Description:
Academy of Artillery #2




Rules:

All matches are 'Best of 5'.

Players can agree on which scheme to play first, the loser gets the next pick, then alternate until someone reaches 3 wins first.

If players can't agree on first pick, play 'Comet Dodging' to decide who gets first pick, then alternate.

Map choice and style is decided by the player who picked the scheme, opponent cannot refuse the pickers map choice.

NO NSFW MAPS

If a draw happens on a mutual pick, both players must agree to a new scheme, they can however agree to the same scheme again.

If a draw happens when a player picked the scheme, that scheme goes back into the available schemes to pick and the other player gets to pick the next scheme from whatever is left to pick from.

TIEBREAKERS

In the event of a tiebreaker between any 2 players, they must play a Bo3 match using any of the 5 schemes.

The 1st pick will go to whoever won in their group stage match.

It will be mandatory that the Semi-Final and Final matches will be scheduled in advance and streamed at https://www.twitch.tv/WormsArmageddonCWA

AT LEAST 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE FOR THE MATCH TO BE SCHEDULED FOR STREAMING!

All other matches are optional though appreciated if you can organize for them to be streamed.

Deadlines:

There will be deadlines set for each stage, there will be no extensions. By signing up to the Cup you agree to these terms.

Group Stage - 4 weeks
Playoffs Quarter Finals - 2 weeks
Playoffs Semi Finals - 2 weeks
Playoffs Final - 2 weeks

These timelines are set in stone, each stage will take that amount of time before advancing.

Which means if one stage is finished early we must wait to proceed to the next stage.

It is each players responsibility to organize their matches before the deadline.

Organizing your matches within the official Cup thread takes priority over all other forms of communiation with your opponent when judging who will proceed due to unfinished matches.

Though players CAN organize their matches outside of TUS if they wish.

you could have added Kirill's own "forts" scheme to the cup schemes as +1 (as you originally wanted), Komi, after all: its a clean BnG based scheme as well. a modified forts scheme basically.

Speaking of forts, the new fort scheme here is fire :-* Seen it in a few games now and its far superior to the tus one!

I have replaced Filla with VoK.

Reason:

Doesn't understand the rules of BnG and seems to not know how to play any of the schemes properly.

I'm ok with noobs joining but they have to follow the rules!

Still over 2 weeks left to play the remaining games

Don't worry though, these are successful events so we'll likely have a AoA#3 around Summer.

I also enjoyed it more than the TUS one. If it were proposed to replace the TFL scheme with this new one, I would support it.

I didn't test the scheme, and i didn't watch a replay to say, but the old scheme had an unbalanced sudden death that usually it would define the game, all the previous stuff before sudden death were pointless. Playing without water rising seems interesting, because you actually hide in the bottom, without worrying about the flood. Not sure if it is better with a "nothing happens" sudden death, maybe balancing the flood could be interesting too. But compared with the old scheme, it is surely better.

Another thing I liked is that the scheme has sheep launcher, what I think is really nice in forts. Forts without Sheep Launcher is not forts for me. Although I would increase the ammo maybe, only 1 seems to few, 2 ammo would be better, but the worms have 80 HP, so not sure.

I could go search in TUS for other Fort proposals, but this one at the moment is indeed better than the old one.

I wouldn't get ahead just yet! Thinking about more tweaks, give it a bit of time first! It's brand new and needs more testing with a wider pool of players to see how certain styles work out.

That's the EXACT issues we had with the previous scheme, everything was always decided in SD when the water rises, it was next to impossible to win before SD with the previous scheme even for me hitting HHGs and Sheeps and Banana all perfect...

The great thing about this scheme is that it rewards skill with quicker games.

Not that long or short games are important, it's more that if you aren't very good, the game can drag on and get very boring, both for the players and viewers.

The previous scheme Fort matches would last 45-60 minutes guaranteed every time, at least with this scheme we see top players get their games done within 30 minutes, I done 2 within 15 minutes.

We took away 1 sheep launcher as 2 was a bit OP.

Of course noobs are more than welcome but this scheme is designed for players who are skilled with artillery schemes. Point being, we took it away because it was too powerful in the hands of the top players making games that little bit too easy.

It doesn't take long to master the sheep launcher if you practise for even 5 minutes offline to see how far it goes with and without LG.

The only thing you can rely on now, is your own abilities, SD cannot save you or put pressure on your opponent like it does in Hysteria/Aerial.




We are thinking about adding SD back in, BUT, it'll happen really late in the game and will only ever really be activated when players take "too long" to finish.

This would keep it from getting too boring, and adding a bit of excitement back into the game if it gets too stale.


Edit - When I said 2 games within 15 minutes, I meant each game within 15 minutes.
