Indeed. Some of our oldschoolers just can't let go of their old sweet times.
Still you can see around this: "It will be never like good old times again".
That's not what I'm saying,
au contraire I've often said I like it better on wormnet now than ever before.
QuoteI bet many of those super legends with the highest possible skill level will be beat easily if they start to play now.
No... one of the main reasons why I'm still around now is that the skill level is pretty even among the top players. I took a break mostly because there wasn't a single chance I'd win a tourney anymore. There were always like 3 totally unbeatable players in every scheme.. in RR, in Rope, in Elite and even in T17 I needed a whole lot of luck to make it to semi finals.
Nowadays there are no true specialists anymore. However, people are generally better overall, they are more all-round. Previously the best Elite'ers were pretty noob at rope and vice versa. Now everyone plays everything, at a decent skill level too. I like that much better than the huge inequality in skill level of the period when I left.
During the time of Gigaliga, there were players who played over 250 games of Elite in a single month. Naturally these guys were better at it than players now. Same for the RR-scene during RR-kit. It's not a shame to be second to these guys. A balanced competition is far more important IMO.
