Happy new year! Adjust or disable snow!
« on: December 25, 2013, 11:03 PM »
This module will allow you to enable snow anytime without having to change the date and without affecting map generation, as well as customize it a bit.
DOWNLOAD

NEW:
  • All W:A versions since 3.6.28.0 are supported.
  • Change size of snow. Valid sizes are "Small", "Normal", "Big" and similar, or 1, 2, 3, where 2 is default.
  • Change amount of snow particles to any value from 1 to 2147483647*, where 512 is the game's built-in default.
  • You can force no snow for Christmas (and other days) with the corresponding option in ini file. Snow will be disabled, and the amount/size values will be ignored. The module still has to be "Enabled" for this to work. Christmas map generation is also not affected.

* - on most common PCs, setting more than 150000 particles may decrease the FPS.

Supported versions:
- 3.7.2.1 (all)
- 3.7.0.0 (all)
- 3.6.31.2b - probably doesn't work
- 3.6.31.0
- 3.6.30.0
- 3.6.29.0
- 3.6.28.0 (snow was added in this version)

Dec 30 2013 23:59:44 <StepS> windowed mode isn't the only thing you need about frontend
Dec 30 2013 23:59:49 <StepS> you need it to be actually bigger
Dec 31 2013 00:00:13 <StepS> it actually is very small on my 15-inch full HD screen
Dec 31 2013 00:00:25 <StepS> while running at 640x480 or stretched mode makes it fuzzy
Dec 31 2013 00:00:44 <StepS> this problem has been around since the Worms Armageddon's release and no one has even tried to beat it

Time ago I really dislike it, but now I almost love it lol. Thanks for it, man  ;D
Btw, you could do something like little worms spinning instead of stars/ snowflakes? would be fun ^^

there's a big problem with introducing new sprites. Frontend palette is extremely limited (which is why there's no white space in settings screen), and also which is why the doomsday comets only flew in the main screen. Their palette is messed up otherwise. Even if you modify the .pal files it's still not all so good: various graphics use the stars/spanners palette slots, and depend on them.
