Plus it's impossible to compete against the people who play every damn Tournament, and how are you supposed to compete with 100 russian players when your country has only 5 lol...
lol it's the same irl olympic games and no1 complains

It is?

It totally is.

Olympics top 3:
1988: 1: Soviet Union, 2: USA, 3: West-Germany
1992: 1: Unified team*, 2: USA, 3: Germany
1996: 1: USA, 2: Russia, 3: Germany
2000: 1: USA, 2: Russia, 3: China
2004: 1: USA, 2: China, 3: Russia
2008: 1: China, 2: USA, 3: Russia
2012: 1: USA, 2: China, 3: UK

Notice any repeating names? :) Big countries with big money. Countries either don't have a lot of money (India and such) or not a lot of people (small european countries), so they don't get close to the top spots.

You can take from WO whatever you like. If winning the most points is irrelevant to you, that's fine, but you can still play other schemes, as Dmitry pointed out.

*(Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Khazakstan, Kyrgystan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan)

TheKomodo

Yeah but that still looks like 4/5 different countries have chance for top position, with WA it's pretty much always gonna be Russia atm, obviously real olympics are still quite similar but I don't think quite as bad lol.

As others said here, I liked WO some years ago when it was more skilled and organized, these days it just seems to be all the heavily luck based funner schemes.

I would love to take part if there were less Russian players, and more UK, USA, Germany, France, Spain etc, but sadly it's like bringing a knife to a gun fight...

Does it matter what country wins? I would just play for fun seeing as there are not too many live tournaments these days...

XanKriegor

Ye, WO helped me a lot to become more familiar with WA community, so its not that useless  :D

Yes, if I were to play, it would matter to me.

You know how much I dislike unfairness in games, WO to me is one of the most unfair and ridiculous things that ever existed on WA.

I understand it's fun for other people who don't care about doing the best they possibly can, doesn't mean I can't hate on it :P

I will the do the best I can, but for personal glory only :P

I mean it would be nice if my country won but it is not the most important thing for me.

It's weird for you to focus on the negative rather than the positive...

The tourneys that are hosted in WO are the ones the community hosts. If there are no darts tournaments, you could ask dS why no one is hosting one.
You can use WO for whatever you like. You can play some new schemes you've never seen/played before to see if they are fun, you can play in multiple tourneys in the schemes you do like and you can play for points.
Clearly, the latter is not for you, but that still leaves 2 options.

TheKomodo

LOL! I just knew you were gonna use those words against me in this thread :D

Not the best of moves being involved in 2 threads with opposite feelings at the same time haha ;)

There are actually plenty Darts Tournaments, I play some of them simply cuz there is nothing else for me to do while other people are playing WO, that's the main reason I don't like WO, it decreases Clanner activity and I can't play dS Tours etc with people cuz WO lol, that's the disadvantage to being a scheme specialist :/

Remember: 2015 Worm Olympics PREDICTION thread! That means that there should be predictions going on. Also, I play to see if I could represent the Ultra league, for points, and for promotion of my Ultra league. The Worm Olympics also open up new opportunities to improve my skills, so I'll play more games this year than I did in the 2014 Winter Worm Olympics...

Well, sorry to burst your bubble, Komo, but...

Well, sorry to burst your bubble, Komo, but... It seems Worm Olympics has started so f**k everything else in WA for the moment...

At least try and make sure replays and standings are properly updated this time.

And btw, should get rid of the "multiplier" thing, it's a pretty bad idea, only the popular schemes like Comet Dodging and Hysteria will have most players, schemes like Roper, TTRR, WxW, Darts, Abnormal all miss out...

OMG it's just so horribly organized lol, I wish it was more balanced so I could actually enjoy it...

Those are updated automatically once the replays are uploaded, so I don't understand why you're demanding this of Balee. It's not like he joins every game ever on WO and has to upload them all himself.

You do understand why the multiplier was added, right? It's far less hard to win a tourney with 16 players than it is to win one with 60 players. Seems perfectly logical to me.

That's what the multiplier is for, silly. The problem with medal count is that the system is inherently unbalanced. You could count the average, but then the person who wins the first tournament could just not play any more tournaments and claim the win of WO - especially if you remove the awful, dreadful idea of the multiplier.

In your view, the best WO would probably be one where each scheme gets the same attention with regards to how many tournaments are held, but here's the thing - WO doesn't have a small group of mods who could take care of all tournaments. The simple fact is that not all schemes are equally popular.

You've put yourself into a niche corner with darts and such, so make the best of that niche during the olympics or stop complaining :P

Ytrojan

Worm Olympics start on July 18. From then until August 16, you can do mid-season predictions. On August 17, predictions end and this thread will be locked.
