the fastest scroller I knew at that time.

Haha well I was around 15 years old which means I was highly immature. I doubt I would do these things again, and if you are really interested in my past 3 years of worming I can only remember: sCa, dt, bOr, ruL some selfmade clan with benz that eventually died when we did a fusion with Verts clan, I think we were called BoD and later CoB? and then finally CF. Seems ok with me. :D

I could see 8 in that list Fada; Almog, Oldsock, Spider, Franz, Skunk3, you ofcourse, myself and Rash (Teubber, if we can count him in as active lol) ::) If you look at the WA standings tho, you only have 5 players that plays today; Melao, Chicken23, Spider and TheKomodo. I also found a display of our old site Fada: http://web.archive.org/web/20021025011200/members.lycos.co.uk/tdcclan/index.htm

I see now that I was wrong about Anubis never being in TdC:
"deano     16/10/02

Welcome to SoNiC, new member to TdC. Say goodbye to Anubis. I haven't had time to play Worms, as my CD-ROM driver is kurupt, but things are progressing. Take care, peace out."

You really have been in about 50% of the clans of WA, havent you Kai? :P

:-* Well some I have joined as an alias, so there are many clans that didn't even know I was in. :D

But certainly I know that I NEVER been in OsW. Well they weren't my kind of clan at that point anyway, Default things and such, BnG, elite Pro etc. I was just roping at that time.

2 famous german players for example are Devastation and LunaticAngel, great players too.
