Leagues Games Comments / ups
December 02, 2011, 05:31 PM
I guess i messed the repping up didn't I? sorry  :-[ Can you fix it?

This is so frustrating btw. I didn't make a single mistake in the entire series. Apart from 1 game, where I was screwed by positions at the start, I went into SD with more worms and/or more HP. Yet I still managed to get kicked out of p/o's. It's hard to accept. I have no regrets whatsoever, I'd do it all the exact same way again, including the SD's. It was just that tiny bit of luck MI had in getting that sole weapon needed to mess up my plans that made the coin fall his way.
Don't get me wrong, Mr.Monkey played better than I've ever seen him play in T17. But yeah, after 2 months of preparation for these games it sucks big time to say goodbye in the very first round after seemingly, 100% perfect games.  :(

If you wanna learn T17, watch the games. They are more than final-worthy.

Off Topic / euro 2012 draws!
December 02, 2011, 12:58 PM
jaja, tonight at 6 CET (after a bunch of blahblahbblbaahahalblbaah i guess).

Too bad we can't draw Poland muhahaha  :P

Best ones in each pot imo: Spain; Germany; Portugal; France (?) (I should say France or fada will boot me, but dunno, they kinda stink ;D).

My preferred draw (as in NL with suckers!): Netherlands, Russia/England, Greece, Czech/Ireland.

Schemes / Comparison of T17 schemes (for MI)
November 30, 2011, 02:19 PM
Like I said in the shoutbox MI, you were right  :-[

I opened our schemes in BTP's scheme editor, as to get a good visual of the crate distribution in the official TUS scheme. '30' in the above graphic corresponds to 3 crates(-probability) in WA. I added up all the 'crates' of each scheme and then calculated the percentages. They are not precise as I left both the air attacks and the superweaps out of the equation (I'm not entirely sure, but it may be so that in the official TUS scheme there are more superweaps as the total number of crates awarded to the regular weapons is smaller (805 compared to 950); in that case the %'s of TUS should be decreased by some 0.1%..). I still can't rule out any errors though, it's really hard to get an exact insight as to how the crates are distributed, but I think the table gives a pretty good indication.

To make things easier I added colours:
Dark-yellow: difference with other scheme is ca. 1% (0.5-1.5%)
Green: ca. 2%
Darkred: ca. 3%
Bright-red: ca. 4%

As you can see, the official TUS scheme is more heavy on the standard 'big' weaps like holies, cows, nana's & flamethrowers (as well, but to a smaller degree on semi-big weaps like dyna's, sheeps and ladies). HHC's scheme has quite a chunck more SD-weaps (you were right about that MI).. nearly twice as much to be precise. And there's also a small increase in smaller weapons (the guns & nades-line).

Yap.
It would be a good things to maybe point out to your opponent which scheme you are playing.
Or maybe we can work towards an official variant that takes the best out of both schemes ? (although I guess it's a matter of opinion).

TUS Discussion / Debate: Tus pw
November 20, 2011, 01:16 PM
Back in the old days...

we still used passwords when hosting a game for our friends.  :)

Since a few years (well, since a decade) it's gone out of fashion and people just host public games and boot everyone that isn't welcome (poor newbs).

As much as it's convenient, it's also pretty harmful for the community (I wouldn't be happy getting booted all the damn time as a new player) and for the host it can be equally frustrating kicking all these dämn Russians  :-[.

After me and Crazy had another encounter friday (the newb said: well then, put a pass!!; and me and Bard were like: hmm, that's kinda true), we discussed an idea I had some time ago.

The idea is this: from now on we host our TUS games with a password. Not a long pw, just 'tus' (not caps). Everyone in TUS will know this PW, all the noobs that will only get themselves booted won't.

It's 3 letters to type for host and joining players and, on average, 3 mouse clicks less to click cause of booting players. It levels out nicely.
No more angry newblets and since everyone knows the pass, people can still join TUS games if they wanna spectate the match.

I wasn't sure about posting it the first time around cause I know you're all lazy douches and anything beyond entering your team is an effort (edit, or 5 teams in case of Husk), but yeah, in principle the energy spent entering a 3-letter pass equals that of cleaning the room of nübies.

Thoughts? Yay or nay?

Gaming Central / Trackmania 2
July 16, 2011, 12:09 AM
I haven't played Trackmania in a while, but the other day I felt like checking out whether there was any progress in the development of Trackmania 2. Apparently the new game is set to be released for september 2011 (although with Nadeo you need to be careful).

It will cost a mere 20 euro and feature just 1 environment: Canyon. Apparently the plan is to release the other environments as seperate games. That may sound like a rip-off, but when you look at Canyon itself you'll understand you really don't need much more to keep you occupied for a long while.

For newbies: trackmania is a racing game where you try to set the fastest time on a track that is compiled of a number of building blocks. In the track editor users can make their own tracks within minutes and share them with other people through the internet. Trackmania is very popular online and is actively engaged in the most popular European based gaming leagues.

An excellent preview to the Canyon title can be found here:
http://www.gameon.co.uk/game/preview/trackmania-2-canyon-in-depth-hands-on-preview
(you may want to skip the intro-part).

The game trailers look awesome, that I do know!

(I hope the cars do indeed sound like that haha, VROOOAAAMMM)

The landscape looks really sweet. I like the look of the cars, the fact you can damage the skin (without losing out on performance) and the smooth way in which the building blocks are integrated into eachother and into the terrain.

Nadeo certainly is no Team17. They know what makes a game great and they are not shy to finetune it even further after release (by adding new building blocks and the like). Should become a new classic PC-title.  :-*

Can't wait till september arrives  :'(

p.s. Trackmania Nations is still downloadable for free (just look it up on google). Had a great time with that game (and so did a lot of other wormers). This is a video of one of my old clan mates (clan GameSNirvana.. it's our official team car haha):

I'm still a honorary member of the clan, but no longer active  :-[
They were in the second division of the major clan league (that means, something like 12th or 13th best clan on the servers), but yeah, I never attained that level. During my peak we were in division 7 out of 9 or something and afterwards I played for the second team. Good days  :)

Gaming Central / Achievements
July 06, 2011, 06:22 PM
Do you care about them? I know I don't.

The problem is that many games have waaaay too much of them. I start the game, play the level and after killing 3 enemies I already get the first one: a 'Rookie Sniper Award' or something like that. Reached the next level, oh hey, here's another trophy for ya! And it goes on like that  :-[

And when I finish the game I really can't be arsed to collect all of them. Neither can I be bothered to pick up every single treasure that is hidden inside the game.  :-X

I dunno, maybe I'm just lazy.

Does any of you focus on the achievement trophies?

Not all k/o matches bo3?

Whew, some close games. Glad I made it through!

Definitely final-worthy matches.

Gaming Central / Your Top-5 games for the PC
June 25, 2011, 11:39 AM
What the title says. Games for PC, not for the consoles & no browser games.  :)

Ignore WA/WWP, naturally that's the best xD

Mine:
1.Panzer General 2

Must be about 15 years old now, but I guess the most fun game I ever played. It started turning crap when they tried to go 3d, but this oldschool 2d is still awesome. Contrary to other 'tabletop'-wargames it's easy to learn, challenging and just fun to play. First bombard them with the artillery then send in the Tiger-tank to blow up the remains 1-by-1. Objective is to capture all the yellow-border flags on the map (city centres, strategic locations, etc.).

2.Battlefield1942
Classic game of course. Was great when I first played it and it's awesome still. Vietnam is also nice, but after that it got a little complicated/overdone. The essence is captured in 1942 and more you really don't need. I always had fun capturing the hillpoint at Charkov, get into one of them mobile artillery pieces and just shoot away at the enemies trying to run across the bridge that leads to the center of the city. It was carnage.

3.Age of Empires II: Age of Kings
Everyone knows this game. No need to explain  :)

4.Trackmania United
Played this online for 2 or 3 years. The only racing game that really took the time trial mode to the next level. Lots of fun to play, but a bit of a strain on the hands. The ability to make your own levels is also what makes TM TM.

5.Worms:Reloaded
Despite all the shittyness... still an awesome fun game to play.

That's it, tell me yours  :)

Yep, a light version of Fort:
- 1 single rule: don't invade with tele, all other invading is fine.
- Play on simple, but nice looking fortresses.
- Homing and a single Para as game winners, but do watch the crates, there might be some mighty powerful stuff in them.

Fun, fast (10 min SD), but also challenging. Suited for all kinds of gamers  :)

Maps + Scheme uploaded here: (too big for TUS)

Record game in attachment: (had a pretty funny ending :D)

Gaming Central / Welcome to Gaming Central !
June 20, 2011, 11:11 PM
jaja, we got a whole forum to discuss games now. PS3, Wii, XBox, PC, browser games, anything goes in here  :)

I think I'll let Komito post some sticky threads, he seems to have a pretty good set-up prepared. Anyway, there will be a sticky thread for each brand/platform where you can post reviews/opinions of games (either just released or old games, it's all good). If you want to discuss a game more in-depth (such as Starcraft 2, world of warcraft, worms: reloaded...), you should probably open a topic instead of just replying.

Komito and me are the mods. We will keep an eye out to see if there's no flaming (everyone likes different games, respect that) and to make sure the board is organized somewhat properly.  ;)

I think we are also looking for a 3rd mod. Someone who's into Wii or XBox, or is an old school gamer who's been playing since the days of joystick-pong. You get the idea, the nerdier, the better.

More to come tomorrow  ;)
