General discussion / Re: Anyone remember me? :( lol

I think I was Pure when I was in your clan Wally.. honestly been too long. Read your "politics display" on the forums. :)
Socialism/higher taxes and the like are discussed often, but the amount of detailed dialogue intrigued me. I read almost all of it.
This is a very hot topic in the US. I'm a business owner and investor in Washington state, paying extremely
high taxes while making nothing(if not taking losses) And yes, It's confusing.
I personally am surprised to see the differ of opin, between Mablak and Wally and others. Given,
it was about 10 years ago that I had conversations with the two, but I would regard these
individuals to have intellectual authority.  I remember Mablak explaining
the Smashing pumpkins to me following which I purchased 4 albums. And many conversations. Smart kid. and heated debates with Wally when we started a clan with Anubis... so

Nonetheless people really need to get a better scope on why capitalism works. The problem is that people see money as a pie graph. they think that if one person gets wealthy he takes from the pie. but wealth is something that grows. the pie is always changing in size. I can remember believing, as a child, that if a few rich people had all the money, it left less for everyone else. Many people seem to continue to believe something like this well into adulthood. This fallacy is usually there in the background when you hear someone talking about how x percent of the population have y percent of the wealth. If you plan to start a startup, then whether you realize it or not, you're planning to disprove the Pie Fallacy.

What leads people astray here is the abstraction of money. Money is not wealth. It's just something we use to move wealth around. So although there may be, in certain specific moments (like your family, this month) a fixed amount of money available to trade with other people for things you want, there is not a fixed amount of wealth in the world. You can make more wealth. Wealth has been getting created and destroyed (but on balance, created) for all of human history.

Suppose you own a beat-up old car. Instead of sitting on your butt next summer, you could spend the time restoring your car to pristine condition. In doing so you create wealth. The world is-- and you specifically are-- one pristine old car the richer. And not just in some metaphorical way. If you sell your car, you'll get more for it.
In restoring your old car you have made yourself richer. You haven't made anyone else poorer. So there is obviously not a fixed pie. And in fact, when you look at it this way, you wonder why anyone would think there was.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The people most likely to grasp that wealth can be created are the ones who are good at making things, the craftsmen. Their hand-made objects become store-bought ones. But with the rise of industrialization there are fewer and fewer craftsmen. One of the biggest remaining groups is computer programmers.
A programmer can sit down in front of a computer and create wealth. A good piece of software is, in itself, a valuable thing. There is no manufacturing to confuse the issue. Those characters you type are a complete, finished product. If someone sat down and wrote a web browser that didn't suck (a fine idea, by the way), the world would be that much richer.

Ryan (myself) fits the category (craftsmen) I build and remodel homes. then I pay taxes for more than the value of the home I created.. so understanding how people that won't just make wealth for themselves seem to think rich people owe them something?.. No f@#!ing way. I don't give the US even a glimmer of hope in the same way I wouldn't give Greece one either.
Debt doesn't work. It's really that simple.
Wally if you're around we should chat. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy worms again :x
(sorry about the rant) for those who are easily offended

Joe, yes its been at least 8 years. I know cuz I broke my WA cd 8 yrs ago
Does our favorite little over-zealous computer gamer Alex still exist?

FoS / Re: Wally's school of politics
January 24, 2013, 09:53 PM
I haven't updated here in awhile, and the world is still spinning!  More issues have cropped up in the political sphere.  Lets take a jaunt through a news story that has been in the forefront of American lives lately:

I'm going to launch right in, if you want to read about the attack, here it is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Benghazi_attack

Secretary of State Clinton's total failure to protect american lives in Benghazi.  Transmissions ignored, and instead of reinforcing the position in Benghazi, Americans were abandoned.  This follows the negligent foreign policy of an inept presidency.  Clinton should have been removed from her post immediately following the attack, failing to take action cost the lives of four americans that could have been otherwise saved.  I feel like Rand Paul and John McCain were on point with their criticisms of her.  I feel a bit blindsided because I consider myself a Clinton supporter, as 'ol Bill was one of my favorite presidents.

President Obama has made a habit of weakening the USA and bending to the will of extremist countries to the point of endangering american citizens.  I am furious with his decisions and foreign policy.  To forge alliances with countries traditionally cool to relations with the USA, he has sold his soul.  In the most recent act, he has gifted 20 F-16 fighter jets and over 200 M-1 tanks to Egypt.  Unbelievable.  You are telling me this is my president?  If I knew we were going to start operating like Russia, selling arms to any country regardless of the negative collateral damage that can and will be done with it?  I'm sure Ben Netanyahu is going to be appreciative that we just armed up Egypt.  This asinine aid package was likely conceived before Mohammed Morsi took power, and considering the current regime in Egypt, it should have been scrapped.  It could have been scrapped, according to sources, but Obama decided to go through with it.  How much longer will Americans put up with the negligent buffoon we have elected into office?  I'm incensed to be an American, today.  Not only did I have to put up with George H.W. Bush, but now I have to endure Obama's policies?  In an area of the world where constant conflict has been the pervasive trend, we are arming the forces of totalitarianism.

To those people(s) of the middle east that frequent these forums that believe in peace:  I apologize for the United States' constant undermining of the peace process.  I can make allowances for the United States' actions in correlation with Iran and Israel, but I cannot condone the direct supply of weapons to wage war put into the hands of a dictator who has done nothing but threaten to wage war with neighboring countries and on his own people.  I don't get it.  Maybe someone could point me in the direction of a country that is accepting citizenship applications because the ignorance of my own people is appalling.  Even after Clinton's unbelievable negligence that killed 4 Americans in Benghazi, her approval rating hangs around 70%.  Are you joking?  This is what Americans think good on-job performance is?  I could use some good old anti-american sentiment, just for today.  Join me.

People were asking what happened at the very end of the video.  Well, if you haven't seen it yet, I did a screen capture.  Peja wrote a message and drew a pictoral on his ass, I guess this picture says it all really.....enjoy!

No offense, but where have all the worms graphic artists gone?  I remember people that used to make amazing sigs for people on cl2k that looked downright professional, I had one or two made for me that were fantastic.  Not that any of the submissions so far are bad, far be it for me to criticize when I downright suck.  SenecA used to be pretty good, but hes never around nowadays, im trying to think of who used to make these.....Seemed like there used to be no shortage of graphics guys and website creators, now it seems like those people have all left the community, there isn't many new clan websites these days even.

  • [DC] When a Double Time crate is collected during retreat, the remaining retreat time is now doubled.
  • [DC] When a Double Time crate is collected by an animal, the animal's remaining fuse time is now doubled.

hahaha damn lol

now i can forget this cheap tactic in kaos, to get double time for the next turn. xd

Actually, grabbing Double Time during a retreat or with a Super Sheep used to do nothing at all. The Double Time was not buffered in your inventory for the next turn; it was instantly set to 0 ammo.

The only time when a Double Time can be saved for your next turn is if it's collected while the team is no longer in control. It was like this before and still is now.
