Almog, is that question serious? Dont understand what you mean. At first, not all europeans are christians and second, school holidays are in most of the countries not at the same period. It would cause too many troubles (f.e. on the roads). And people without kids doing their holiday whenever they want.

c23 meant holiday as in 'vacation'
not as in Easter,Christmass,etc.

oh well... I thought 'holiday' as in vacation means a vacation that results from holy-days (like Eastern, Chrismas). I didn't know it could also be just a day-off from work.

in UK English we'll say holiday for going on a vacation, in fact the word vacation is rarely used, but US English it is usually referred to as a vacation and holiday would be used for a holy day like you mentioned!
