We're waiting on 2 matches now!

oldsock Vs StJimmy - However this might not be played before the deadline as oldsock is dealing with something personal.

Rocket Vs KinslayeR - This might not be played before the deadline either as KinslayeR didn't respond to Rocket in the past 2-3 days, and now Rocket will be busy intil the 29th.

So if they cannot play in time, it looks like Rocket and StJimmy will be going to Playoffs.

You're too late KinslayeR.

You didn't get your group match done with stoner in time before the deadline.

Rocket tells me he messaged you over  several days to organize the Tiebreaker you didn't reply to him. You MUST check your messages and reply to organize matches to avoid situations like this! Rocket has something important to attend to now, but he was online every day and told me he sent you several messages to which none you have replied.

The deadline is tomorrow and Rocket said you never replied to him, so he gets the win for putting the effort in to organize the game whereas, well, you didn't.

It looks like StJimmy will also pass through to PO stage as well due to sock attending something personal.

Though, you guys DO all have until the end of tomorrow to finish your games!


Oh yeah - Posting here that "I can play tonight", isn't very good either, it's best to write down what times you're available to play, and offer times to opponent here in this thread so all can see.

I am kinda sure u messed up here komo, the deadline last time u sayd was 3 days from 25 january, I already play with stoner and leading 2;0 , while in game u writing me it is too late.  Next time make it more clear. coz  I tried 1 month to contact stoner and when he finally shpowed up, u say it is too late, and all coz i did not respond in 1 day coz i was working. Yes, I didn't plan for a Tiebreaker before this event and so here we are, making up the rules for the Tiebreaker! Sorry about that! It's my fault and I take responsibility!

Though here's the thing KinslayeR.

In your group, you're 3rd, behind Rocket, because he played all his games BEFORE the Group Stage deadline started! At first, I'm thinking yes they get technical win, but then I realize, I'm not putting anyone through to PO over anyone else due to a PO tech win.

Which is why there would be a Tiebreaker between you and Rocket.

Now here's the thing... I've been playing games with Rocket almost every day for the past 1-2 weeks, playing Grenade Wars and BnGs a few times a day. He's told me he's been messaging you since when I was even announcing the Tiebreaker stage, which was BEFORE the group stage deadline! You didn't reply to him, he was telling you it HAD to be played before Friday/Saturday because he had plans, which is why he was ready to play all week.

However you were nowhere to be seen!

For starters, your match vs stoner6 will be void because it HAD to be played BEFORE the deadline is gone.

The match vs Rocket, Rocket beat you 3:1 in the Group Stage, so if you guys can't play before the Tiebreaker deadline, then Rocket will go to PO.

I've said it time and time again, communication is VITAL in Cups! You MUST communicate with your opponents because of things like this!

This is what happens when you leave things to the last minute and can't find your opponents.

Of course I'm going to choose Rocket over you because he put WAY more effort into playing his matches than KinslayeR did and finished all his games with plenty time.

If you don't want this to happen again in future, then start paying attention to threads, start putting proper effort into organizing matches BEFORE the deadline!

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Showing up in threads like "I can play today" is useless, it's a forum, not a live messaging app that they can see immediately, they might not see the message for days!

When you join a Cup, the first thing you should be doing is looking at the deadline, and setting aside a bunch of days you know you can play. Then writing those times for your opponents to see, if they do the same then that's when you start negotiating and arranging matches.

The sooner you do this is important because if there are any issues like players incompatible to play each other then we can take action immediately and not wait until the last minute!

Now it looks like I'm trying to screw you over when the truth is you screwed yourself here.

I'm making a double here because the last message is long enough and this goes to everyone.

When it comes to making a decision like this, I make it from a perspective of importance.

When the Cup signups were open the rules are in the description that the deadline for each stage is already set.

Now, granted, there was no rule for Tiebreakers when the Cup started. That was discussed with some players several days before the Group Stage deadline in the Cup and a decision was made.

There is no clear, fair way to proceed players when time zones and activity mean players are on and off at different times.

I've got to base my decision on who will go through based on either clear results, like how for example Group 2 is finished and all different results. Or who made the most effort to organize and play their matches.

It's got to be this simple...

Is this Cup important to you?

If it's important enough to you, you WILL make the effort to check this thread, and communicate with your opponents on a daily basis. From the start.

You WILL think ahead, plan ahead, and organize your life, whether it's work, family, social... Around your games that you've committed to here.

If it's NOT important enough, well, stuff like this happens.

It's not just to improve your own chances of winning but to make the experience better for everyone involved.

So with all that being said how do you decide who goes through when both players can be considered worthy?

For me it's 1st come 1st served. Which is what I've used to decide who goes through with Rocket/KinslayeR.

Third post, I'm going to fully explain the situation, if you think my decision is bad, please explain how I can make a better decision and I probably will!

tita and Rocket look equal by the filtered score that shows but tita is ahead and I'll explain why.

Total = Number of matches played.
Won = Matches won on left / Rounds won on right
Lost = Matches lost

This doesn't take into account how many rounds someone lost! Only how many matches.

If you look at the Game History at the bottom of the picture you can see how many rounds each player lost, let's add it up!

tita - 4 rounds.
Rocket - 5 rounds.
KinslayeR - 4 rounds.
Free - 9 rounds.
stoner6 - 9 rounds.


So the obvious choice here would be tita #1 and Rocket #2 since KinslayeR didn't finish all his games.

However... We've got to take into account how much effort players put into playing their games because it's not fair if 1 player has a chance to make PO but can't find their partner!

So there is a rule that organizing matches within the official Cup thread takes priority over all other forms of communication with your opponent to judge who gets a technical win.

Now, the first player in Group 1 to post in the Cup thread was Rocket:

KinslayeR's first post here was on the 18th! 5 days before the Group Stage deadline...

And his message didn't offer any valuable information to offer times in advance, or let his partners know when he's actually available to play.

And now, 4 DAYS AFTER THE DEADLINE he decides to play stoner6 and thinks it's going to be allowed? When I've already announced the Tiebreaker match between him and Rocket, and that Rocket has been trying to communicate with him for days...

Rocket cannot play now today and Saturday, and KinslayeR shows up saying he's ready, but now it's too late.

So I've got to decide who goes through, because they won't play before the deadline now.

Taking all this into consideration when judging who goes through, it's an easy choice.

Rocket is through to the PO due to lack of interest from KinslayeR.

If anybody thinks I've made a bad decision then please tell me how I could make a better decision.

apparently, stoner6 is MIA.

It would suck for KinslayeR to get a 3:0 technical win because stoner6 isn't available and KinslayeR is.

Also, the circumstances changed after I had a deeper look at who played who, who made the effort and who didn't.

Edit - Sorry for the inconvenience KinslayeR, also sorry for giving the impression you would be going through. I feel bad about this.

I didn't take into account for dealing with tiebreakers the amount of losses, it's not fair that you get a free win and reach PO over Rocket who beat you in Group Stage.

I was expecting Rocket Vs KinslayeR as a Tiebreaker but that's already explained.

Good news though KinslayeR, I am planning on making AoA a frequent event, at least twice a year. Once in Winter, once in Summer.

The more popular it becomes, the greater the prizes will be!

So if you have any suggestions on how to deal with a situation like this in future please let me know so I can make this event smooth for everyone!
