yes, the default darts scheme of HostingBuddy is just like this

Wow, never noticed that. HB's scheme is almost identical to the one I posted (the only difference is that the HB one doesn't have antisink).

That is a great idea!

This should be updated in the official scheme!

I agree, I think this is a no-brainer change and should be included in the official scheme if the league admins are okay with it.

Sorry for the double post, but I suddenly had an idea:

Since all Darts maps use LG, why not remove LG altogether and halve the default gravity value through extended game options?

Attached the edited scheme if you wanna give it a try.

I am just wondering, if we were to train a local Generative AI (like Stable Diffusion) with maps from various schemes, would it be possible to generate maps for those schemes? Can someone who is more knowledgeable in such stuff provide some insight? I know we have stuff like MapGen, but I am talking about a more advanced level of generative capabilities.

Scheme has been updated for 3.8

  • Constant zero wind
  • Phased worms settings have been implemented
  • Teleport has been removed
  • Extended worms selection settings have been implemented

Kinda late reply, but antisink and rebounds are A-OK.

  • Like Komo said, rehosting is a bigger hassle than paying attention to your sunken worms. If you still somehow have problem counting your worms, just add the turn number before your score (e.g. "1) 50pts" if it's your first turn, "2) 120 pts" if it's your second etc.
  • As for the rebound rule, it makes the scheme 100% luck-free, so it's much better to have it.

This is a worms site, how big of an racing simulator audience can you find here?

haha, obviously he shouldn't market it to us. What I meant was MI could use TUS code for other games too if he wanted to, and market it to the audience of the said games.

DISCLAIMER: I know I haven't been active in competetive scene of TUS in last few years, but keep in mind that it does not have any effect on the validity of the ideas posted here.

Also if I posted this on the wrong board, please move it to the appropiate one.

Worms Rekabet Ligi (or Worms Ranked Leagues) was a website concept created by me for Turkish wormers. It was an ambitious concept that took "what are the things that can be improved upon TUS system" as its basis. I had the ideas, but didn't have coding so it didn't become a reality. Even if it did, I was planning to make it open source anyway, so I thought why not share the ideas with you. Maybe you guys can improve it, or make a use of it somehow. Or it can spark some good discussion. Share your thoughts.

WRL has 5 competetive modes: Ranked Games, Challenges, Tournaments, Cups and Mini Leagues. Each one will be explained below.

Ranks and Dynamic Point Gap™

• There will be 16 ranks for every competitive mode.

• The point gap between each rank will be adjustable to adapt differing levels of activity. I refer to this system as Dynamic Point Gap™. For example, let's say we set point gap in challenges standings to 50, so you can achieve the highest rank when you reach 750 points. But after a lot of players reach 750, we can adjust the point gap to 100, so highest rank will be 1500 and people can strive for higher ranks again (refer to tables below to understand it better).

• Each competitive mode will have separate point gap systems.

Table 1 and 2: Rank list (with point gap set to 50 and 100, respectively)

Ranked Games

WRL's alternative to TUS Leagues are called Ranked Games. The reason it is called that way is because it has some differences compared to TUS Leagues. A modified TUS ELO will be used. I will talk about the modifications and the general outline of the ranked games below:

• There will be no league seasons, ranked games will work as if there is one indefinite season. This is the main reason it's called Ranked Games, because it doesn't have seasons like normal leagues. I always hated the idea of ranked leagues where you have to start from the very beginning every season. Imagine people starting from Bronze in Rocket League every season. It forces people to grind, and although that can spark some activity, it can put people off in the long term. It's not like people who reached very high points will suddenly suck ass.

• Starting point will be 0 instead of 1000. Also, it will be impossible to go below 0. I think going below 1000 is very demoralizing for new players and even pointless to be honest. With this change, a new player can only go up.

• Default won/lost points against an equal player will be 50 (instead of 40 like TUS).

• It will potentially include more schemes than Classic League, but it won't be as cluttered as Free league.

How will Dynamic Point Gap™ affect Ranked Games?

• Point gap for the Scheme Standings will be adjustable depending on the activity.

• Maximum point limit for won/lost points will be equal to current set point gap (instead of standard 80 like TUS). Basically, you can only win or lose one rank worth of points at most.

• Every scheme will have the exact same point gap, they won't have differing point gaps. But still, Overall Standings will have a separate point gap.

Rank Protection™

• A new feature called Rank Protection™ will be introduced. This feature will protect you from derank for one loss, but not for consecutive losses. I'll use some examples to explain it:

Current TUS System          TUS System with Rank Protection
Before match:          Before match:
Mr.A (320) vs Mr.B (320)          Mr.A (320) vs Mr.B (320)
          M r .  A   W I N S
After match:          After match:
Mr.A (360) vs Mr.B (280)          Mr.A (360) vs Mr.B (300)

In this example, both players are Bronze Elite (300-399). With current TUS system, Mr.B loses 40 points and deranks to Bronze 3 (200-299). With Rank Protection, Mr.B loses 20 points instead and sits at 300, the minimum point for Bronze Elite. You can have rank protection as long as you're not sitting at the minimum point for your current rank. So, if Mr.B (300) wins a game, he can have a rank protection again. A player cannot have rank protection if he is already sitting at the minimum point of their current rank. So, if Mr.B (300) loses a game, he will go below 300 and derank to Bronze 3. As I said earlier, this feature protects you from one unlucky loss but not from a losing streak.

• Rank Protection only applies to Scheme Standings, not to Overall Standings since overall points are just the sum of all points you have (exceptions may apply, it will be expalined below).

Rank Expiration™

• A new feature called Rank Expiration™ will be introduced. If you don't play a scheme for 20 days, you will be unranked for that scheme and you will be excluded from its respective standings. Points from unranked schemes won't be included to your overall points. Still, your points won't decay and you will get a rank again as soon as you play one game for that scheme. This will discourage avoiding and promote activity without enforcing grind.

• You won't be eligible for Rank Protection if you're unranked. This will further discourage avoiding.

How to implement Playoffs to this system?

• Top 8 players of the Overall Standings can participate in playoffs. (1st vs 8th, 3rd vs 6th, 4th vs 5th, 2nd vs 7th). A player can also choose to opt out from playoffs.

• Playoffs begin at a specified day, so a player knows till when they have time to get into top 8. It is recommended to have 4 playoffs a year at most (every 90 days or every season like Winter PO, Spring PO or every quarter like Q1 PO, Q2 PO).

• All games are Bo7.

• Only the most popular 7 schemes of the PO season will be used in POs. I mentioned that there could be more schemes than Classic League, but nevertheless less popular schemes won't be a part of PO. If a PO happens every 90 days, Top 7 schemes in that 90 days will be used in that PO season. I hated the elitism behind Classic schemes. If a non-Classic scheme is popular enough to get in Top 7, it should be part of PO instead of a less popular Classic scheme that could not make it. People should learn to adapt with times. For example, according to Season Info page, TRL Darts had more popularity than 11 TRL season came before, which includes classic schemes like Intermediate, Roper, Team17, TTRR and WxW. Because back then, Darts was f@#!in thriving. We saw the same thing for other schemes such as ZaR or Mole Shopper in different periods. Why stick with less active schemes than bitch about inactivity?

Challenges

• In a challenge, 30, 23, 20, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 7 and 6 points will be rewarded for the Top 10, respectively. Anyone outside of Top 10 will get 5 points. This is the current F1 points system with 5 points added for each participant. You can read about F1 point system if you're wondering why this point system is better.

• Unlike TUS, challenges won't have a deadline. They will last forever. Challenges already rewards activity a lot, no need to reward it even more by putting deadlines.

• Challenges may have categories for prevalent schemes (Big RR, TTRR, Darts, Abnormal etc.), and each of these scheme categories will have a seperate point gap of its own. The reason why every scheme won't have the exact same point gap is because unlike leagues, points in the challenge standings will grow exponentially since you can't really lose points like in ranked games.

Tournaments, Cups and Mini Leagues

• Tournaments will allow 3-way finals like in WO.

• Cups will be probably similar to TUS.

• Mini Leagues are like groups of a TUS Cup, but there's only one big group. Basically, like a sports league.

• I really didn't think of a good points system for these to be honest lol.

A non-WA game that could benefit from TUS fully is perhaps Assetto Corsa. Has replays, custom tracks, and allow different racing disicplines (schemes). Races as league games, time trials as challenges, pretty much covers everything TUS has.

I think the app would be good to notify about stuff happening on TUS. For example, I would like to receive notifications if someone uploaded a new scheme on TUS. But this is me, most people I believe wouldn't like to receive notifications about that. So, the app should let you choose which notifications do you want to receive. Most people would like to receive notifications about Private/Direct messages or replies in forum posts. Others would like to be notified about cups or tournaments happening. Others would like to be notified about new challenges or even new maps. I believe the notifications would be a great feature to an app version of The Ultimate Site of Worms.

I agree. It should be extensive. If someone reports a game against me, make a better record than me in a challenge, if a tournament I joined has started, or if someone posts on a thread I have posted, I would like to be notified.

Maybe a better looking DM interface for mobile would be nice? You know, something people can actually use. Like instead of creating a discord server or whatsapp group, people should be able to use clan/group dms here. Maybe DMs itself need some polishing, to allow things like group messages.

Btw a wild idea, but I gotta ask since TUS can snatch data from replay such as the map, chat etc. How about automatically creating MP4 GIFs of some replays by using WA's export video feature? Imagine you sending a TTRR run for a challenge, TUS automatically creates an MP4 for mobile users to watch. If it is possible to extract audio too, you could even have TUS YT channel for all the replays.

Right after a match WA shows a QR code you scan with a smartphone and get instant report on TUS  ::)

Maybe an even easier way is to have a bot like HostingBuddy to host TUS games and it can report automatically on behalf of winner. A bot hoster can also prevent things such as map-whoring, or even avoiding if we also put matchmaking into the equation. You start matchmaking, if you get a match, you're sent a password for the game the bot will host. So, no outsiders, only league players, and their friends possibly as spectators.

Hell, why stop with mobile app, maybe a PC app with features of TUS and a snooper.

Obviously, I don't expect everything I say to become reality. I am already grateful for what we have. I am just brainstorming. :D

Those are good services, but I think it is better to stick with an app some people might already use and convenient for them. Whatsapp can be convenient because most people have, but inconvenient because of privacy concerns. I think that's why Discord is a good option, because there will be people in the "gaming" crowd already using it. It is also fairly private, doesn't require phone number and only your nickname is visible to others.

You can have channels, a general channel for talk, a channel for clanners where people looking for clanners will be present and they can play once there's enough people. You can get instant notification by setting channel settings accordingly, but people can also use mentions to make sure.

Isn't Discord an easier option? It works on mobile too, it also supports voice chat.

General discussion / Re: Unnecessary drama
July 23, 2020, 12:20 PM
I mean there IS pork, but not really easy to find. Turkey is a Muslim majority country, so there isn't any demand for it. I think you can find it on some farms, hunt one, order online, or on a rare ocassion, you can find a canned pork in some big retailer market. But shit's expensive because of the scarcity, so not worth it I guess.
