English folk is nice, but this song just rocks
Drudkh (Ukraine) is widely recognized as one of the best BM bands of today, if not the best. I was thrilled when they made a cover of one of my favourite other bands, Sacrilegium from Poland. I think it combines the best of both, the production quality and skillful play of Drudkh and the 'sweeping' rhytm of Sacrilegium. There's a folkish part in there (3:30) as well as a sweet solo (, it's a great song:
One band I've also come to love in the past months is Krepulec from Poland. They play neofolk with a bit of a martial touch. I really love how they use the accordion, it makes the music swing and at the same time give it some extra romantic depth:
