WA is like the love of your life, or that ex that you compare every new girl against.

Because you spent the best moments of your life with her(best moments gaming with WA).

You pretty much idolize it, and only the same thing will satisfy you, any change, whether it's good or bad, will be ignored if it isn't exactly the same.

Exactly.

Worms Revolution was shit. It introduced several cool new gameplay mechanics but there were other flaws with the game that made it a disappointment. Worms Clan Wars was basically Revolution except they addressed a lot of the issues and balanced the game quite a bit. CW ended up being pretty great aside from some gripes about it being 2.5D. In terms of overall gameplay (depth of strategy primarily) I think that CW is one of the most strategic Worms titles ever made - perhaps the top.

WMD isn't a terrible game at all. The rope isn't as good as the rope in W:A but it's usable. The main thing different about it is that you can't bounce off of walls to gain speed. It requires some getting used to and it overall isn't *quite* as functional as the W:A rope but for normal gameplay modes it's definitely good enough. People should quit their bitching and just play something new instead of shitting all over newer Worms games, especially if they haven't even played them very much. WMD also goes on sale frequently so you can get it cheap. These days I'd rather play WMD unless I want to specifically rope - big rr, wxw, etc. For your normal default style games I think WMD is fun, but it can be aggravating due to crafting, vehicles, etc.

I play WMD fairly regularly. It's definitely worth playing. W:A purists / elitists are going to badmouth it no matter what but meh. It's not perfect but is it fun? Sure.

See you on Christmas.

No you won't.
Why not? I see no one... I sit basically in a dark chilly room alone, leaning against a solid cold wall with a laptop next to me... Laptop is old, and It has been giving me some issues for a while now, particularly with bsod. I also have a beef knife, and a couples of apples in a plastic bag. I guess I could do a lot of things with the things I have, if my laptop decides to die. Like everything else in my life, I don't recall my parents, they are like shadows haunting me in my dreams, I wake up crying, and my brain deludes me into believing I am getting tossed around and yelled at.
Though I do have a fond memory of this cable that I slept next to at a younger age on the floor, it was the battery cable to a laptop that one of my guardians owned. They also had one cat ''Limbo'', and he never loved me. He often scratched me, and I got in trouble because my guardians thought I was hurting him. But really... All I wanted was to cuddle with this cable... My stepfather always kicked me because I got too entangled in it. I guess that was the closest to a hug I ever got.
My stepmother always got so mad, with her infuriating look of thousand demons holding a kitchen beef knife, she came towards me, and I honestly thought my time was up. In reality, she cut the cable to free me from my own entanglement. Once I was freed, she smothered me with the cable until I passed out. As I regained consciousness, I saw dark blurry shadows fighting. I guess my stepfather wasn't all that happy with how her spouse cut his cable.
They wanted to buy a new battery cable, but instead they decided to invest on alcohol, because they only got along this way. Stepfather fixed the cable, and life went on until Limbo died due to starvation... I don't think they noticed all that much, stepmother seemed more happier, she bought more alcohol and they were relishing in intoxication, while I was a prisoner of their vanity.
All that ended when my stepfather died of a stroke. His spouse dragged his body to the freezer, and placed him in there. He was the main supply of food while she was getting worse everyday until she never woke up again.
I was left alone in tears, abolished by the worst of humanity. I decided to move on, and I gathered comforting remains, beef knife, cable, laptop and apples that sometimes were dropped on the floor by accident.
I placed the stuff I gathered in a plastic bag and moved on. I found a run down abandoned warehouse, it had weak wifi signal from a kebab shop a few blocks away. I was happy with that, until now, my laptop just died.

What the f@#!? Not sure where that came from but if it's true that's super sad.

I voted "no."

I have always said how annoying I find snoopers and have never used snooper programs (aside from to test them out) because I hate seeing all of the AFK idlers. I'd rather see two people who are ACTUALLY on WormNET and presumably wanting to play than see 30 names in the list, fully knowing that it's false.

Thanks guys. Some days are horrible. I'm slowly learning which foods I can and cannot consume. It gets REALLY tiresome shitting blood too.

I know most people don't care but I've been away from W:A for a while now due to medical issues.

I don't want to get into the exact details but suffice it to say that I have been very sick for a while now. I have some complications going on with Crohn's disease / Ulcerative Colitis and I haven't had much time to play. My stomach constantly feels like I have someone stabbing me with a knife, and on good days I am on the toilet for hours and hours.

I am not quite sure what happened... I think it is an underlying issue that I've had for quite some time but it never got serious until recently. A few months ago I went to the hospital for a week because I couldn't have a bowel movement and since then it has been one issue after the next. I've been in and out of the hospital since so in case anyone has wondered where I've been, there's your answer. I'm rarely on WormNET and when I am. I am in a lot of pain and can't play like my normal self. I just wanted to let people know because right now I'm waiting on biopsy results and I'm hoping that I don't have cancer.

In my experience I've found that the 'best' kb is what you're the most used to.

I've tried several over the years and my favorite kb ever was a thrift store Gateway or Dell kb ($1, can't remember brand) with membranes. It fell apart after a year of playing but it was better than my K70 that I have now when it comes to roping. I'm not going to bother having multiple kb's for gaming. I've also never noticed any real difference between USB and PS/2 keyboards, although I know on paper that PS/2 is supposedly superior. Also, lots of people (including myself) play via laptops, so USB is practically a requirement. Now that I am used to them, I greatly prefer mechanical kb's for the overall feel, gaming or not.

As long as the kb is full size and doesn't have keylock, anyone can get good at using it for any scheme. The main advantage IMO that 'gaming' kb's offer is that they tend to be of a higher construction quality and last longer. I barely play W:A anymore due to being in and out of the hospital but this K70 I have has been used extensively for quite a period of time and it doesn't show any signs of wear aside from just being generally dirty. I don't remap my keys and my spacebar feels exactly the same now as it did the day I bought it.

If people spent more time playing the game than looking at this website, our problems would be solved to a degree.
#219
Well, that was an 'interesting' read.

There isn't enough in-game activity to justify any of this.

People barely play TUS these days and it is well-established, so how does one expect for a new league (or several leagues) to gain traction and become popular?

As I've said before, it doesn't matter what grand ideas people come up with if people aren't playing the game.

General discussion / Re: Current status of the League

 ::)

The way the site is at the moment was fine years ago when the game was active. These days the game is as inactive as it has ever been. I personally can't think of a time when activity was so low, especially activity of seasoned players. I personally don't have an issue with the UI of this site but the league formats themselves are confusing because everything is so separated. I think some major simplication wouldn't hurt at all, even if people might complain about having to play schemes they don't like. Big deal.

Many W:A newbies have no idea what TUS even means and probably little to no desire to play leagues, and those who would potentially be interested in playing leagues would most likely be extremely confused by this website, particularly when it comes to Leagues and whatnot. League play is at a trickle already and making changes probably wouldn't hurt it for the worse. I dunno. As I said before, I don't think it matters at all what changes are made because I can't think of any changes to the Leagues that would bring players back, and seeing old players become more active (in general) is far more desirable to me than seeing newer players become more active within TUS... and since there's no real incentive for anyone to come back out of sheer boredom and nostalgia, what else is there to offer? Nothing, basically. Empty hopes and promises of a 3.8 release that may be officially released one day. To be honest, I don't even think 3.8 would be enough to bring back a lot of players, especially not long term. A few might install and check it out but I doubt they'll become active again.

To me this whole discussion is akin to two guys bailing water out of the bottom of a sinking boat and arguing about whether it is best to bail water with a circular pail or a squared one.

I think the real question that needs to be asked is of the inactive players: What would you NEED to see implemented to become seriously active again? Is there anything that could be done, or has life and its various commitments relegated W:A to 'fond memory' status? I still don't even fully understand why SO MANY players went inactive at roughly the same time. It's like all of a sudden the game died because of a domino effect of: "if (X) isn't playing anymore, I won't either..."

I think that all of this talk of brainstorming ideas to entice veteran players to become active again is just wishful thinking and chat, nothing more. The only thing that can save this game is 3.8 being way more awesome than expected, and it being released soon.

You can easily download flac/mp3 and sometimes even wav files via the typical filesharing programs once you find something you like. I don't care about having the actual file on my device anymore. Years ago? Yeah, I had hard drives full of mp3's and stacks of burned cds and dvds. Rarely am I in any place in which I cannot access Spotify, even when way out in the countryside. I can't even tell you the last time I listened to a CD... and the only time I ever really listen to mp3/flac/wav is when I DJ. When I'm at home chillin' or in my car driving around, it's 100% Spotify.

IMO the price you pay for Spotify is very much worth it, even if you're just paying for a single account at $10/month. If you go for a 'family' plan it's what... $2.50 per person, per month? $120/year might sound like a lot of money but it really isn't. Most people piss away way more than $10/month on random crap like coffee, soda, water, candy, cigarettes, weed, beer, etc. Also, one thing to note is that the audio quality for the free version of Spotify is less than that of the paid version. At home I listen to my music on some pretty nice JBL studio monitors with a matching sub and I have no complaints about the sound quality at all. It's leagues better than listening to the same track on YouTube.

I am a cheapskate and hate spending money on anything if I don't have to. Spotify Premium is worth every penny. No ads, you can make unlimited playlists for any occasion, and it has damn near everything. Also, the algorithms they use based upon what you like and listen to are really, really good for suggesting new stuff to you. At first I figured it would be trash but I am very pleasantly surprised.

Also, they have a family plan for Spotify (at least in the U.S... ?) that is like $15/mo for something like 4 or 6 (!!!) accounts. You can some friends/family could chip in a couple of dollars each month and all have premium.
