Well it's just a suggestion it's not an obsession Ryan.

I just remember the days of 3 schemes in WACL and it was pretty awesome.

incorrect. WACL only had 3 schemes for the playoffs, as did all major leagues until FB and TUS and other ranked schemes.

WACL had bng, fort, rope, rr, t17, pro, elite.

CL2K was the same and didn't take long until shopper was added. Shortly after shopper i think WL, xtc and FB all accepted wxw as fort and pro died in popularity.

I'm on page 3 of this thread and still think my idea of a point based league and any pick would be the solutions. We could use the 3 scheme categories that Komodo is suggesting for the playoff picks perhaps?

i've not read this whole threat but when i was online and have been in ag the other week i always managed to find a good game in a classic scheme with players of good competition. Some of those games were reported as TUS games and thats one of the points raised earlier in the thread that people need to actually play instead of being idle on AG and just posting on forums.

However the approve doeasn't apply to the whole population of AG.

My suggestion would be to encourage competitive play but not dividing and chopping up the league into multiple league types, theres too many different leagues and i have no motivation to play competitively in a ranked system when the league seasons over over 200 days! when i report some TUS games this is what season info gave me.

Money has nothing to do with things and people who care about the game will play without the motivation of cash. The history of worms funded leagues is very short vs the history of ranked leagues in general.

My honest opinion would be to go back to a very basic league system. Remove ratings, award 3 points for a win and -1 for a lose. Set a limit of how many league games in a season and keep seasons to only be 1 month (maybe 2 depending on how active the new league is). Set game limits against the same player. ALLOW DONs (this lets active players play alot more games and the thrill of seeking a prefect 50-0 record).

Next radical suggestion. Allow any scheme to be played (as long as uploaded and TUS approved). This way the league is open to all players, people won't care about avoiding if they can play their pick, even if its a non-classic scheme, and gives all players in AG the opportunity to learn a 'ranked' league system. If you allow DONs, then perhaps people won't mind playing a non classic scheme. The era of today isn't classic schemes, so why not let new players pick the schemes they enjoy in a competitive setting?

Playoff picks would need to alternate like usually and more thought would go into this.

If tomorrow i could create this league system above I would, but sadly i can't and won't be able to find out if it gets games until someone else does or MI is happy to completely revolutionise TUS into a whole new point based open single league system.

clearly there is a growth in popularity of schemes like mole and supersheeper

but still players online enjoying classic schemes who remember high tus league activity.

I think the solution to a competitive league environment is to merge classic and free league. An open league where any scheme is played (it has to be a recognised scheme available for download on tus website).

Make the seasons 30 days again, and make it simple 3 points for a lose, minus 1 point for a lose.

Playoff schemes would be all avaiable schemes and higher seed picks first, seeing as there would be loads of free league schemes and classic make it like bo5. Or work that out later if league activity picked up.

I'd have no problem playing mole, sheeper, inter etc if i meant i could pick my favourite classic schemes and still be crowned best wormer at the end of a season..

Does MI have time to code anymore?

that won't work, because any scheme maker (and at the same time host) could make a rule of "first person who gets a turn can use invis" or something dumb like that. Imagination is the limit here.

about activity, I'm in the middle of making an english version of VitAp's big tutorial, let's see how activity will go after that released. I might also need an editor for this.

If both players agree to the scheme and light, game if valid!

is there a way of merging free league and classic, and reducing season length again so there is something to aim for?

I guess i'd play more if i knew when i came online i could find a competitive game.

There is the argument why a game needs to be league vs non league to be competitive but its way more fun when all points logged somewhere and you see progress and historical stats

kids, family life, when i find time outside of work and for myself its usually spent watching tv series if i'm not spending free time with my partner.

I'd like an hour or so a day/every other day if i knew i could come to ag and find tus games..

i'll play

maybe all clans could recruit noobs just to do 2vs2. We set up a rule like fair play rules where we all need limited number of non skilled players to teach schemes haha

i recently saw the video games Guinness book of records. I actually made me think of WA and if there was a way that the community to reach out to Guiness World Records to come up with a Worms world record. I guess the easiest would be for an agreed RR map to be selected and to compete for the worlds fast ninja rope racer. Maybe there is some PR Team17 can do or as a community we could reach out and put WA back in the public eye, this might bring some players back out of the wood work to try and be world record holder in W:A.

I can't remember exact dates and such, but I do remember a time in which WWP was definitely more popular / active than W:A. A very large number of people switched to WWP for quite a while... that is, until some of the W:A updates made it worth switching back, even at the expense of some of the WWP features.

I just think it's a shame that W:A is the game that got updated rather than WWP.
WWP was more popular than WA for about 3 months at the very most, I played both for the first year WWP was around.  Sales numbers will confirm why WA is still the more used game.  Consumers realized WWP was a ripoff and didn't buy it in the same numbers as WA.  Don't know why you want the useless wormpot modes WWP shipped with, no one really used them anyways, at least those that participated in league sites like cl2k and TUS, which is what we are messaging on right now.

I seem to recall the buzz for being more than 3 months. IIRC, a lot of people played WWP for at least a year, if not two. Eventually though everyone came back to W:A. Yeah, WWP was kind of a cash grab (as Team17 is known for now) but at the time I welcomed those extra features and used them all of the time.

It was fun though, i remember having CKC on wa and vP on WWP, going to WWP and amazing some of the original WWP players who didn't know WA guys. Like HHC said, WL was more active in singles over WWP for a short space of time. I actually won the WWP singles league one season, something I never managed to do on WA. I think i beat almog in the playoff final :) Back when you only needed had 1 rope, bng and 1 default in POs.  ;D

Hi WA community, the cliche post on forums as an inactive oldschool wormer thread is here.. probably for a second or third time from me (not as many as Y2JID :p)

My login is cached on this laptop so i can post as not sure what my PW and email is for the account. Read the thread about the WA community slowing down and I can confirm like nino and Fada said, life happens, and in that life i'm proud to say I became a father and my son is 8 months old. All my free time is spent at work or family. My hands are full and I wish i have more time to play WA but I just don't. Hope everyone is well.
