Like JayP, I'm just lurkin around here for my once-every-two-years check in.  Maybe I'll try to figure out how to hop back on WN one of these days but sounds pretty grim tbh . . .

I will keep playing warmers until the end (of W:A), all of your roping styles influenced me and I have the freedom and physical gift to not let it rust away. Hopefully I can still rope in 20+ years, even if nobody is there to appreciate it anymore, I will enjoy it regardless.

Very interesting video although most of it is speculation, scientific theory and guessing what will happen, that's what makes it so beautiful :)

They could be spot on with all this, or they couldn't be further from the truth if they tried.

Humans knew the world was flat, humans knew we were the centre of the universe, imagine what we'll know tomorrow.

I don't know about you guys, but this is my only true fear, not knowing what will happen after i'm gone, a few examples:

  • Will the human race ever truly know peace among each other?
  • Will we ever make peace with animals and realize we aren't the superior intelligence we think we are?
  • Will we make contact with other living beings outside of our own planet?
  • Will we ever colonize another planet or live in great numbers in the vastness of space?
  • Will we survive long enough to flourish or will we destroy ourselves?
  • Will they ever make Half Life 3?

I would love to see everything that happens in the universe, and i'm sure i'm not alone there.

Was a great video, beautiful soundtrack, thanks for sharing! My cat started freaking out near the end, which made it all the more dramatic  ;D

I am actually more worried about what was before everything. Now that we exist there is a clear path ahead and a logical future will one day be explained.. but.. what was the very first universe (or whatever else you wanna call it). What is the actual starting point. And what was, again, before that starting point. And even if we assume something exceptional like a "godly being" exists. What was before that? It's really weird to think about that, even the most powerful thing needs to have a starting point, and then, that starting point needs a starting point. It's a paradox to me how that happened. So yeah, imo the past is way more interesting to me than the end. The end can be explained. But can you explain the past?

You're not providing any feedback, the only thing you've been doing so far is criticizing the fact that the game contains micro transation, and you're judging mesiba for this. He's already stated that he ain't coming on these forums again due to your hostility towards him. While you were busy writing down all those bullshits thinking he has escaped because he earned a couple of bucks ( ??? ) he released a few updates, just to let you know. The fact he hasn't updated the game for 2 weeks it doesn't necessarily mean that he has left this game, he's probably working on it and this stuff requires time. Quit your f@#!ing hysteria, you sound like a bunch of annoying kid.

Lmao Sbaffo, you're a funny little f@#!er :D

Luckily for you, you're on the internet. If i were in front of you i'd have kicked your ass after saying something like that, has anyone ever taught you to have some respect? You probably have never been in the streets, kid.

Hostility? If you review some of your own posts here, I think you will be able to recognize hostility. You curse at people, you name people, and you threaten people with violence. Not everyone sees eye to eye, and there's no reason to lose your temper over that. It is better to remain calm, collective and accept the fact that people have different opinions. This is the Internet, get over it.

Mesiba's business practices and ideology is something I don't agree on. But I haven't dismissed the fact that he/she/it can be a good person.

Game design/programming isn't a craft of love like 20+ years ago, it's a gigantic cooperate complex and you can't blame newcomers to the industry to copy/paste what currently works. In fact, I believe the majority wouldn't even be able to make games if they didn't copy what works in terms of business models, especially on the mobile market. It will vanish in due time, maybe by something better, or even worse. Personally I think Gaming is at a turning point, the greed has started to become too big and players worldwide wake up. Some will never, or they, did but don't care and just swallow what is presented to them. It doesn't really matter either way, and games come back to the roots, remastered games are becoming more popular.

I'm still playing, but I need about 58 million more coins to somewhat catch up with Sbaffo. It'll probably take me a month at the rate I'm playing. The progression was pretty linear/easy but this last jump is a grind. Would be more fun if there were more maps/ranks.. I reached Legend rank at 10000 points, now I'm still legend (maxed) at 21000 points, but nowhere near fully upgraded rope-wise.

Because that is the carrot on the stick, either pay money or grind your teeth out. How much do you value your time in comparison to the money. That is the end-goal of f2p games. They are specifically designed to make the grind as hard as possible without scaring you away, but long enough to encourage you to save time by spending money. Basically, it boils down to make the game as "bad" as possible if you don't spend money and the game as "good" as possible when you spend money. It's not a very hard to grasp concept either and if you accept this design prior to starting to play then it's fine. But when people start a f2p game and AFTERWARDS complain "oh no, the grind is so long/hard".. seriously. What did you expect? lol it is literally the sole purpose of the game design. Working as intended. I also play f2p games, but the ones I do I either know I won't have anywhere near as comfortable experience as someone that spends money or I like the game that much that I will pay money and feed on the f2p players that don't pay anything. It's subtle, but always apparent. Even one of the greatest f2p games you can play "Path of Exile" has a distinct paying method to have more stash space. Now you would think that is not really an advantage, but the way the game is designed you get flooded with valuable loot, currency and stuff that you run out of stash space and waste time managing your inventory by creating mule characters etc. I am always shocked this little trick gets people surprised but the most valuable currency you have, is your time. So designing a f2p game that takes away your time while offering methods to save time is incredibly profitable. Many people opt in to save time, who wouldn't. Your time is way more limiting than spending 10 bucks on a game to save 50 hours of useless grinding.

About the game: Looks fun, would play if I had mobile device. Probably even spend money on it because I love roping so much and would never settle with mediocre rope physics, why waste time and train a roping speed you will never want to master anyway, straight to the max speed. And I know, I don't really like these business model games (grind or pay, not really p2w) but a roping game is so niche I would pay 100 € for one. Make PC version and reap in my cash @developer. :P

I think knowing stuff like this truly makes life easier. Just knowing this alone makes me feel at ease with a lot of stuff, in the end everything and everyone will be equal. Not even the scariest star explosion or black hole can stand the test of time, and after that not even time has any power. Time only has power if something exist, otherwise it's meaningless.

Also an amazing soundtrack as well.

Watch til the end to truly realize how insignificant anything, even the greatest technology/social advancement, is going to be. Real eye opening time-lapse. Death/Space is the only thing that will survive the universe, so cherish the day you die. :D

The same thing like every year, it's summer and all the people are busy outside sun bathing and having fun. This is normal and nothing unusual. Just wait for Worm Olympics, the playerbase will thrive and come back in hundreds. MI is already preparing a new bandwidth plan to handle all the incoming traffic, the server is gonna explode and I heard he is also searching for a dozen of new complaint mods. Applications are very welcome. There is also a new league being prepared in anticipation of the insane influx, last I heard Kiros is secretly rebooting FB and PooMachine has messaged me privately just recently on AiM that he is also planning to reap in the rewards of the return of W:A competitive scene, cl2k is going to come back! I have also contacted all of dt clan and we are ready for carnage, Mablak has started practicing offline and the first test matches we had are promising. I hope you are ready because I am so hyped for this! Cya soon on #AG.

Yeah, WO will fix that, no worries.
WO that doesn't exist anymore :D

But at least we still have the awards each year. This time it's gonna be tough, the player-field is huge. I am not sure who I will pick, so many viable candidates. Just look at the roper standings, I am not sure if Dibz can still make it this year, there are 3 other players competing with him, top 10 is gonna be rough. The hardest award though is surely BnG, this year we have seen so many new faces in BnG, I am not sure if Komodo can do it. He still needs 3 more wins to be #1, and he has already played 0!!!! games! Insane dedication.

Waste of time? Get out of here! How many of you were inspired by WA to learn to upgrade your PC, build a website, learn to script, design digital art, and write (literary) about worms.. and there's much more too. Build comradery anybody? Esprit de corps. That's the good old stuff. WA inspires and continues to do so. If you play the game and take something away from it, then where's the waste?

I remember when Anubis built that one site, community.. thing. Can't remember. But i remember the idea and community behind it. I'm sure i wrote about it somewhere.

HHC and his RR Tourneys.. or something tourneys. Its been a few years. Skunk3, TheWalrus, Thekomodo, and the ideas and experiences they put down. Oh, and Rabbzz something spelling too.

And etc.

Waste of time? No.

I took over the remains of a forum that was supposed to be a WWP League. It hosted more technical stuff about modding kbs and also hosted DarkOne RR tournaments. It was a weekly "magazine" where I talked about W:A and stuff. Didn't last long but I still remember it. :D

Found the name: It was called W:A Land.

Learned a lot about managing communities and people, was Admin in Armageddon League, complaint mod in XTC League. Very cool experiences. :)

but a point could be made that doing ANYTHING "excessively" is bad because excess in general is bad.

Says who? Who gets to decide this?

Those with gaming addictions always try to justify their behavior with arguments that gravitate towards points such as:

-I'm not harming anyone!
-It makes me happy and being happy is a good thing!
-What makes gaming worse than other past time activities?
etc...

For me those are weak, bullshit arguments

skunk, those ARE actually valid arguements, and something a person can be proud of.

Being wealthy is always better.

Being wealthy is always better, I won't deny that, but what is wealth? Wealth doesn't always equate to money, career and education.

For example, if someone is rich in health, happiness, friends & family, they are wealthy even if they are poor...

To be honest skunk, you are kind of a depressing person to listen to at times lol.

Pretty sure he was entirely and only thinking of money, I saw the $_$ in his eyes. ;D

As I said, there is a mountain of evidence of the shady stuff Epic games does

Haha, you said this 2 or 3 times already. Please enlighten us and share couple of reddit "evidences" that makes this company so criminal and bad! I'm all ears.

Why? It would take me the better part of a day to put together a proper post with some of this information, and even then you would probably just say "TL;DR" or some other ignorant bunch of rubbish similar to what you usually post when coming face to face with such information.

It's like all the people who know the shady practices of diamond manufacturers, sweatshops etc... Foreign countries taking advantage of shitty laws making people work ridiculous hours for shocking low pay, yet they are happy to ignore this and still use the product...

However I should know better than to post such things on a forum where nobody ever gave a f**k  ???

I boycott Epic store, I will wait for Borderlands 3 for Steam on April 2020. :)

If you play video games just for fun without trying to be the best you can be in the game then I consider it a waste of time. W:A specifically I always played to become better, so I don't consider it a waste of time. Was a good time to develop all the different skills in W:A.

@Sensei, I edited your message and removed the pirate link, please don't hate me, don't share pirate links here please, just PM him if you want :)

@Anubis - Can you explain what's so bad about Ubisoft please? I grew up loving this company, I can't remember the last game I played by them, I haven't played Assassins Creed but understand it's a globally loved game, so i'm curious as to why you are against Ubisoft because I know you know your sh*t.

I would definitely stay clear of EA though, I still play Battlefield 4 though because i've been a fan of Battlefield series most of my life, but no longer as BF5 is horrible imo :(

Not the biggest fan of their launcher, the games itself are fine. Maybe they fixed it by now but I had terrible experiences with their program. :D

It's truly sad how annoying women have become. I live in a very liberal city and if you want a shot with women here you basically have to act like a beta cuck f@#!boy, unless you are black, in which case you can treat women like dog shit and they will never leave you. If you support Trump even in the slightest people think you are a piece of shit. If you have anything bad to say about Obama, Clinton, Sanders, etc... you're also a piece of shit. If you think progressive values suck, you're either ignorant or a piece of shit. Or both. If don't support every new social justice warrior hot topic you're a bigoted hater. If you don't praise feminism and kiss ass by saying things like "women can do anything men can do, but not vice-versa" then good luck. On top of all of those nauseating personality traits, tons of women these days are covered in tattoos and piercings, which I think looks like absolute shit.

Well then do it? If you wanna get laid then just act the way the women want you to act and avoid the women that are not your taste and look. I have no problem acting out of person to get what I want if I truly desire it, especially with strangers that I will not include in my life after I got what I want.

If you want a true relationship then what's the matter? Of course many women you encounter won't fit you, that's why there are millions of divorces and lonewolfs that stay single for years. If you are not adapting then less and less women will find you attractive/interesting because they expect their men to act a certain way. Basically, if you are not mainstream, then it will take a significant longer time to find people you enjoy spending time with.

Now about the music:

1: Giving that there is MORE music than ever before I don't see the issue, I can't even keep up with new releases in my single favorite genre (melodic death metal), sure it is pretty niche so probably 50% of the releases I listen to are hobby musicians that just enjoy publishing their music but it can't be that bad if we have so much music everywhere. The high profile musicians (the very successful ones) make a good amount of money since they also perform live and sell merchandise. Which bands / artists are you actually worried about that don't get enough money? Because imo, the ones that are semi professional and just do it after their real life job are doing it for the joy. And the professionals that go touring etc. are pretty good off. (This is all based on Metal, no clue about other genre).

2. I think that is a 1st world problem and no real issue, it is true that there are lots of garbage releases, but that's simply because there are more opportunities to release music for free, like youtube. The world ironically slowed down in that regard because MORE people have time to commit to creativity and make their own music. Yes, that means also more garbage is released but it also means more people are free and can pursue dreams.

3. I guess it's their choice so... if they enjoy it? I mean if you go to a concert (in metal), the music quality is usually crappy simply because it's about being as loud as possible so everyone can hear the music. I don't listen to music with headphones or earbuds at home, but on the go you can't carry a speaker system around with you so you are kinda forced to listen to it that way because it doesn't work otherwise. :D

4. Can't relate, walking down a street or driving a car to a store is hardly physical effort. If anything it's a social effort since you will meet people and interact.

5. Can't complain, I still find excellent metal bands and enjoy the newer works. Maybe you suffer from this as well, for me it's kinda true, I do see myself listen to older music more often. https://www.businessinsider.de/why-we-stop-discovering-new-music-around-age-30-2018-6?r=US&IR=T

We are closing in on a transitional era for humanity, that means practical skills like cooking, house making etc. all become mundane and unimportant because we will have technology slowly, bit by bit replace all day to day chores. We also work towards a society where we have more people than jobs, that means more people will have no actual job that benefits the civilization and need to be occupied elsewhere. It's not as bad as some of you make it out to be, yes, we are losing our "traditional" life where everything is clearly separated with family and job and technology. It all melts itself into everything we use and care about. At one point resources and energy will become a lot less valuable to us and we will freely distribute the wealth more equally once the majority of goods are produced by machines that are fueled by free energy. I think everything we currently develop is still more positive than negative once it's done. The main issue is that money and as a result of this driving factor, corruption and lobby work has too much say in our world.

A lot of skunks complaints are very subjective, which makes sense since he speaks his mind, but when judging if the world is getting worse you have to be as objectively as possible. Things like buying a music record online or in a store with a physical copy are completely irrelevant and don't determine if the world is getting worse. If that was the case you could make a case that since the start of humanity the world has gotten worse because instead of using cattle plough we are now using tractors that let us cultivate more efficiently. Efficiency does not undermine respect for the art. It's all more accessible and because of that, a faster world. Is a faster world inherently bad? No, it just works faster and has no impact on you individually unless you let it be. A human does not work faster than 100 years ago, our muscles and brain power is the same as before. We just utilize the brain and muscle power in a more efficient way through the use of technology which then seems like we live faster. The farmer from 100 years ago was just as exhausted after work as any of us that work a physical demanding job, probably even more since less protection for his well-being was in place.

Most of us are in the mid 30s, and I remember it crystal clear when I was young and the "old generation" of 30+ complain about the new stuff, I always said I will be open to change, I accept the world is ever-changing and since profit/capitalism hasn't changed, anything that currently changes is the same that would happen 30 years ago, just that technology wasn't as developed to do it. If 30 years ago smart phones were a possibility, they would have existed. So they are not bad or worse, they just weren't feasible to realize, and as long as money is the driving factor we will continue to see faster aka. more efficient use of our time. In the end most consumer technology is to save time, being able to play games on your phones saves time to do other things when you come home from work. I see this as a positive not a negative. We end up with more time when everything works faster. The problem is, that most individuals feel "forced" to do everything. You can still enjoy a full evening of reading and turn off your connection to the "cyber world". People just don't have the will power and you are 100% to blame if you find yourself in such a situation. You are still in control of your life, don't watch stupid mainstream news, or tv shows. There is so much available to you, you just have to pick and choose. Or choose to close the channels and press "x" and do something offline. ;D
