thanks, the outcome may been the opposite if both art and sock had adapted these new rules...

how do you have chances to come back in regular roper??? hiding hard and praying your opponent gets a hard crate, right???

i know because i have done it so many times as well... it gets boring, same thing every game...

not: "woops, bl... your not able to attack this turn, head to the other end of the map to get that cr8"

The scheme is flawed Avi.

The possibility of making a comeback is entirely terminated. Basically it comes down to who starts and can get an early lead. After that it's done, unless the leading guy goes fooling around like a russian noob.

When you're behind you really don't have any real options to defend yourself. Partly because pretty much any hide on the map is reachable within 13 secs. (in regular rope sd you must first cross to the other side of the map AND come back, in just 15 secs. 13 secs gets you way further than halfway; that is to the other side of the map and beyond).
The leading guy can just ignore the crates, as a full hit does more than 2 crates combined.

What really hurts the scheme though is the 3 sec retreat. You cannot attack ánd get away far enough to prevent an easy kill next go. You need to choose.
You can either go for the crate on the other side of the map (and thus not do +50 dmg) OR you can hit and take your opponents hit for granted..
Both options suck ass for the player who's behind. In the latter both worms' energy go down rapidly and you're in for a rapid loss. In the first case (just collecting a health), you can (at most) gain 40HP, but then BOTH your opponent needs to fall AND he needs to miss out on his crate. Against a somewhat decent player that's not gonna happen. Most turns you'll get your crate and the opponent ropes over, collects the crate on the road and then hits you (and then you're another 50HP EXTRA behind).

So yeah, like I said before, you cannot make a comeback in this scheme. That really takes away any opportunity for a player to correct any early-game mistakes or early-game bad luck (one guy gets an easy crate, the other gets an unreachable one: that already is enough to decide a game...). IMO that's more luck than skill.
It also kills the game. When I was losing to Free I just gave up and surrendered. I NEVER do that in any other scheme cause I know there's always a chance. But when I got behind in this one.. I knew it was over and just f*cked about.  :(

Yea the scheme is heavily flawed. For one, there needs to be more fd. With more fd there is a chance at comebacks through nice drops.

Sorry HHC but I feel your opinion is flawed for this reason and this reason only, why should you deserve a comeback if YOU made a mistake?

The truth is, there are solutions, but those are solutions that people are unwilling to accept, people are dumb enough to play on maps that are too hard and then blame it on the crates landing in places in the map that are unreachable, they deserve a slap for starters for making the map, THEY made it, wtf? Serious? SLAP!

You could easily use avi's scheme, and do Bo3/5, each player getting a chance to have the 1st turn, but I don't know anyone willing to put the effort in, their fault for being either too lazy or uninterested enough.

Or use maps similar to the maps I use, with the Classic Roper scheme, but then people complain saying they are too easy, even though they still lose lol or just don't have the experience/skill to use the map to it's full potential which is something that comes with practise if you really want the Roper scheme to be as competitive as possible, that deserves another slap, this time a backhander...

The other reason, and probably the most important reason, being that people are people, and people have differences in opinion, respect others opinions or not, that's the way it is, we can all either agree on something, or continue moaning like idiots for the rest of our WA days.

In T17, Elite, BnG, TTRR, Shopper, Roper, etcetera etcetera you can make mistakes the first few go's and still win it. I'm sure all of you have been 2vs4 behind in Elite or T17 or so. When you can make a comeback in such a game, surely you are the better player on the pitch and fully deserve the win.

Same goes for regular roper. If you're really the best player you'll keep your lead, if you're not so good, and you're playing against a veteran.. it'll be real hard to keep it up. That's how it should be IMO.

In w2roper you gotta be lucky the coin falls your way at the beginning of the game. (in 66% that's the better player's way, but in the other 34% it's the 'noob'). And after that there's virtually no opportunity to turn the game around anymore.

Come on, chaps! Since this cup started, other cups finished not one, but several rounds and you're still stuck in the group phase.
