Wormkit Modules / Re: wkWormOrder v. 1.0.0 released
« on: September 04, 2021, 11:50 AM »
I think it would be nice if there were an option in W:A to disable any other online players' customizations in your game client locally. It would solve the gibberish worm names problem, as well as being able to hide obnoxious graves or flags. Obviously it takes away from the social/creative aspect of worms a bit, but at this point I feel like team names are kind of just noise for me.

I think it's nice what syc said there. I would support the idea that, in the game itself, or through a module, you had an option to leave the game with a "default" layout, without any player customizations, and that, imo, should include everything.

Regarding graves, I can mention obnoxious graves (giant concrete donkey for example) and others that can confuse the player (fake mine etc.).

Regarding the worm's voice: I think would be nice if we could hear the voice in our language if we wanted. Some phrases are useful to know (reinforcements arrived, regarding team weapons etc.). Or, simply, maybe some people would like to hear the game in their language only.

Regarding the names of the worms, with a module or game option, all worms would appear as worm 1, 2, 3 etc, in their order. It could be good for two sides: streamers and players. It would end the problem with gibberish worm names or in different languages (hard to pronounce in streams). It would allow streamers and spectators to see players team orders, allowing them to make more deep analysis of the game. In relation to the players, I don't see the need for a player who wants to make it difficult for the opponent to figure out the order of his team (creating new teams before league matches or using gibberish worm names). I think everyone should know the order of the oponnent team in certain schemes. I, for example, have notes of the order of my opponent's teams and already memorized of some people I play often. On the other hand, since I always use the same team in leagues, I know that some of my opponents know my team's order because have it memorized or have already noted. And even if you haven't noted it down beforehand, you can get during (as some people are saying) or between rounds (through replay file).

But, if there was a module for that, it would be interesting if it behaved like /arrrows. Nizikawa said he can make a module behaviour like that.

Ah, this discussion took place in the past!? Nice. I'll look later.

EDIT: this topic made by Abnaxus got a little confusing ??? Well, my idea is just a place, organized, where there will be a history of friendly matches, which don't enter the league statistics. For me, the place that MI indicated is fine! Occasionally I think I will report there.

A funner league could be fun. It could just keep track of wins and losses per scheme. But it would require player to be registered on TuS though.

I would like this.

I hope we won't get to that point one day, where one player uses it, and the other doesn't, but he/she still needs to accept the other using it

Yes. That would be a problem. I will transcribe here what I said in discord. The problem I see with using this module in leagues would be the combination of this module with gibberish worm names, while the opponent doesn't have the module. But, I have a principle that names to confuse the opponent should not be allowed in leagues, just as blank names are prohibited. Knowing the team order of the oponnent is critical in some schemes. I don't think it's fair to use gibberish worm names to confuse the opponent. Plus, there's also the fact that it's bad for streamed events. How commentatores can pronounce names like that?

Anyone can memorize 8 worms in a team (does not require skill for that) and usually people play leagues with teams that already know the order. The idea of the module is also to allow people to feel free to have many teams to play the league or even create new ones more freely, as they won't need to memorize all of them over and over again.

Promotion Project / TUS section to report friendly matches
« on: September 03, 2021, 02:34 PM »
A few days ago I had this idea and I've already received some positive feedback from some players but I would like to hear from more people now.

The idea is as follows: to have a section on the site dedicated only to reporting friendly matches, and to keep a history of them, however, without these reports interfering with league statistics.

I'll list some positive points I thought:

1) the funner game, which had a remarkable victory, with beautiful moves or against a difficult player etc., could be registered for other people to see and not be forgotten;
2) it could be a more subtle and easier way to introduce those people who want to participate in the community in some way, but don't want to play league yet because they don't feel good or for another reason;
3) allow ALIAS report the game without breaking league rules, because it's only a friendly match.

Great job! Regarding leagues, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be allowed.

I don't think what differentiates a good player from a bad player is his ability to memorize his own team's order. Sooner or later, everyone memorizes their own team's order.

I had an idea of a module that Nizikawa is disposed to make. And I would like to hear your opinion about it.

There are some schemes (vg, intermediate), where knowing the order of your own team is very important. Therefore, many players always play with the same team, to avoid having to memorize the sequence of new teams.

So, I imagined the idea of a module that, beside the name of the worms, appears the number that indicates their order in the team, which only you can see. Something like that:

Perhaps, this can have two benefits: it allows people to feel more free to create new teams without worrying about having to memorize new team orders, and makes it more difficult for those who write down the sequence of the opponents, since people can have multiple teams, and they can always be creating new teams.

Personally, I would like this idea, as I would like to have many teams, with many themes and ideas. But, in intermediate, the creation of new teams always brings the difficulty of having to memorize them again.

There's also an upside that I think streamers would like. Because I know my team's sequence, I (and maybe other players as well) could write the worms' names in English, in order to facilitate the understanding and pronunciation of the worms' names by the streamer commentators. I wouldn't mind, since I wouldn't need to stick to the name of the worms any longer to know the order of my team.

It's an option. The downside is that it's bad to pick good maps with it.

207
I've been thinking about a solution to find out who lost connection during a match. Is there a site that both players can connect to before a match, and the site monitors who has lost the connection, through some kind of connection history? That way, in case someone loses the connection and there is no third person on the game, both players will know, through this site, who lost the connection in the game.

Schemes / About intermediate scheme rules. Missing information?
« on: August 26, 2021, 08:06 PM »
Guys, I think the rule regarding the sequence of maps is missing on intermediate scheme page - https://www.tus-wa.com/schemes/scheme-10.

I'm going to copy the rule from the NNN website, which can be used as a reference here:

The following, is just a suggestion but, becomes an obligation if both players are not in agreement with the subject: Regarding the type of terrain to select in successive rounds, you should choose cave in case best of 1 game, island-island-cave-cave-(…) in case best of 3 game and cave-cave-island-island-(…) in case best of 5 game. The main idea is to play more or less the same number of caves as islands, because in this way skills of the players will be tested under a good variety of different terrains. Also in this way both wormers will get more or less the same amount of starting turns on an island and the final round (after 1-1, 2-2 results) will be played (except situations when you got draws in some rounds) on a cave to minimize "the first to move" advantage. - http://www.normalnonoobs.com/rules/en#rules
