Words evolve, take on new meanings, are used within different contexts.

Gay originally meant quaint, happy, joyfull. It was then used to describe homosexuals due to the common stereotype happening to fit its orginal meaning.

I dont describe something as "gay" meaning that it is homosexual, I use its alternative meaning to describe something as being lame, inappropriate or unamusing.

This happens with many words, take "black" for example.

How many times have you heard this word be used to describe something negative? "It was a black day", "The black death killed millions", "His heart was corrupt, blackened after being subjected to years of pain and anguish".

You dont get every black man in the world complaining about other uses of the word black, so what makes this any different for the gays?
