i enjoy the fact there's no patsy bullet, but the map is too long and my hands get tired quickly :(

haha I played this scheme a lot with UISxFighter (he created it, didn't he? early 2010's), pretty fun scheme, but not suitable for leagues imo

also, the schemes people host in #ag != the schemes league players would play in TRL, they have nothing to do

What are your points about it not being suitable for leagues?

....

The only thing about this scheme that is not competitive is because nobody tried to make a cup or something with it

...

But I do think if someone hosted a cup of this scheme it would be a success, because it is damn fun and makes you laugh and think fast.

That was exactly what I was thinking. There has never been a cup for it, and players have barely ever heard about it before. Even when it might not be as luck based as other schemes, it probably still needs some balancing; for all we know, because it's never been tested outside funners.

Maybe a cup first would be better than just throw it in a league and see how it does, we don't even know if people would like it.

also, the schemes people host in #ag != the schemes league players would play in TRL, they have nothing to do

I think we shouldn't rely on a TRL where we would expect only TUS players to compete in it considering how a lil bit inactive TUS is : ] While I was still playing TRL:team17, I invited half a dozen new players from wormnet to this site, just so they could play with me. Then it's another thing that 98% of them didn't remain here.
But if there would be a TRL Kaos (bo3) or TRL Shopper (bo1) pretty sure if we would start hosting it on AG people would like to play with us, it could be explained that we are playing for this league, they should register here etc, new players would come. Because as of now in 2022 it seems to be Kaos is probably the most frequently hosted scheme ever. (I'm sad for this :(:D)

The point is, you can't really please everyone. Who would you rather please, the people that actually put effort in playing league games? or your casual AG players that you might never see again in your life?

IMO, the good part about TRL T17 was that the skill ceiling isn't necessarily as high as it could be in TTRR or other schemes, so rusty players could hop in and get the hang of it in a couple of games. At the same time, newcomers or rusty players didn't really have problems facing experienced players in a scheme where luck factor is big enough so you can always "have a shot".

It's interesting to see how TRL players are distributed depending on the type of schemes. According to TUS,

  • Season 27 (ZaR) had 25 players (10 of them had more than 10 games)
  • Season 28 (80 Normal) had 13 players (only 1 of them had more than 10 games)
  • Season 29 (T17) had 54 players (23 of them had more than 10 games)
  • Season 30 (T17) so far had 26 players (12 of them had more than 10 games)

If you check the names of those players that played more than 10 league matches, you will barely find any new faces. People that keep an eye out for leagues are always the same... I understand perfectly where you are coming from, but it's really hard to make newcomers engage on leagues. Even more so, newcomers probably won't vote in the scheme choosing poll, so their likings aren't even being taken in consideration right now.

I would enjoy playing Plop Gum, but the HostingBuddy version known as Rubber Plop War which has less abuse of Baseball Bat. However, I know no one would play that, because people only play Kaos.

I would play Blast Zone, just because it is part of the game, and I don't remember the last time I played this scheme.

Currently I'm more busy, so don't consider my opinions so much.

I could revive the legendary official classic kaos league

Keeping supplies between rounds is an integral part of the tactics in this scheme and by abandoning this function you kill a large percentage of the interest in playing Kaos.

actually Sibasa, have you ever been to AG? If so, have you ever joined a Kaos host by others, which was not TUS kaos? then again, you can be pretty sure that 98% of players are playing 1 rounder, or 2 rounder Kaos matches, without stockpiling.

This is neither about TUS nor AG, it's about Kaos League. The scheme people in any of those places decide to play has nothing to do with the version played in Kaos League. If any of those players ever become interested in playing a Kaos League, they can come and post about those changes themselves.

That's more fair, and makes more sense. In 1 round match, you can't say that its luck based, because a more experienced kaos player even with the shittiest spawns, and getting the worst weapons from the crates will still always defeat a less experienced kaos player. No one plays it with stockpiling, only for TUS.

Are you implying a highly luck based scheme should be Bo1? Even when a match between two experienced players can be decided entirely by luck, if that were to happen?

And you can see how many tus league Kaos matches are being played in the past years.. :) ?? Not many, to say the least. ;D

Is this of any substance? Does this even mean anything?

That doesn't happen to people who are good at rope. If you're just playing TTRR and you're really good at it, you don't need to train WxW and Roper to beat someone who isn't good at rope, so you will have 2 or 3 free wins only because of 1 skill (rope skills) in one scheme, because you will always have free wins in rope schemes against people who is noob in roping.

This is a bold assumption you can't really prove. I had to practice like 5 years to become mediocre at TTRR, and even then I can't play Roper to save my life.

I don't think so. If you are a pro TTRR player, you will be at least a good player in other rope schemes, because you know mechanics, know how to roping fast and safe etc. So, even if you don't practice wxw and roper too much, I'm sure you can beat who don't like or barely know how to touch 2 walls in roper and make an atack in SD.

So, I don't consider who wins allround PO an allround player if he gets 3 free wins in rope schemes. Someone can be good in hysteria, BnG, intermediate, elite and lose the PO just because this person is not good with rope and the oponnent get 3 free wins in rope schemes.

Neither is a person that picks 3 ground schemes, but that's not the league's problem. If we had some sort of "balanced" competition, like, a lot of good Allround players, maybe PO's wouldn't look so unbalanced. The problem right now is we don't have the amount of real "Allround" players to justify having it as it is, and separating Rope from Ground probably would make it better, but I don't know.

Yes... but at least this person who master many ground schemes (elite, t17, hysteria, intermediate, bng) is much more closer to an allround player (despite not being a true allround player) then one person who wins PO just because is PRO with one main skill (rope skills).

I disagree with you, mostly on the rope schemes part, but that's it I suppose. I'm not here to change anyone's mind.

Actually, IMO, nobody that is only able to play "one half" of the schemes should be winning an "Allround" title.

Original post

Roper and WxW are different schemes, and so is TTRR. It's not like being good at one of them automatically makes you good at the rest, so that's not a valid argument, in my opinion.

If two players (a ground player and a rope player) are facing each other in PO's, whoever earned more points during the regular season gets to pick 3 schemes. If the person that got more points didn't get any benefit from it, what would be the encouragement for a person to play after qualifying to PO's?

And I also agree that if you are gonna play allround league, you should be able to defend yourself in any scheme, so this sort of change makes it unfair for people that, just like ground specialists, have chosen to specialize in rope schemes.

Leagues Playoffs / Re: Free League Singles Playoffs #34

I think that the idea of erasing schemes in turn is not ideal, because the players analyze each other before the game and, first of all, the players will exclude schemes in which their opponent is clearly strong, so some mediocre nonsense will remain in the list, and not something that pleases both players.
I propose to modernize this idea: Before starting to erase schemes one by one - the players choose one scheme that cannot be deleted, and then erase the unwanted schemes. This will keep both players interested in the upcoming games.

But still it is not correct to deprive players of the game in the schemes they want, so I also adhere to the idea of simply increasing the number of games, for example, BO9 will be optimal if we take into account the number of schemes in TFL.

I think we should reduce the amount of schemes in Free League before trying any of these changes. There are so many schemes in Free League right now that you can hardly be bothered to master (or learn at least) all of them, and there is almost no incentive for a person to play the league if your opponent can just pick a scheme you have never seen in your life. I don't even know, for example, if Pro is in Free League anymore, or if Big RR is in Classic or Free; heck, people can't even remember Holy War rules anymore.

Right now, there are 19 schemes in Free League. What about we reduce it to 12? Then, each person would be able to ban 2 schemes, you'd have a pool of 8 schemes. We should open a poll, maybe? So these schemes are decided by activity and not niche pickers.

(Also, completely off topic, what about opening a poll to remove donkeys in T17?)

I played some free league seasons myself (years ago hehe), and I agree completely with ZorroX,, free league is unbalanced, mostly because:

- There are TOO MANY schemes in it (man, what the hell is elemental?)
- Some of those schemes were added because of a burst of activity, then those players were never to be seen again.
- People can master 3 schemes and win a league season (especially if there are not a lot of players).
- With this, a person almost automatically wins if they get to pick first.

There is almost 100% chance any person is a rookie in at least 3 of the free league schemes; and if you want to improve at a certain scheme, you have to find someone that plays the scheme too, which is a hard task by itself lmao.

Scheme elimination sounds fine to me.

Wait, is bat glitch allowed?

The challenge did not mention about a rule regarding the glitch. The original scheme made by sbs allows it, since sbs is fan of this glitch and use it in several Board Game tasks of his maps. In my replay of the second map added in this challenge, I used the glitch many times.

EDIT: also, the scheme was made before version 3.8, so it was possible to use the glitch before the update.

I avoided using it because I thought it was forbidden. Bahhh

I would like to see this scheme without bat at some point

Yes, I was thinking about this. Not sure if eliminating the bat or just limiting the ammo. Maybe turn off Angle glitch too. My only concern about removing the bat, is that some parts would be very hard to pass on some maps, newbies could had a lot of trouble to pass these parts, but at the same time we would see more interesting combos and creative ideas, using HHG and other weapons.

Wait, is bat glitch allowed?

Gabriel you are crazy! Massive respect  8)

Thanks  ;D

Baseball bat seems a bit OP hehe, very nice Gabriel, I liked the way you used grenades from jet pack for faster positioning the passenger worm. Your time is insane but still had some unlucky moments that could be beatable. I also liked Korydex's aimed grenades from jet pack, he used a Banana too.

It does. I would like to see this scheme without bat at some point; but yes, my time is very beatable, I had a couple of mistakes in the lower part; my hands get tired quickly  :P

This has to be one of the worst games (if not the worst) I've ever had the chance to play.

The game starts normally, then after 10 minutes, it's all failures and self-killing, and not even with telecow purposes.

Had a lot of fun, though. GG.

TheWalrus. I don't consider myself a cheater as I didn't know I was cheating, I mean, the script was considered cheating later and I was very open to tell I was using it, never hided it.
And the T macro I just don't see how it is harmful to me or my opponent, don't know why it's cheating too.

What would happen if remaps go considered as cheating? 2 space roping considered as cheating? There is a very small barrier there to consider people cheaters.  :)

Real cheaters are using crate spy, permanent laser sight, mine dud revealer, macros for hysteria combos.

People use macros for hysteria combos?  ???

Now this is new for me, where'd you see that?
