Back in the days of xSpeed and MagicSpeed or whatever it was called you could either slow down or speed up the rope. I quite liked the speedy (1.5x speed) and played a bit on that for a while and when going back normal speed felt like slow motion and it improved myself, it certainly makes you react faster because you have to. The physics would be the same, the game just ran faster. Another interesting thing about ever changing (slight) settings is this fact: You actually become better if you constantly change your input slightly.

https://cochranemusic.com/guitar-muscle-memory-speed

We basically have a cognitive phase, an associative phase and an autonomous phase. When you "master" the rope you are only working in the autonomous phase, you don't learn anything anymore and just do what you learned. During my "career" I often switched keyboards, modding of keys, how to tap, made entire aliases that focus on one aspect of roping. I basically always returned to the associative phase and autonomous phase back and forth. Hell I even entered the cognitive phase by altering the actual game engine. In my opinion all this fiddling was strengthening my skills, you get worse for a while but come back stronger. You don't forget your old skill sets, you also never "unlearn" how to walk, run or ride a bike. You just don't. I stopped playing basketball for 5 years, and when I started I could still shoot 3 pointers just fine, a bit rusty but returned to normal just fine. So in my opinion the true key to master something is to always challenge yourself, mix it up. You are good with your right hand? Now stop using it and use your left etc. I remember in my starting days of fingerroll I would try to beat my own fingerroll on left vs. right hands. Like with these old tapping meters that measured your speed. I would have like 200 taps on left hand and then try to beat it on right hand and so on.

yes sure, repetition will and can get you closer to a goal (like beating a time) you will get more consistent and consistency alone can (will) improve you,... but the true road to overcoming your limits is to think outside the box and challenge your mind and brain ever so slightly that it has to adapt, and learn and discover new skill sets that you can integrate in what you have already learned.

And to answer the thread, yes I would.
Quality post, very good points.

"Auto-place worms by ally (checkbox) – When worm placement is automatic, group worms by team colour. May make automatic placement feasible even in Fort-style maps. Default off."

How exactly does this work?

So yeah, could someone answer this please? Where are all these extra options, where is this checkbox to make worm placement automatic?

Click that star. It should be at Gameplay 2 I think, not sure.

Basically no safety (parachute), no re-firing after landing or visible timer.
That actually sounds interesting.

Not as a proposal for change in the official one, but fractional round timer can be experimented in Hysteria to create a fast paced Hysteria where sinking sudden death plays a bigger role, just like in Team17. It may encourage tactical positioning over darksiding, and it may be overall more adrenaline inducing compared to a hyst game that turns into a BnG.
I don't think it is a bad idea, but this would put even more emphasis on starting positions when SD starts after 15 turns.  Starting SD earlier would induce more luck into the scheme.
Yes, I didn't mention it in my initial post but SD time should be set according to new settings.

Btw speaking of starting positions, what about ally auto placement option? Would it be a positive or negative change?

If the applied settings change the way rope behaves, even slightly, then no. I agree with Komo, changing psychics is a big no. Of course this excludes casual games with your friends where competition is not a concern, just like when you put overpowered explosive bananas on Big RR.

If the applied settings does not change the rope behavior, but only change animation speed, then it might work. It might even be interesting. I think one way to achieve that is by changing the speed of game engine.

Newbies can practise muscle memory by lowering engine speed. To give you an example, I practise guitar and when I face with a hard riff, I try to play it at lower speed. Let's say I begin at 50% speed. When I manage to play it, I raise the speed level incrementally till I reach 100%. This works because I get motivated when I am able to play at lower speed, and at that speed I build muscle memory.

Pros can improve their roping by playing at a higher speed. They can increase their reaction time, which will translate to regular speed as more precise roping.

If rope animation becomes faster while keeping the gravity same, it can also work on some competitive events with more freedom (a Big RR or WxW cup), and not work on the rest (league schemes, TTRR, Darts etc.)

Quote[DC] It is now possible to save a snapshot of the current map in-game. The map is saved in its current destroyed/augmented state, with the water level set to its precise current level.

Quote[DC] It is now possible for the host in an online game to add CPU teams. The game will only be allowed to start if all clients present support this feature.

Quote[DC,CS] Maximum rope speed (fixed-point) – The maximum speed at which a worm with a Ninja Rope or Bungee attached can move, in pixels per frame. A value of zero disables the limit. The default is 16.

Nice. Just skimmed through and there seems to be really interesting new features. Great work guys. Thank you for your huge support for this community.

I heard about this game from a close friend that bought June 2020's Humble Choice. When I first saw it my initial reacton was wtf, Big RR? And to my surprise, this hidden gem was made by one Turkish guy.

I bought it on Steam Summer sale and gave it a try. I found it quite enjoyable. It has leaderboards for each level, and you can watch replays of every run on the leaderboard. It also has ghost support. But my favorite feature is that it has custom level support. Game is really polished.

Now obviously, don't expect rope physics that is identical to WA, guy probably never heard of roping lol. And it is not pure roping, there are some platformer elements as well. But I think it is really fun game and people who enjoy Big RR might potentially enjoy this game too.

I agree that WHO is full of shit and BLM protests outside of US, where at countries with no black population is quite dumb.

But also those statistics are not suitable for comparison with COVID-19. TB killed about 1.5 million people, and that's a truth, but it's an incomplete truth. These TB cases mostly recorded on shit ass countries. In 2018, 87% of new TB cases occurred in the 30 high TB burden countries. Eight countries accounted for two thirds of the new TB cases: India, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and South Africa. And just to be sure, I checked countries with highest TB death rate per population. According to 2018, top 10 countries with highest death rate per population is: Central African Republic, North Korea, Mozambique, Nigeria, Nambia, Angola, Congo, Liberia, Papua New Guinea, Congo. They don't seem like countries with that good healthcare right? Reason why I used two statistics from US is to show its danger without other factors like being a shit ass country.

Poverty and hunger kills more people in the world so far, yes. But do you think anyone you could see on the internet lives in countries with such problems? Obviously those two are worse. If you can't feed yourself to survive, chances are you can't do shit against COVID-19 anyway. Our concern is just to encourage people to do simple things to lower the COVID-19 cases. So on that note...

Regulations are necessary yes, but not to extreme measures where it robs people of their liberty. Quarantine home is fine, and it is also human's responsibility to sanitize themselves and be reasonable of their action in society.

...I agree with this. For example in Turkey, there's a bill discussed in parliament that will basically reshape bar associations to give government more authority. And maybe more than 95% of bar association protesting this, and rallying against the bill. Government tries to use "breaking guidelines for COVID-19" to stop rallies, but people actually take really good measures (masks, distance etc.) to prevent that. Even if it might still increase the chances for COVID-19, it is also important to fight for our liberties.

Hopefully, having liberties and having precautions are not mutually exclusive. We ara capable to achieve a balance and not go for one extreme, as long as people stay vigilant.

I know no one with corona, or anyone that knows anyone that have/had it.

I know that influenza kills a lot more or aligned with corona death numbers.

But sure, be always careful with the flu aka corona propaganda driven disease.

This is how left operates. They insult anyone that they don't agree with, with no foundation to a mature answer.

Quote from: Kradie on July 08, 2020, 01:07 PM
You shouldn't joke about it then.

Coronavirus is just a flu stirred up by the media, it is another form of control.

Imagine unironically falling for /pol/ memes.

Did you really come to these conclusions by individual thinking or are you just parroting what your group is thinking, just like "left" may do?

CDC estimates that from 2010-2011 to 2013-2014, influenza-associated deaths in the United States ranged from a low of 12,000 (during 2011-2012) to a high of 56,000 (during 2012-2013). While first COVID-19 case in the US was at January 20th, current death toll is 134.000 in just 6-7 months. And this is with people somewhat taking precautions against it. If people didn't give a f@#! about it like a flu, that toll would be much higher.

Not to mention the known things such as death rate is not what makes COVID-19 scary. The unknown aspects, such as long term effects is what makes it scary. For example with SARS, a virus strain very similar to COVID-19, it was observed that forty percent reported some degree of chronic fatigue and 27 percent met diagnostic criteria for chronic fatigue syndrome. f@#!ing hell, imagine generations of people with shitty chronic diseases.

Nobody is denying things like government might use this pandemic to seize more control. But disregarding the danger this virus might potentially pose for us is downright retarded.

Also stop polarizing your entire worldview whether something is right wing or lefty. You look as dumb as a sports hooligan that "supports" his "team" before anything else. This is not a sports game you retard.
