if you want to set and forget, use Regedit. insert cycles this value, but you can do it yourself manually.
Options located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Team17SoftwareLTD\WormsArmageddon\Options

low waves, no background
"DetailLevel"=dword:00000000

Frutiloops i'm usually online late/evenings (CST), what times are good for you?

One more day, gentlemen.
just to make sure, is this deadline for my game, or just the remaining groups?

No goom around yet...

Sorry, was sick past 2 days. I'm central timezone, so if my math is right, you're available:
Code: [Select]
Sat 4am to 3pm CT
Sun 4am to 6pm CT

i could squeeze in 3am late night match (8am GMT, in an hour after this post) but probably not too long beyond that. i'm usually online around 4am GMT. either Sat (tonight, i'll be idle in WormNET #AG) or Sun work fine.

edit: going to bed soon, beep me (go2m) if you are online before i get off

TUS Discussion / Re: Suggestion: Discord
« on: June 15, 2018, 07:47 AM »
Haha. You said lot of times you don't want to give out that discord link in public.
But as soon as I shouted out other server, you seem to changed longterm opinion, goom!  ;)

Doesn't matter tho, as long wormers are interested in doing some voice and games.

hehe, i guess enough TUS have joined at this point that my standards have lowered ;D

right now Discord server channels are #worms and #offtopic, K.I.S.S. compact. however, i may set up one or two new specific channels (map creation/feedback, WAGame/GIF highlights, etc.) if people seem interested.

Spoiler! View
it's a slippery path :o

Schemes / Re: best scheme for introducing friends to worms?
« on: June 15, 2018, 01:48 AM »
I'd recommend a lax Kaos (give them a couple ropes/teleports/jetpacks to start with). Kaos scheme is great because they can play around figuring out weapons without instant turn loss from damage or missing their single shot by a mile. that can be very frustrating to new players, especially in a larger group (minutes between turns), this gives them a chance to settle in.

Hysteria is in my opinion the best scheme to improve shots, but the fast reaction times make it a bad introduction for newcomers (short wait between turns is a positive, once they're familiar enough to try it).

TUS Discussion / Re: Suggestion: Discord

Community is probably smallest since 1999, so we could make official W:A discord where everyone should transfer instead of dividing for no reason. MI should put image hyperlink on visible spot in TUS and ppl will join, for sure.

agreed, ive seen other (much larger) gaming communities fragment due to this; single would be nice for a change, we're small enough as is!

Links for the various W:A Discord groups?

here's the 'Total Wormage' W:A Discord, just passed 100 members. Sensei is correct that there are some inactive, but the server itself moves along fine. you're welcome to join if you'd like - voice chat while playing is a lot of fun. :)
(if anybody else is into W:A streaming, i can give you 'streamer' role for visibility.)

This might be considered as cheat, I hope they don't, nice module.

I'd consider it an an unfair advantage against those playing without it, especially if it is undetectable.

Will zero lengh file work too? Or it gotta have WAV header and shit?

Code: [Select]
\DATA\User\Fanfare\     ; CD audio, use wkFileOverride (unless Steam version)
\DATA\User\Speech\      ; wkFileOverride (same as above)
\DATA\Wav\Effects\      ; NO file needed, can remove/rename existing to mute
\FESfx\                 ; silent.wav file -required- (frontend error)

in CD \DATA\User\ if you use an empty file (same as if you had deleted it in Steam version) it simply won't recognize it as audio, and in some instances will try a fallback WAV. (like in the case of zero length wormNET Worms!.wav, that would default to Simple.wav trumpets being heard - you'd need to override that file too. with my method, the silent Worms!.wav is played and stops there.)

zero length replacement files in \FESfx\ will prevent the menu from opening altogether. it needs a genuine WAV.

Front-end sound samples failed to load.
Try reinstalling the game.

so yes, Xan, it works... sometimes. when using wkFileOverride i stick to silent WAV just to cover all bases.
attached silent.wav is a more optimized smaller file to use as dummy if you'd like (0.001sec, 200bytes)

anyone else disabled cough*.wav?
The most irritating sound in worms is a map full of sick worms.

Download goom's file six times, rename it as "cough1.wav", "cough2.wav",...., "cough6.wav" , replace it all on the folder directory. Problem solved. ;)

you actually don't need placeholders (see:above) in \DATA\Wav\Effects\, in that case i suggest either:
  • move to new subfolder (e.g. \DATA\Wav\Effects\disabled\COUGH1.WAV) or
  • append to extension so the game doesn't recognize (COUGH1.WAV.disabled).
happy coughing! :)

Anytime, glad to help. I disabled 'typing' noise as well. :)
nice nice ;D

if you're interested:
in \DATA\Wav\Effects\ rename the WAVs to KEYCLICK.WAV.disabled and KEYERASE.WAV.disabled so the game ignores them (and you can easily revert, no deleting). the first is used while typing, the second is backspace/deleting text.

this affects in-game chat, not the menu (not sure where menu sfx are stored)
edit: disregard, working on it now.

disable typing in menu: overwrite \FESfx\ keyerase.wav and softclick.wav with a renamed dummy Worms!.wav (back these up first!), since the game will complain if the files are missing.

the 'KEYCLICK.WAV' in here was misleading me since it isn't used for typing in this environment - that sound is for wormNET lobby (joins/quits).
