September 12, 2016, 10:11 AM
Bonus
Here's two bonus builds you might find interesting:

Level 0 (~$75)
Raspberry Pi 3 is great. For that price you get a good portable PC for non gaming(or for retro gaming) purposes.
Other: CanaKit Raspberry Pi 3 Complete Starter Kit - 32 GB Edition
Total: $74.99

Level 9 (~$12300)
You're rich and want a no budget overkill PC that you probably gonna end up playing only WA on it? This is the everything included overkill build you're looking for.

Build a PC / Triad's PC Builds ($300 - $2000)
September 12, 2016, 10:10 AM
Hello TUS

I sometimes help people at reddit for building PCs. I help them to pick right components for their needs. So I thought maybe I can come up with some build presets from different price ranges so people can pick one for their next step to PC gaming.

P.S: Prices might change as the time passes, click on PcPartPicker list of each level to see latest lowest prices for USA.

Level 1 (~$250)
Cheap PC build without a dedicated graphics card. You should be able to play all old games and most not so new games at lowered settings.

Level 2 (~$420)
1080p entry level gaming, CS:GO, LoL, DOTA2 should run great. I added a cheap 120GB SSD so you can install your OS here. I also added a dedicated GPU.

Level 3 (~$580)
The console killer. You can run almost all latest games at 1080p medium/high settings with 60fps. Much better CPU than Level 2. Bigger but still cheap SSD. If you'll have space issues, you can always buy and install a HDD.

Level 4 (~$750)
1080p high-ultra settings. This is where gap between consoles and PC becomes much bigger. Quad core CPU, higher quality PSU, much better GFX. You can get a freesync monitor if you go with the RX 480. And freesync monitors are much cheaper than Nvidia's G-sync monitors.  This is probably best bang for buck build currently.

Level 5 (~$1150)
1080p/1440p Ultra settings, VR Ready. i5-6500 replaced with i5-6600k. And since 6600k is an overclockable, I added an aftermarket cooler since stock cooler might not keep up with overclocking. Motherboard is replaced with a higher quality one. I also put 2x8gb RAM. Previous good bang for buck SSD is replaced with quality M2 SSD. Also put a better case. GTX 1070 won't let you down.

GTX 1080 is the best Gaming GPU (if we exclude Pascal Titan X) so it'll run everything at best quality.

It would be fun if devs brought original w2 rope on WA and made it activatable with a command like /w2rope on upcoming v3.8, or on rubberworm, so people could use it on funners or host tournaments and cups for it.

The command that simulate Worms 2 rope is already available in rubberworm /ir.

Although, it would be nice to have this command without rubberworm.
Oh, is it a complete replica of  original w2? Or just something closer?

There was a NES, SNES and N64 machine which would use specific hardware depended on cartridge you put. I doubt it's something like that though.

Nice. Does it emulate games' or runs all games on hardware?

The reasons CEN64 lags on some PC are because it's still on early state and it's cycle accurate. They're aiming to run entire N64 library. Project64 uses some hacks to make games look like its original n64 version. While it makes popular titles playable, it makes obscure titles completely broken. They'll work on lower specs after some development obviously. Of course Project 64 is still playable for me but why I shouldn't want a better emulator? Not to mention with new gfx cards released, it's cheaper to build a decent PC.

The only reason to buy a console is to play their exclusives, you can play all multi platform on a PC with a joypad on your coach if you choose, that argument went out the window long time ago. And in regards of exclusives, Nintendo is the go-to machine. Not because the other consoles don't have any, but because Nintendo has more unique and innovative ones. It's pretty reasonable to compare Dark Souls with Bloodborne, but you will not be able to compare Splatoon, Pikmin etc. with anything really. Again, I am only talking exclusives vs. exclusives. I don't care about the power/features/graphics of a console because it's irrelevant with a PC in my room.
My thoughts exactly. If a game is available on multiple platforms, try to play it on its best platform, and that's usually PC unless there's a bad port. And I agree Wii is more unique. I mean you cannot find something like Wii sports, Pikmin etc on other platforms. Of course if you have zero interest to Wii you're free to go other platforms.

My general priority for gaming hardwares would be:
1- PC
2- Wii U
3- Old consoles with large exclusives library which doesn't have a good emulator on PC.
4- PS3-PS4/XB360-XB1
5- Old consoles which has good emulators on PC but you wanna play with original stuff.

I guess it sucks now though, being used to decent graphs.
I can't even start up a ps1 game without being overwhelmed with pixels :D
There are still exceptions like Castlevania Symphony of the Night. That game was dope. I played it quite a lot on my modded PS2.

Speaking of PS2, there are ridiculously cheap offers for PS2. It can run PSX games too, you can even run some emulators if you mod it. I am thinking to get one since my PS2 is dead. I miss playing Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3  with my brother, it was the best DBZ game ever made. :D

Nevertheless consoles were much better before. I honestly hope Nintendo and other consoles would die as hardware manufacturer and live as software dev like Sega on Steam. I am tired of seeing console exclusives and nice titles with their gimped specs. Imagine how awesome games like Last of Us would be without hardware limitations on PC. Hopefully we'll see some XB exclusives on PC soon.
